Illuminations party!...really?

Okay, we have all read about the new champagne and dessert party at Epcot a few nights a week with a hefty price tag. (We do Wishes because it's about half the price). A friend that I sing with is leaving tomorrow with hubby (annual pass holders so they try EVERYTHING at least once), BUT this is one they are passing on.

She said she called to see if there were any openings for one of their nights, and apparently there were a lot of openings. Not only is is $59 per person, it is STANDING PARTY ONLY. There is no seating at this event, for the eating or the viewing! What!?!?! If I am going to "enjoy" bubbly for a few hours and then watch the fireworks, I want something to at least lean on.

She said she asked TWICE for the CM to clarify if they go to a "roped off place to sit and watch" and the answer both times was NO. So she called back and talked to another CM and got the same answer. This couple are 20 yr annual pass holders and they aren't doing this! gaah

We will stick with Wishes and sit! My DH says $22 for the seat is worth it to him (he's not fooling me....they have chocolate!) awesome

Very interesting. I wonder if there are those tall tables to stand next to and rest your plate & glass on.

Maybe I'm wrong but when we were there, they had an area roped off that had the tall tables, and the CM said it was a dessert party and they had champagne glasses. I can't remember exactly where it was, but somewhere near the Akershus Royal Banquet Hall if I remember right, maybe a little before and down next to the water. They did have the tall glass tables and no seats, but there were walls everywhere they were sitting on.

I believe there was a review of it on the food blog. Seems like there were a few tall tables if I remember reading it correctly. I was very excited about this when I first saw it but the review turned me off of it. sad

There were a couple other reviews that looked and sounded very different but they had VIP/Private event in the title...

That is the viewing area that is used for the CP Dinner Package. It is NOT a good viewing area. It used to be, but now you are not allowed down to the fence. It is roped off for safety reasons and you are kept well back from the water.
