Ice Skating

I saw this on the Mouse for Less:

Ice Skating at Downtown Disney
Guests will soon be able to ice skate right into the world of Tinker Bell at a new ice skating rink located between AMC 12 Theatres and the ESPN Zone at Downtown Disney. A limited operation soft-opening will happen as early as Friday, October 19, with the grand opening on October 23. Plus, starting November 12, a special holiday village will surround the rink, with themed chalets where guests can purchase seasonal foods and merchandise. The new "Secret of the Wings" ice skating rink will also feature special music and lighting effects. Skates will be available for rent, and helmets and wrist guards will be provided and required for each skater's safety. Open to all ages, the skating rink will remain open during the holiday season. Pricing is as follows:

$15 - Adults and Children
$12 - Toddlers
$3 - Skate Rental

What are your thoughts about skating at Disney? I would like to check it out. However I have a feeling that it will end up being a bunch of children skating out of control and you'll have to spend more time watching out for them than having a lesiurely skate.

confused Is this happening at the WDW Downtown Disney too? I know that it's happening at Disneyland. I know that ESPN Zone and the AMC are right across the walkway from each other there. Isn't the ESPN Zone at the Boardwalk in Florida?

Here's the piece from DisneyParks:

The Downtown Disney District in California has a more local and grown up crowd. It might be okay for skating without being run down by kids.

It's okay. I had gotten confused as well at first, and then I had to go searching for the article to see if I was wrong. It's all good! biggrin

If they are talking about California you will hear it called "Dowtown Disney District" in official sources. I see that MouseSavers hadn't made that distinction. They could still decided to do it in Florida too!

Yeah, I would be all about that, too, if it came to Florida. Horrible, horrible ice skater I am, but there's something magical about it...even if you're terrible at it. I would think the extra Tinkerbell pixie dust would be a neat addition, too.

Fingers crossed that "we" get it, too! Smile
