So one thing I've noticed is that even if I had a magic FASTPASS and could get on all the rides quickly, I still don't like hanging out in the parks very much when it's crowded. Some people think it's fine though. Do you mind crowds?

I'm not a huge fan of crowds. We usually travel during off-peak seasons, but even then you occasionally encounter a larger-than-normal crowd. Last November I was in Epcot on the last Saturday of the F&W Fest, and I had never seen such huge crowds before. Literally a sea of people flowing like a river around the World Showcase. Fortunately, I was there for an ADR at Biergarten, so aside from walking through the masses, I didn't have to deal with the crowd. DHS, where I spent most of the day, was also crowded, but not nearly as much.
I tend to think of the throngs of people surrounding me as part of Disney World. There's a tree, there's a bench, there's a popcorn stand, there's a character, there are some people. I don't even think about them unless I actually have to deal with them. Which is not to say that I'm rude - I don't cut in line or trample on toes or anything - I just find large crowds easier to deal with if I think of them as part of the scenery.
The only halfway decent purpose for a crowd is to give you a better variety of sights when you are sitting on a bench people watching.

It was crazy that day.
To crowds like that I can only say not for me.
We never go to Disney during "Peak Season" for that reason alone! Don't like going up there with the whole human race. Takes away from the joyous experience of being in the magic when you're stuck in a line for an hour or more, can't move because you're stuck and feel like you can't breathe.
I can tolerate moderate crowds at best. I would feel so closed in if I ran into large crowds. I enjoy people watching, but I dont' want to be elbow to elbow all the time. That Food & Wine crowd shot is enough to keep me away!!

I dont know if I get claustrophobic or what.... but I hate them. Peter Pan ride line... oh man... I thought I was going to go nuts last time. Even Toy Story Mania is close.....
But that picture... id be in the fetal position and wouldnt get up... lol

I took the picture and then quickly turned around and walked the other way.
3 out of 6 people in my family suffer from some form of anxiety disorder, so crowds are something that we try to avoid at all costs. I really try to plan on vacations for low crowd times of year. My trip at the end of this month however, the crowd calendar is at a 9!!! I'll be bringing lots of Xanex.
We were at the Food & Wine Festival on a friday night last year and it was terrible! People were getting drunk everwhere and it was shoulder to shoulder. Not fun at all. Alittle crowded I can take, but not like that, we just left the park.

Seriously crazy! Fortunately, the rest of the week wasn't so bad.
We'll be heading to MK on March 14th which is rated as a 10 on the crowd schedule. We're dreading it, but its our only opportunity to go because of school.
It's very odd, I actually don't usually mind crowds and my husband hates them. In Disney World, it's the complete opposite for us. He will be okay there and I feel I need to leave.
I remember two really bad times, once when I was pregnant and we were trying to get through AK and I just wanted to leave so bad! The other time was with our 3 year old, too crowded, he was grumpy...not a good situation!
Yikes!!! That picture frightens me. I know for sure my husband and I would be out of there. Now last week when we were there in that spot there was not one person. We walked straight down and there was no one but cast members. It was unbelievable considering we had been there during march break and Columbus day week when it was close to this amount of people.
I have varying degrees of tolerance for crowds. I've been to New Orleans three times for Mardi Gras and Munich for Oktoberfest and didn't mind the crowds. I have no desire to go to Times Square for New Years Eve because of the people. And as I said earlier, I turned around after taking the picture at he F&W fest and walked the other way. I didn't want to deal with the crowd.
WOW! I've been before in June and before Christmas and I don't think I ever recall Epcot being that crowded! One of the reasons I love Epcot is because it is so big that crowds usually aren't so big!
I am not a crowd fan either. That is why I try to go when crowds are lightest..for the times I am able to go anyway. I would love to be there on a weekday in January or something but that will never happen!
eewwww...yikes! what time of day was that? was it a weekend?

It was late afternoon on a Saturday. It was the last weekend of the Food & Wine Festival.
No thank you!! Those crowds are INSANE!! I will definately be one of those parents taking my kids out of school for a week to go to Disney...I am not going to pay for a trip that is too crowded to enjoy. I was looking at the crowd calendar predictor for when we are there in a few days and the fact that its 6 out of 10 one day worried me a little! haha!

We take our kids out of school the month after Spring Break is over and go during the beginning of the work week. Seems like when we've gone a Thurs-Sat, the crowds were horrendous! If we go Sun-Wed, it's not so bad, at least in May.
We always took our boys out of school and went in January. That is how we started the January trips so many years ago. Now youngest son is a teacher and for now can only go in the summer. For most schools around here summer does not start until around June 17th.

I think we were all there that day! It was crazy! I will never go again the last weekend of F&W.

I took this picture a couple of hours after we met.
We like to go in May also and take our kids out of school. Sorry teachers
Maybe it is because I teach 2nd grade...or because I teach in an area where most of my kids come from single family homes but if one of my kids came to me and said that they were being pulled out of school for a week for a family vacation I would jump up and down. I will still be their teacher when they come back but that family time together is so valuable.

This is why I love my district...summer starts May 25th enough time for me to get in and out of Disney before the major crowds come!
