We are thinking that we need annual passes for WDW. I cannot think of why we should not.
We will arrive in the Orlando area mid-October and stay at our membership campground 15 miles from WDW, which is basically free. We have reservations to stay at Fort Wilderness Nov. 3-14 with 10 day park hopper tickets and the dining plan. We may travel around southern Florida in January and February, but we will return to WDW in March for the Flower & Garden Festival (7-10 day tickets). We tentatively plan to leave Florida around April 1 to head north. We are both happy with the idea of spending more time around Orlando and at WDW as opposed to traveling each week to a different campground. In fact, I said I would be happy to visit the WDW parks 3-4 times a week from when we get there in October until April (~5 months).
When we were there in Nov. 2012 we met many local people who came to the parks for their daily walks, exercise, entertainment, meals and to meet friends. My DH said he's not sure he would go every other day, but I said I could. The cost is $675 each, no blackout dates. Compared to the cost of tickets for our 2 planned trips, it's just about a wash. I say we would save money by not having a dining plan, but yes, we would have many opportunities to eat at all the restaurants. I don't think we would have as much advance scheduling of Fast Passes, but I cannot go on many of the dizzying rides anyway.
We still plan to stay at Fort Wilderness in November. I don't think having the annual passes would change that, but if we do get the AP's I'm wondering if we would keep the dining plan?? Also a big question I have is can we change the 10-day park hopper tickets to AP's during our trip in November or do we need to do that prior to our final payment in September? I'll call to confirm that and we appreciate any other questions you can think of.
(Sorry this is so long.)
