How warm is October...

Good Evening Folks...As I start my mission Disney,I'am noting down things to take in October..Now all our past five trips were in July, and us peelie wallie scots tend to burn quite easily..So we always take plenty of sunscreen and after sun..What are the tempertures in July like compared to middle of October..?.Thanks again..Will we still require as much as we take in July.?

It's a crap shoot--it hit 90 on at least four of the days that we were there in December. We have friends who have gone in October and needed jackets at night.

Cheers...I'll certainly be leaving my jackets at home..They would take up all my precious suitcase room..

We went from 90 degrees to 70 degrees. The breeze of the water in epcot was a little cool. We wore thin jackets one day.

For the past 2 years i have been going in October and the weather will vary from mid-80's during the day and mid-60's at night. And that is coming from my passporter as I track everything there.

We were lucky when we were there in October...it was overcast (but didn't rain) most of the days we were there so we only applied sunscreen in the morning and then didn't worry about it (this coming from a girl who's as pale as they come and am normally a little manic about reapplying during vacation so I don't get burnt!)

Like everyone else said, though, it really is a crapshoot so I'd bring it just in case. I'd hate for you to be burnt and miserable on your vacation!

We have had both hot and cool weather in October. You just never know. We always pack light sweaters or jackets just in case. Not as hot as summer though. You may wear shorts during the day but want to put on jeans or pants if you get cool like I do at night. wink

The Octobers that we've been to the world have been quite warm. We even had to rethink the Halloween costume for our GS as his was too warm for the weather.

I am really struggling to know what to pack for October/November, particularly shoes - I hate having cold feet. Was hoping to get a pair of Crocs sandals but am worried that in the morning/evening it will be too cold and I will have to swap shoes. Planning to take a few thin fleeces too for the cooler mornings/evenings, but again not sure what to do about trousers? When it's warm we will want to wear shorts, but don't want to have to change every evening into jeans. Guess we'll have a bag of stuff in the car if we are not going back to the townhouse for emergency changes.

Well my friend from Scotland, goes in October every year and says it's still very warm,so I'am going with my usual summer stuff...Flip flops for the parks during the day and trainers at night...

I went to WDW last October and was able to wander around in shorts and short sleeves for the entire time I was there. It rained once (a lot!) but even then it didn't really drop in temperature too much. I did a Halloween night at Universal with some friends and we were still wandering around in short sleeves at 1am in the morning.

I packed trainers and wore them for about 45 minutes on the first day of the holiday as it was too hot for them. I ended up spending the entire two weeks walking around in Disney logo'd Crocs!

All you have to watch out for is hurricane season...last year, I was lucky - the widely anticipated hurricane blew herself out in the Bay, but it did get uncomfortably humid for a few days and temps got up to mid-90s before dropping back to normal. It did make up by raining for a couple of hours and soaking me as I walked back to my car at Florida Mall...! Grrr!!

As Alli says, it can be a crapshoot otherwise...a couple of years back, I persuaded my colleague that it would be good to take his disabled daughter over for Christmas instead of going to DLP, telling him Florida never got really cold and that at least 20s would be the average. Boy, was I wrong! He happened to go over during one of the coldest periods in recent Florida history where temps got down to around 10-15 degrees apparently. I still feel guilty for telling him to go that year even now!

Attached is a photo I took at the Magic Kingdom for October last year...as you can see, the skies are blue, the grass is green and not a cloud to spoil the view....I'm sure you can guess where it was taken from!

(I've put a different pic up since!)

King Fergus...here's how bad the crap shoot is with weather in the southern US... today in Augusta, GA it was sunny and 68 degrees...tomorrow, we're looking at 20's and 30's with a possibility of 8 to 12 inches of snow!!!! Yesterday, the snow was slated for southern Georgia and northern Florida, but not Augusta or Atlanta...we don't know what it is going to do. The last time we had this scenario was 1973...ended up with 14 inches of snow in Augusta...thing is we get this so little that we are not able to handle it....EVERYTHING CLOSES!!!

you get 14 inches of snow and everything closes...over here in the UK - certainly Britain more than Fergus' Scotland - it snows less than an inch and everything grinds to a halt - and we're always anticipating the stuff!!

We close with a dusting ... it hasn't even started to rain and the surrounding counties are announcing school closings for tomorrow and Wednesday...it's not supposed to start until noonish...we could have gotten a half day in...now instead of making up one day, we're making up two days... If you want bread or milk, you're out of luck...stores ran out yesterday...
