TSA and Pedometer question

I hope someone can answer this question for me. This is the first time am going to Disney with a Pedometer and I would like to have it on my either in my pocketbook or carry-on as I really want to see how much walking I do when at Disney. So does anyone know if I can just leave it in my pocketbook (like my cell phone) or do I have to show them?
Thanks

It should be fine in your purse through security.

If you have a smartphone, it might be easier to download a ped app like Moves or Pacer which will auto track wherever you walk as long as the phone is with you...I use Moves and it clocked me doing at least 20k steps over 8 or so hours at the park!

I have a FitBit and remove it from my pants and pop it into my pocketbook when I go through Security. Never have a problem. On one of our trips I logged 7 - 8 miles each day! awesome

Thread hijack! Nhshorty...how do you like the FitBit? Does it just track your mileage each day? Does it connect to a smart phone? Thanks!

To answer the OP: The FitBit is just like any other personal electronics when going through TSA. Pop it into the X-ray tray and pick it up at the other end, you'll be fine.

Eeyore, I have the cheapest, fewest featured FitBit that is made: The FitBit Zip. It tracks the number of steps, the mileage, and the number of calories burned based on activity + sex and BMI. Check out the sort of things that it can track on my account: https://www.fitbit.com/user/2595XT. I'll be the first to admit that I don't use the FitBit app nearly to it's fullest measure, I just use it as a simple step counter. Once you have the FitBit set up, it will reset the counts to zero ad midnight every day, and it stores as much as 7 days worth of data before it starts rolling off of the device.

My FitBit links with my iPhone 5 perfectly, through Bluetooth. I was not able to get it to connect through my (unsupported) Android phone before I upgraded to the iPhone. If your phone has "Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) capability, you should be able to use it just fine.

I love my FitBit. I work in retail at the moment, and since I got the FB in 2013, I've walked over 1000 miles. No wonder my feet hurt when I get home! Laughing out loud

If you want to manage it through your computer or if your phone is unsupported, there is a USB dongle in the package, and you just need to download the free software.

One thing to consider as our family tried this a few trips back. When you get on a ride, the bumping will record you walking an incredible distance, so after realizing the first two days were not 20 mile days, we had to record and reset ours. If you have the really nice ones that you can pause, great. Something we just never considered.

" rolling rolling rolling rolling rolling rolling the number of calories burned based on activity + sex and BMI." I had to read it twice to realize you meant "gender" rolling rolling rolling rolling

Thank you! That was the best laugh all day!

Wow. Thank you so much for sharing! I have been eyeing this little gadget for a while, but have not personally spoken to someone who has used it. This has kinda helped me make my decision. What retailer did you purchase yours through?

Thanks! I am so excited! clapping

NHshorty is currently on the road in Austin, may not be able to reply in a timely fashion. I know she has had to replace her fit bit a couple of times.

She will be home Tuesday and we'll be heading to the world Thursday.

I have a FitBit One and love it! It syncs to my iPhone and tracks steps, mileage, stairs... And it also syncs to the MyFitnessPal app (and other calorie trackers), and adjusts your burnt calories based on how much you walk. It also judges if your activity was light/moderate/vigorously paced. It's a neat little gadget!

I had a FitBit Ultra and LOVED it! I lost it somewhere in Vegas......not as good a story as it sounds! So I replaced it with a FitBit One and I don't like it as much. It records steps, cal burned and stairs climbed - which is cool - but I want my old one back....just don't want to spend $99 for it... eek
