So most of you seem to like Disney transportation. We always drive, but I must say the idea of not having to drive is alluring. Unfortunately I'd imagine we'd wind up calling taxis all the time just because we were impatient. Do you guys give in and call taxis or do you just always tough it out?

We have NEVER taken a taxi in two trips together. When things went wrong we called Disney and buses would come by. We are serious on saving money

I never thought of asking Disney for a bus! In all my trips I've only used a taxi once: when I was late for dinner reservations due to one of our party feeling ill. Otherwise, we always used the bus and they very convenient.

Only used taxi's when venturing off property. There always seems to be a bus when we need one, even when we were at AK about an hour after official closing time.
Aparently they have a 7 seat MPV that goes round checking bus stops all night to make sure no one is waiting and will give them a ride if there's no bus available straight away.

I didn't know they did that, that's good.

I have never taken a taxi (except for when leaving Disney property). I can't bring myself to pay for a taxi when there are free buses. I've never found the wait too bad anyway, even in summer when staying at the All Stars which share buses!

Do you guys just avoid trips that go from resort to resort? For example do you just not schedule an ADR at AKL if you're staying at Pop Century? Or do you just do bus to Animal Kingdom then bus to AKL? I'd be tempted to take a taxi rather than do that.

Well, for example I do plan on going to Boma this year, so I'll probably book an evening ADR and spend the day at AK first, then pop to AKL for Boma after that. Then hopefully I'll be able to time it with some evening EMH elsewhere and go straight to that other park from AKL once I've eaten. Probably not the smartest idea to go on rides straight after an all-you-can-eat. But I'll give it a go. biggrin

We've done that to get from DHS to DTD, we went via Carribean Beach although there was probably a better route.

Nope -we do them, we just know they will take extra time. It was easier when we stayed at the Contemporary, we just walked to MK and got on a bus the right resort. We also had really nice bus drivers that would be going to AK, and ask if our bus could switch to a AKL bus once we got to AK so we didn't have to change buses.

That was the only resort to resort we ever had any issues with. SOmetimes you have to think outside the box a little to make it go faster (know which resorts share buses and use transportation other than buses), but it isn't too bad.

Ask for the number at the front desk of your hotel - we had issues one time and called Disney transportation and complained and they gave us the number to call. And anyone can call if it has been more than 20 minutes since the last bus

Bussing seemed better last time we went - they seems to be changing here buses go based on need more now

Hi,

I take public transit here at home, so I have no problem with taking buses from resort to resort and transferring at a park. I would cab it to a restaurant off-property, but fear that the cab fare may be more than the cost of my meal.

Never taken a cab! POFQ has always had adequate bus service for us.

The only times I've taken a taxi is when going from resort to another resort at night for dinner because of the logistics. I have no patience to take a bus from my resort to a park and then catch another bus to the resort where the restaurant is. I'd rather pay cab fare. It's not expensive, maybe $10 one way.
