Joe turns 40 ***LIVE*** from the bubble trip report!

Well here it is again. Pre-trip Report time. I have been patiently awaiting this trip and hoping Joe wouldn't change his mind since he told me to book it. While I am the Disney-fanatic in this house, I am slowly bringing him around to my way of thinking and when HE suggested Disney for HIS 40th birthday, I clicked the button to book it before he could finish saying "do it"! When we were talking the other night, I said I didn't know what to get him for his birthday. He said "well, you know I like golf, hockey, the Penguins, shirts and Disney." I about fell off the couch! laugh Anywho, I digress... Here we goooooo...

It's just me and Joe traveling this time. Me " 40 and happy for him to be somewhat catching up to me in age and Joe, actually turning 40 the day before we head down. He is an avid golfer and the purpose of this trip was for him to hit a couple of his bucket list courses in the area. It was his suggestion to stay at AKL (our first DVC stay). The plans that stand now are:

Tuesday Sept 15 (his birthday) My dad is coming into town to keep Blondie. He will be staying at our house since we live about 5 minutes from her school. We were wanting to leave this day but dad can't get here until that evening. I am hoping I am off work so that I can get everything done and cook a good birthday dinner.

Wednesday Sept 16 Wake up early. I am setting an alarm this time!!! waiting I want to just grab a bite for breakfast and make it to Orlando for lunch. Not too sure about this yet as we are both on diets and fried chicken for lunch along with our dinner plans may be a bit much. We are going to TRY hit The Coop in Winter Park. www.asouthernaffair.com It is owned by the same guy who has our other favorite restaurant in FL, 4Rivers Smokehouse. I am pretty excited about this since it would be our first time! After that, we are going to head over to The Character Outlet to see if we can find some good deals. We then check into our home for the evening. Bay Hill Club and Lodge. We will be heading out to Giordano's for dinner then turning in after a long day of travel and delicious eats! www.giordanos.com

Thursday Sept 17 Another early morning. This time for golf. I'm not sure yet of the tee time or if they are going to let him play as a single or pair him with someone. Either way, I will probably ride along with him. I like going to the different courses with him and taking pictures of him as he plays and of the courses themselves. After his round, IT'S TIME TO HEAD TO ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE!!!!! I have already checked in online. I requested a Sunset Savannah View, I hope it's a good choice. We will then head to AK for the rest of the day. We will try to wait until we get to AKL or AK to grab a bite to eat. I have fast passes picked out. I'm not sure if we will make the first one (I am not counting on it) but I don't mind waiting for a show if we don't. We have

12:30-12:50 FotLK
2:30-3:30 Expedition Everest
3:30-3:50 Finding Nemo

The exciting part is next! We head to the Grand Floridian this evening for the Fireworks Cruise with some of the WDWFGU! I was going to make this a surprise for Joe but I just couldn't keep it in.

Friday Sept 18 Joe is going to be playing golf locally, Isleworth. He's talked about this course since we met. I know he is really excited. I am going to hang back at the resort and do my own this this morning. I may meet up with Mr Hub and Scrappy in MK for some breakfast and I'm considering Keys to the Kingdom. I can't decide. I would really like to do the tour with Joe so I am still up in the air on it. More fast passes for this day which are

2:35-2:50 Frozen Sing Along
4:15-5:15 Rock 'n' Roller Coaster
5:25-6:25 Tower of Terror

I am quite sure Joe is most looking forward to the Frozen Sing Along! yay Since I didn't select a 3rd option, this is what it plugged in for us!

Tonight is the birthday boy's dinner. We went round and round making a selection on this. He wanted Cali Grill but since we did that for my 40th I wanted something different... I know I know, it's his birthday blah blah blah LOL. We looked over menus for days then someone posted pics on the Foodies website for Yachtsman and we were done.

Now, the UN-magical part... If you remember from our cruise TR, Joe is a lover of plain cheesecake. I made that happen on the ship, in the middle of the ocean. This should be super easy at Disney World, right??? NOPE. I consulted with the experts and was given a number to call. The Special Order Cake line or something like that. They young lady I spoke with (I wish I had gotten her name before I hung up) was given my specifics. We are having dinner at the YS on 9/18/15 @8:20. I see the menu only has chocolate or lemon cheesecake. Is there a way to get a plain one or even just one piece. I was on hold for quite some time. She did come on the line once telling me she was making calls. Finally I got a no mam, we can't do that. Only White Chocolate and Lemon are available. No sorry, no have a magical day, NOTHING. Honestly, if it weren't for "For the First Time in Forever" playing while on hold, I would have never thought I had called Disney. Needless to say, I was devastated. I didn't give up. I emailed the help desk on Disney.com and got a response with a different number. Again, no luck but I did get "have a magical day" at the end of the call. I finally went on to the Floral and Gifts website and emailed a Dream Maker. Well that they did!!! I now have a PLAIN cheesecake (not even the fruit that comes as decoration) ordered!!! It's an 8" and it was $40.00.

Saturday Sept 19 Early morning again? YEP! This time we are driving down to Streamsong www.streamsongresort.com for another day of golf. I actually discovered this course and he has wanted to play it since he saw pictures. I am going with him because I really want to photograph this course! It's beautiful and I hope it lives up to it in person.

That evening I have fast passes set up for MK

4:05-5:05 Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
5:15-6:15 Jungle Cruise (first time!)
8:15-9:15 Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

After I want to try to get into the Grotto for a bit if it's not to packed! If it is, then I guess I will have to have a Lapu Lapu up at Tambu...

Sunday Sept 20 It's check out day... Breakfast is at Boma at 9:15. After we head to Epcot for our Soarin' fastpass. Yep, just the one... We wanted to fit it in and this is the only time we will have. Then the long (not so sad cause I will be back on Thursday) ride home.

I'm really looking forward to this trip since it will be our first DVC visit and we get to do a few things off property. Can't wait to report live from the bubble again!

Isn't Giordanos amazing??? My hubby first had it in Chicago. When they started traveling to Tampa and Orlando for kids hockey and found it they all went crazy. Now we try to get it everytime we go. This time is a must since we missed out in November!

40th birthdays at WDW are the BEST!!! One of our favorite dinners while in Orlando is a pizza from Giordano's. We order when we get in the car after a long day in the parks and we eat it in the hotel room. So yummy awesome

I am finally looking into this! YUM!!! I am getting his 2nd favorite cheesecake delivered to the house for his birthday here. We have a local food truck called Dulce. www.dulcetruck.com She does a cheesecake covered in caramel and BACON! It is divine! She also did all of the desserts for our wedding and everyone raved about the cheesecake. They all called us crazy but it works!

That cheesecake looks and sounds fab. I like odd flavours (salami and peanut butter anyone?) it makes you wonder how someone came up with the idea! Sounds like a great trip

Well, plans they are a changing... and we are only 8 days away!!!

Tee of for Thursday is 10:20. This will put us at AKL closer to 4 something and AK closes at 5 so that has been totally scrapped. I picked up a couple fast passes for MK but with the Fireworks Cruise, we may just relax at the resort before heading that way. I may have to fit AK in for a bit on my free day Friday. I can't miss Everest!

Things are coming together, I already have my packing list set and I've ironed most of my stuff already. I am in scrubs all week and we have NOTHING planned between now and next week so I don't need "real" clothes lol. I'm also checking out GoPro cameras (this may end up being my b-day/Christmas present for the Thanksgiving trip) Unless I find time between now and next Tuesday to actually go look at some.

I still don't have a Streamsong tee time to add to the list, he is supposed to call "his guy" this week.

WOO HOO!!! We are getting closer!

So, I have grand plans for my Free Day Friday!!!

4 Parks 1 Day!!!!!
I've wanted to do this since I have recently changed my perspective on Park Hopping... I want to hit at least one ride and get at least one pic with a character in each park. This is what I have planned...

Park 1 Animal Kingdom - I am planning on being there as soon as they open. Tarzan, Russell and Dug are on my radar as well as single rider line for Everest.

Park 2 Magic Kingdom - Talking Mickey is first and foremost. I am actually kinda creeped out by the videos I have seen but I am going to do it.... What do you say to the world's most famous mouse when he can talk back to you??? Carousel of Progress and the Train are on my list. I have never done either of them so it's a time of firsts in MK!!!

Park 3 Epcot - Going to utilize my Disney Visa to meet the character that is there. Single rider Test track and maybe Spaceship Earth or Living with the Land. If Soarin isn't too bad, I may jump in that line.

Park 4 Hollywood Studios - Mike and Sully first then off to The Great Movie Ride or if I am lucky Toy Story Mania. Joe will meet up with me here for our fast passes before we head out for his birthday dinner! I hope I don't fall asleep at dinner!!! LOL

I think I can I think I can I think I can.....

I think you'll have a lot of fun doing all 4 in a day. You've got a great plan, with just a few things planned at each park.

We do all 4 parks in one day a few times a year. Once we realized to just plan on a few things at each park, and add on things if time allowed, we really had fun.

I may improvise some but I am gonna stick as close to it as I can. Hopefully I get a good start before Joe even starts his round of golf and time it right to just meet up at HS!

Good morning everyone! The trip has begun! We decided last minute to head down early. Joe's birthday was yesterday, it was a pretty low key day. We both worked and he had hockey practice. After, dad took us to pick up the rentalamd we were on our way! After a couple stops and lots of rain, we arrived in St. Augustine around midnight. He has decided to add another round of golf today... so we head back north a little ways before being Orlando bound this afternoon! One more sleep til Disney!

Well, we made it to resort number 2. Golf this morning was a success. We went to the World Golf Village and he played the King and the Bear. It was a nice course but Joe said he wouldn't play it again They had tons of cancellations because of the wet conditions. They said it has rained every day for 2 months and just got 1.5 inches yesterday. When we got to the turn, the course ranger brought us ICE COLD mango scented towels to cool off with. They were heavenly!! I have to remember to do this for the next time we go golfing at home. As we finished up and were putting the clubs in the truck, the rain started again. Lucky us!

We headed on down towards Orlando with a stop in Winter Park to eat at The Coop. I was afraid if we had left this morning we wouldn't get down in time for it and be able to have dinner. It was delicious. I had fried chicken, mashed potatoes and the best creamed corn I've ever had. Joe got the chicken pot pie, beans, broccoli, mac and cheese and cornbread. WOW, that cornbread, it was so sweet it was like candy. I also found a Havana Soda that was amazing. It is basically coke with lime but so delicious.

We are now checked into Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club and Lounge. It's really nice and with out ClubCorp Membership, we got a really good deal.

About to head out to shop at the PGA Superstore, have Girodano's for dinner then SURPRISE!!!! Go to Disney!!! stars stars I was not planning on this tonight but Joe said "let's do it!" I am not going to deny him!

Back in the room and ready to pass out. With rain and traffic, we didn't make it to the parks but we did go to Disney Springs.

The new PGA Superstore is huge. The biggest we've been in. New grip on the putter and a new outfit for Blondie. The it was rain rain rain and traffic traffic traffic on the way to dinner. Giordano's didn't disappoint as usual. It was almost 7 when we were leaving there and traffic was still backed up. We still had to go take our "green AP cards" to get "activated for our APs so we just went to Disney Springs. The parking garage is really nice. I love the signs that tell you which aisles have spaces and the green lights where each one is. We walked down to World of Disney, did a little shopping and stopped at Erin McKenna's. We made it down to the World of Disney before calling it a night. Back to the room to rest up for round 2 and checking into AKL yay
