Ideas for a surprise trip

We have gone the past 2 years and were waiting to go until 2016, but my awesome husband told me to go ahead and book again this year. I, of course, did not hesitate in anyway. I love my daughter more than anything, but she does not deal well with excitement so we never tell her we are going. I guess at 9 years old none of us did!

In 2013 we told her we were going to Kentucky on a business trip and then we gave her the Magic Bands when we landed in Orlando. Last year we woke her up at 4am and told her we had a movie for her to watch ( I had made a fantastic movie trailer using iMovie that featured her as a princess).

I am out of ideas for this year! Any suggestions? TIA

Those are some very cute ideas. That last one will be hard to top, but I'm guessing the creative folks on the forum will be able to help!

Although admittedly not flying anywhere I have used:
the business trip,
I went to the beach (actually pulled into the car park, then turned around and went the rest of the way)
one time we did fly it was that I had to go, when we got out at the airport I said DS could come too.
Trip to collect a parcel (100 mile drive for a parcel!)
I pretended I had a specialist hospital appointment for my legs that was in a hospital towards where our destination (I do have a medical condition so was not a made up condition)

How about a pixie dust postcard? Get someone out there to get guest services to send one? I've heard lots of people do this and love it.
Or a scavenger hunt of clues? Using the drive to the aiprort? With the flight number being the last clue?

Some of my favourite 'surprise the kids!' videos were ones with little Disney gift bags! Get her a new pair of Disney PJ's and some fun stuff to do on the plane/in the car that are Disney themed. Finish it off by letting her open the MagicBand box. Maybe have a little custom shirt made up for her (the iron on ones are cheap and fun to make Smile) with her name and some Mickey ears on it...

... I need to get some kids so I can start doing this stuff rolling

Sometimes I think that. Then I'll be at Toys R us or the movie theater or even at Disney and watch some kids melt down and make everyone within earshot miserable, and I think....naaaahhhhh.

Hahahaha... I'm sure having kids is both rewarding and challenging... I really just want someone that I can drag along on Disney trips with me against their will. Kids fit the bill!

Drag her along someplace boring. Whatever she thinks is boring - a museum, a documentary film, Great Aunt Hortense's house, etc. Do it at least two or three times! Then tell her you're going that same place again (don't let her see the luggage in the car trunk), pull into the airport instead, and show her the Magic Bands.

This is brilliant.

My friends from PA just gave their kids a surprise WDW vacation a few weeks ago.

They have 3 kids ages 7-11. My friend told her kids she was picking them up early from school for their dentist appointments. She always schedules all 3 kids on the same day, so the kids didn't suspect anything. When the kids got in the car, there were 3 boxes in the backseat. Mom told the kids to open them on the count of 3 and each box had a pair of Disney ears. Mom and Dad both then asked the kids "would you rather go to the dentist or Disney world?" Of course they screamed "Disney world" and Mom and Dad then said "then it's a good thing we're on our way to the airport right now!" The kids went nuts!!!!

She posted the video to Facebook and it was adorable! The kids were so surprised and happy!

Thanks for all the great ideas! Our flight is 6:30a, so
I am a bit limited. Though the idea of waking her up at 4am a few times and just driving around and then heading right home is intriguing. Hey little one let's go on our weekly, random drive before dawn.

Flight at dawn, yeah, that's going to be a bit hard to work with. But give us time, I'm sure someone will come up with something.

How wonderful! Honestly, I'm horrible about keeping secrets when I'm excited about something - like going to Disney! I don't think that I would ever be able to keep that quiet.
