How do you pass the time between trips?

I'm sure there's probably been a thread about this in the past but I felt it was a relevant subject to our day to day lives! So, I know we all save as hard as we can to go on however many Disney holidays we can manage, but still the waiting between trips can seem like an eternity! Am I right?! Anyway, what I wanted to know is do you have any Disney/other activities that you participate in between trips to make the waiting less excruciating? As I'm now just past the 60 day mark and everything is booked/organised, the time is starting to drag a bit, so I'll start off with the things I am doing to pass the time.

1. I have booked tickets to Disney On Ice and am going to wear my mouse ears to make me feel like I'm in Disney!
2. Whenever I'm feeling low about waiting, I put on one of my favourite Disney films to remind me that magic exists.
3. My friend brought us back Disney pens (Mickey, Minnie and Goofy) from her trip and I'm going to be using them at my college evening class to cheer me up.
4. I sketch Disney characters using video tutorials.
5. I come on this forum and read about everyone else's plans/trips to help remind me my next trip is just around the corner and simulate feelings of being there. I also re-read my old trip reports and remember how great they were.
6. I buy Disney themed clothing and wear it when I am missing Disney.
7. I keep a countdown and check how long it is till my next trip on dull days.
8. I find excuses to dress up in Disney costumes, e.g. Halloween.
9. I plan, plan, plan everything in my trips to the last little details.
10. I talk to DH about Disney all the time and we discuss our favourite films/media and plans.

What do you do to make the time go faster? mickey

We booked in February, so the waiting has felt like an eternity. For me, now that we are close, things have sped up a bit (that could have something to do with work being a crazy place and my taking two classes instead of one like I usually do thought). Some ways I pass the time:

1. Being on this forum and now a Facebook group for Disney Mom's panel hopefuls
2. Watching Disney movies to pass my time
3. My best friend went in August and I have another friend traveling in December, so I have been helping people plan trips
4. I also enjoy drawing! I just bought a Disney villains drawing book, so I am making my way through that
5. I collect Funko Pops. I have a collection in my office, and looking at them make me smile
6. Reading everything I can about Disney that I come across
7. Planning and more planning. Still working out some stuff for this year, and I am already looking at some ideas for next year's trip!

Since discovering WDW late on in life in 2004..We have been making the magic pilgrimage every two years, but to be honest time flies with me..We do a cheap vacation in between the two year gap, although retired after 35 years in telecommunications, I joined up with an old friend who plays bass guitar and we have quite a successful band playing local venues and this takes up lots of my time..So tho we are off to Crete in a few weeks, when we get back I have 6 months to organise our 14 ADRS for October next year..In between this we usually have about six weekends away to watch soccer games..I keep thing that our next trip maybe the final farewell..Last year we pushed the boat out and stayed at our first deluxe resort ( big mistake ) As we fell in love with WL..And my son wanted to go back ( so did we ) So 2016 we have 14 nights at WL to look forward to... clapping

That is great guys. NikkiMouse, drawing is awesome! I like to sketch characters and then leave them on the coffee table for my husband with a countdown - 55 days to go or whatever. Helps to pass the time and gets me excited about character meets. Last drawing I did was Dory. Smile

Watchmaker, glad it goes quickly for you! I feel that once I have done all my ADRs, fastpasses and online check-in, there is a frustrating amount of time before we go! Smile

I'm very fortunate to live close to a Disney outlet store. I visit it once or twice a month to look around, listen to the music, enjoy a little Disney magic. Following the trip reports on this forum makes the wait a bit more bearable also. mickey

I'm not entirely sure when my next trip will be, but I'm aiming towards 2017-2018 realistically. I want to do at least one WDW trip before I turn 30! Anyway, here's the top 5 things I do to help pass the time.

Visit Disney forums
Watch Disney-related YouTube channels
Follow Disney related content on social media
Watch my favorite content on TV (Live sports, game shows, binge watch Food Network shows, etc.)
Listen to music (Both my favorite Disney and non-Disney stuff.)

The time used to drag for me, too, but I have been absolutely swamped with work for the past 5 months and it's AMAZING how fast that time has gone! I don't recommend this method though as it is wrought with frustration and lack of leisure time. I much prefer passing the time drawing and watching movies.

I purchased the Heads Up! app on the phone the mobile device that I bring with us to the parks. You can purchase a "do it yourself" option on the app that allows you to make your own cards and add your own photos. I made a Disney set with over 180 different characters (well known and obscure), and it's great for days when all I can think about is Disney.

It'll also come in handy when we're stuck in those ride lines that seem a bit too long. Just bring out the device, toss it up near your forehead and play a bit while you wait to get on the ride Smile

I'm having trouble passing the time right now. I *so* want to be going to food and wine festival, but it's just not going to happen, so I think I'm going to pull out the F&W Cookbook I have and try to cook some of the stuff up at home.

I just plan the next trip. And plan. And overplan and then change plans and plan all over again.

Cooking WDW food, like Kristen, also. That's always fun.

And of course read other people's trip reports.

How do I pass the time between trips?! LOL!! I have grandbabies! They may keep me from coming down there for any length of time but they don't keep me from dreaming and planning! Have made reservations for May 2016 and October 2016 WDWFG Great Meet Up cruise and might throw in a short all girls trip in June. I am certifiably nuts!! mickey

LOL, I accidentally read that one bit as an "all short girls trip" and was ready to volunteer to join you. But not in June, oh, heck, no.

Okay, let's say short enough to fit in petite sizes. No taller than 5'3". And now to do a little arithmetic...Or no taller than 160 cm.

If all the short girls are going to the Big Meet Up next October, we could do a quick all short girls thing while we're there. At least take a photo. But nobody gets to wear heels. We all need to be as short as possible.

I'm not sure if we're gonna manage the big meet up or not. It's looking really expensive for us when we include flights from the UK and we're still weighing up our options unfortunately. I'm 5ft3 so I think I make the cut. laugh

maybe don't see your disney trips as the goal you are counting down to, that can get depressing. trying to make your life pass by quickly to be at disney again is no way to realistically live. between trips we do so much to include disney in our life I of course create disney designs and illustrations, I also collect vintage merch and park related bits mainly donald duck, country bears, sonny eclipse, mary blair, orange bird and adventureland stuff, I tweet a lot and read a lot about disney history and animation, my book shelfs are heaving podcasts are also great I love my dear friends 'the hipster podcast' to death although its not to every ones taste, the fabulous moustalgia, my friends jeff and geaorge 'communicore' and of course 'The Dis Unplugged' for news.

when counted down to wdw last year we had a year so at the time there were 52 animated classics we watched one a week in order, it was great fun and we understood so much of the park and the shows, I think I knew every song. I would also recommend watching films that enhance the parks like swiss family robinson, the african queen, petes dragon (so you can make angry eyes at people who don't know who elliot is in MSEP) the lesser known animated films like melody time, fun and fancy free, and the south american animated films maybe even song of the south. these movies will make you excited to visit the parks and look for stuff.

Oh and cooking disney parks food at home is great....... I find its better to make my life disney rather than dread not being there

I think I found a way to pass our time, planning a short girls trip!!!!!

Everyday I actually say to myself, I am not doing anything Disney related today... Well, it never happens. I sometimes wish I could focus on something else but being in the bubble makes me happy. I stay stressed a lot with work and some personal issues and it all goes away when we are there. So, I focus on the planning, things I want to do next time, changing ADRs and FPs.

I have been so wrapped up in the last 2 trips and the upcoming T'giving trip that just today I realized my birthday is next month... LOL
