I've been reading/hearing that BLT is selling out faster than any DVC - even faster than BCV sad

Anyone know or is this just hype? I am so sad sad

Well I'd guess the only way anyone could "know" that was because Disney/DVC told them so, which they have every reason to want people to believe. wink

Yea, but this was told to someone who has already bought at BLT - this person just signed his 23rd DVC contract!

I'd also keep things in context. Just because BLT isn't your home doesn't mean you can't stay there. I always imagine if I bought DVC I wouldn't want to stay in the same place every visit anyway.

Besides you'll just buy the new DVC offering at the Poly! biggrin

In fact, the smart person (which I WASN'T one of), would buy the cheapest DVC points you could find (probably Vero), because you CAN use them to stay anywhere, and in 14 years of DVC membership I've never NOT gotten to stay where I wanted with six or seven months notice.

LOL, I was reading a thread about DVC at Poly on another board - so many people would love it

I thought about this option, but aren't the older resorts resellers?

Something tells me Disney will listen. There's no reason not to add DVC to their most popular resorts.

Seems concerns are land and the fact that BLT and WLV are so close

Yep, but the points work the same no matter who you get them from.

My concern was/is contract length

I know I've had a DVC rep tell me that Disney's allowed to resort resell points to 50 years. Not sure if that's been done yet, but he did mention that it's possible.

(I guess Disney can do whatever they want...!) Smile

If you buy points on the resell market for Vero (or ANY of the resorts), you'll pay a fraction of what you'll pay for any of the NEW properties.

A trade off of a few years of ownership just has to be weighed against the cost.

You always make good points wink
I was just looking at the resell chart for 2010

My Brit friends actually have points at one of the WDW resorts (don't recall which), and a bunch at Vero and they don't seem to have trouble getting anything they want.

I'd probably base it on maintenance fees.

Yes, that was my next thought - older resorts have much higher maintenance fees - for obvious reasons!

I'm not sure how exactly they work out the maintenance fees. Kidani village was high, supposedly because of the Animals and BLT was low, BUT they can adjust those by up to like 20% per year if they want, so I wouldn't worry a ton about it. I think if I recall some of the DVC only properties like OKW are really inexpensive both in point cost and maint fees right now and I've really not heard many stories about people being unable to get their resort just because it's not their home.

Yes I have found it not to be a problem getting what I want. I usually book at SSR (my home resort) at 11 months out so if I can't get what I want later I always have that to fall back on. Just TODAY I called member services and requsted 2 full weeks at AKV Jambo house Savana view and had no problem getting it, so I cancelled SSR, and Jambo House here we come!! clapping 16 Jan. 10 to 31 Jan. 10.
