Whoa!..Where's The Magic Gone...

Well I joined this site in November last year and I've really enjoyed all the fun..facts,and banter..Never yet read a doom and gloom story about " It's the end of Disney as we know it" laugh ...But wait a minute...What if it happened.. eek ..I mean what if you decided to revisit Disney after several years and the magic was gone... gaah ...What a dreadful thought, but I remember visiting the island of Cyprus after a seven year absence. We stayed at the same resort..Gone was our favourite Greek/Cypriot taverna replaced by a fast food pizza place..The Cypriot dancing shows replaced by karaoke joints..OMG...Get me home...Somehow I don't think that will ever happen at Disney..Now as most people who know me on here,I'am still a Disney rookie, wet behind the ears, getting on in my old age..Ahem!...But for all you addicts who have been going for years and years, has there ever been a trip where you thought it's kinda Deja Vu...Seen it all before..Got the T- Shirt to prove it..Or in the other hand ( like myself ) does it get better with every trip..To be honest our first trip in 2004 was all new to us and what with no planning involved, it still was jaw dropping...However this year I am more excited than I've ever been probably due to many factors..Flying with VA ( first time..free drink sarcastic ) Going in October ( first time..MNSSHP & F & W ) And also staying at WL ( first time at a deluxe resort ) And meeting up with a friend across the pond ( Princess Lapu ) ...So have you ever came back from a WDW vacation and said " Well that's it,thank you Mickey for the good times."

I am not sure if the over planning with fast pass plus is going to take some magic away or add more. we will see.

My simple answer would be, if I had, I wouldn't be going back!

I agree. We have always been very low key when it comes to planning and one of the things we enjoyed so much was going to the parks and just 'winging it' when it came to rides. I feel like with FP+ we are being forced to do more planning and can't really change plans on the fly. We'll see if they work the kinks out though. I would love to see them allow Fastpasses in multiple parks, because we are huge park hoppers. Nothing will completely take away the magic though.. We'll keep going back just for the feeling of the 'magic bubble'

I actually find it's getting harder and harder to leave each trip! My obsession with Disney just keeps growing. There would have to be some extremely drastic change to make me not want to return.

We are at old key west, I quite excited and a little nervous, as I'm taking a first timer. We were so happy to get virgin flights. We got a great deal when we booked.

My old Irish buddy stayed there in 2012 with his partner and little girl..They loved it..Big rooms I remember him telling me..Yeh, we also got a great deal with Virgin..It was during the January sale..I must thank Mr Ferret for advising me to check their site, as in the past, their prices were way too expensive..This is our first time booking flights separate from our Disney package...

Would recomend using the V-room (might be a small charge) it gets you away from the Maddening crowds before your flight.

Nope - my whole life philosophy revolves around the thought that no matter what day it is, it's always one day closer to going back to Disney. It's part of why I get up in the morning.

No free dining for us this year.( had it in 2012 at PORS ) But the 40% off deluxe makes up for it..Cheaper than staying at a moderate as there was nothing off PORS or POFQ...

Nope, just "How soon can we go back????" DH knows that if we aren't planning for about every 2 years I will begin to get a bit testy.

Yes, actually we did, back in 1998. Our son was 16, and we knew it would be the last family trip to WDW, and the last major trip anywhere for a while. University costs were looming, paying off a mortgage, etc. - money was going to be tight for a long time. We were thinking if we ever did go back, it would be when (maybe) we had grandchildren - going as two wheelchair only wasn't really on our radar.

Fast forward to 2012 - I talked Peter into doing a trip in the spring. He moaned and groaned a bit, but let me have my way. We had a blast - so much so that HE wanted to go back 5 months later. And 8 months after that again! We haven't managed to go this year yet, (family illnesses, and just life getting in the way) but I'm hoping for a trip in the fall. By then I am definitely going to need a trip to WDW! biggrin

Isn't that the truth. We enjoyed our family trips with our sons as adults, but we LOVED our couple trip and now this fall with our best friends who share so many passions. It's going to be another blast. NEVER say Never! (do you hear that Fergus?!?!?!)
