I wouldn't eat there again...

So I'm nearing my 180 days and have been putting together our planned adrs, most are wdw staples and places we have never been too including mama Melrose, crystal palace, cinders royal table ect.

Now here's the point of this thread last visit due to the great feedback we went to 50s prime and dine, we loved the theme, loved the staff and LOVED the atmosphere and show however the food wasn't great. We are travelling with first timers and although I would go to dad's bar for a milkshake I wouldn't run back to eat there. I do however think it's worth everyone trying.

So my question where have you eaten that just didn't hit the spot???

ABC Commissary. Plenty of food but we found the burgers and chicken pretty blah....

The first time we went to Biergarten/Epcot was wonderful. So the next trip I told my girlfriend we have to eat dinner there and so we did and for me it was just 'ok' and my girlfriend thought the same thing. So I didn't give up I gave it one more try 2 years ago and it wasn't what I remembered from my 1st visit so unfortunately they are off my list. But I know other people love it.

Ooh...Let me get my suit of armour on first, before I answer your question... eek That's better...Le Cellier in 2008..So looking forward to our first signature experience...Booked 180 days in advance..Three of us waited 30 mins after our 8.00 slot...Were seated at a small table, right at the door..Starters were nice ( signature soup ) but the fillet steaks were pretty poor..chewy and way overdone...Yes I did complain but the new steaks that came out the kitchen were cooked the same way..Due to that fact I wouldn't step back into that restaurant even if you payed me..It's our only bad dining experience at WDW..

La celier also gets my vote.Went back in the pre DDP days and just walked straight in no wait but the food was meh and like KF my steak was a little wookie.
Possibly the most overhyped restaraunt on property ...

Chef Mickeys - noisy, rushed, Character interaction was too brief, too many unsupervised small children, and just 'meh' food.

No armor necessary, I think that Le Cellier's reviews have dropped significantly so I don't think there will be a lot of people coming after you!

Chef Mickey's for me. Loud, crazy, overpriced, and mediocre food. No thanks.

Years ago we tried Hollywood and Vine and were notably underwhelmed. We both thought the food was pretty Bligh.

And I agree about the ABC Commissary.

I was so looking forward to Ohana after all the glowing reviews....

What annoys me about many WDW restaurants is this pretense that they are fine dining establishments. Reservations, checking in, the prices, the fancy descriptions in the menu, etc. Then after waiting 45 minutes past your ADR time, you're seated at a table that was just gone over with a wet filthy rag and not even dried. Your utensils and napkin are thrown on this table. Then eventually a waiter appears and you're treated to some dried up I don't know what bread. Tasteless wings and rock hard dumplings are thrown in a pot barely warm. And then they come around with some pretty over-cooked tough ass meat on skewers. Peel your own shrimp- c'mon it's a restaurant; prepare the damn food for eating. And then you split this huge thing for dessert that looks like it was already eaten. The waiter was so slow that I was afraid to give him my KTTW, so I left cash and ran out before that awful fake hula dancer came back.

Ok maybe I exaggerate, but I was not impressed.

Ditto to this one. There are some that are just better at DH.

To add to the list is the UK one because frankly, it's boring. I can eat bangers and mash or fish/chips here. In Wisconsin we ccall it Fri nite fish fry.

The other is just because of an incident that now leaves us twitching enough not to go there. We went as a couple to Liberty Tree in MK for lunch about 6 yrs ago and it was very nice. My husband LOVED his pot roast and my pasta was okay. It was hot and I just wasn't into a heavy meal. They were also very sweet about our anniversary as there was Mickey glitter all over our table.
The next time we went was with our DSs for dinner buffet (no characters) and food.... blah. The turkey didn't have flavor and the potatoes, gravy and stuffing had the flavor of a "mix". I love my veggies but corn is....well, corn.

The part that made us less than excited is really no fault of them, other than the way they handled it but there was a family with, as my sons so delicately put it, a devil child. He cried LOUDLY the whole dinner. They would take him out for a brief walk for which everyone was grateful and when they came back in he was quiet until he hit that high chair and it would start all over. When I say loud, I am talking ear piercing, ear ringing, and for which the staff was profusely apologizing. Not their fault, but after 30 minutes couldn't someone mention to the group that others were also trying to dine? We couldn't even hear each other and the parents in us wanted to grab the kid and take him out fro a rocking session. Too bad too because we really don't excited about too many TS at MK because my husband doesn't "do" animals while he eats. yuck

Well, 'Ohana is not and has never been listed as a "fine dining" establishment.
We don't go there often , but never waited more than 10 minutes after our scheduled ADR time to be seated.
Never had a wet table or utensils thrown on the table.
Bread has always been fresh and warm.
Wings & dumplings were always good and hot.
Bar-B-Q shrimp, never saw them cooked any other way than with the shell still on , so they don't dry out.
The meats, beef we've asked for well done and med rare and gotten both off the same skewer. As for the Chicken and Pork, i hope the are done well.
Dessert, was never big on the bread pudding so I never had it, but looks like any other bread pudding i've seen.
For the "fake Hula Dancer" all part of the show and theme Colonel.

Agree about ABC Commissary. I'd also skip Lotus Blossom Cafe in Epcot and maybe all of China in terms of Epcot food. I can get better Chinese food in my hometown.

I'm glad your experiences at Ohana were satisfactory and you enjoyed the hula. Mine was not. Serving millions of meals as it does, Disney is bound to serve up some stinkers and I was probably at Ohana on a bad night with a bad server.I have to conclude that, since there are so very many positive reviews of the place. The alternative is that most people don't know what good food or good service is and that can't be right, can it? I've eaten at Le Cell four times and three times were stellar and once was awful so it happens. But at any rate, that was my experience at Ohana.

There are several restaurants that I wouldn't rush back to, but I might be willing to give them a try again in the future. I wasn't blown away by Le Cellier, Sci-Fin Dine-In, 50's Prime Time (we're actually giving this one a second try on this trip), and Wolfgang Puck Express to name a few. It wasn't that they were bad, but the value that I got for the money and the quality that I experienced on an isolated trip did not meet or exceed my expectations.

The only one that is likely to be permanently off the list for us is Starring Rolls bakery. This was undoubtedly the source of DH's magical food poisoning and he's not anxious to return there ever. It's kind of a shame--my sandwich was delicious and the pastries looked lovely, but once bitten, twice shy eek

Well, you all know how I feel about The Coral Reef....so I will not beat a dead horse.

I was underwhelmed with Le Cellier. It is "good", but not wonderful. I've eaten there twice now and it was just an average steak to me. Def. not worth $45.

50's Prime Time - Food is actually pretty good, but service is so hit or miss. Since the service is majority of the reason I like that place, I will not be back for a while. 1st visit was awesome, 2nd visit was a bust.

Restaurant Marakesh (sp?)- Food was terrible. I've eaten this type of food before here in Charlotte, and it was amazing. The one, only, last visit to this place was a bust.

I have three chefs de france, restaurant Marrakesh and Hollywood and vine, the only bad experience I had was at chefs de france, the others were just kinda bland food wise, the entertainment at Marrakesh was good though but not worth it for the food for me

I think the biggest misses for me have all been places building up in my mind for 180 days. It is really hard for any place to live up to our dreams and a miss can happen at any time. With that said for me I didn't enjoy kona cafe at breakfast it was a miss for me. Tonga toast wasn't what I could do again to much bread for my palate. Kouzzina the steaks tasted like they had been grilled and stuck in broth and rocks dressed up as potatoes. Cape may clam bake busted missed all across the board for us. I'm glad we experienced these places and would encourage anyone to try them too. I would say it's my goal this year to not hype any place up but find places that interest me, book then think about it again when I'm live in the place reading the menus.

I've eaten at a few WDW restaurants that I feel no need to rush back to, but nowhere that I would absolutely scratch off the list of possible places to eat.

Hollywood and Vine was a huge miss for my boyfriend and I. We went for dinner, didn't like the buffet offerings and the waitress brought us new drinks before we were finished with our drinks.

I'm almost afraid to say how disappointed I was at Kouzzina. There were marks on the steak where the jockey used the whip.

I wasn't crazy about Le Cellier. I was really looking forward to trying based on my friend's love of this restaurant. The first turn off for me was the strong fish smell when we first walked in. I wasn't real impressed with it.

I have two places that we probably wouldn't go back to. First is Whispering Canyon Cafe for breakfast. We were just not in to the whole routine the waiters do. In the morning we just want to relax and enjoy our coffee, the joking was kind of lost on us. Also the food did not make us want to come back either. The second is Sci-Fi dine in. I am glad we tried it but we were not impressed with the food at all. It was a fun experience but I can't see us putting it on our list of places to go back to.

That must have been a specific day's "catch of the day"? We have been there four times and it was never fishy and trust me I am picky about smells.

Mine is Biergarten. It was an absolute disaster and was sadly the last meal of our trip. We had later reservations, discovered the music and entertainment ended 15 minutes after we arrived, the buffet was shut down to half and really only had the food that remained from the rest of the night. It was incredibly blah. I was so bummed out since I was thoroughly enjoying the music and festivities when it ended. Service was slow, slow, slow so even when we tried to eat and jet to see Illuminations for some entertainment we missed it because we couldn't find our server to cash out.

50's Prime Time was a disappointment too but only because our "family member" had no enthusiasm and it was no different than eating anywhere else. I WOULD give it another shot though hoping we had a more lively server since the food was good.

I guess thinking about it we've never had a meal/restaurant that we didn't enjoy. We once had an 'older' server at 50s who was a bit slow/grumpy and less than enthusiastic. We put it down to her being on the wrong side of a loooong shift. Food wise, I've had some average food and some awesome, but nothing I thought about sending back or couldn't eat.

While I would put Chef Mickeys on my list of do not need to do again, I would not say I would not do it again. If we were traveling with someone who really wanted to do it, I would. That being said, I will say it is my least favorite of all of the character meals.
