Juggling Mobile "Work" Gear

My upcoming trip is a working trip. I'm not taking much time off from my job, and on top of that I have tons of research to do for the WDWFG Blog. In addition my traveling companion is working on his Masters Degree and will have a big paper do right at the end of our trip, so he'll be online a considerable amount of time. Yikes! I'm trying to figure out how I can work it all in without being tied to the hotel room! I think that he's stuck, but I may be able to get my research done done from my phone. Fingers crossed.

I know that several folks on this board have iPhones, but do you work on them? I've never really used mine for posting, being on a message board, or taking notes on a subject because the screen is so tiny. Do you know of an app that I can write a document on that's better than Notes? What do you all use?

I'm not sure how much gear I want to have to carry and juggle. I'm toying with the idea of bringing my husbands iPad (pre-camera version) along, but I'm not sure it would help that much. It would have a bigger screen, but it doesn't have 3G and I'm not sure how the WiFi is in the parks. What do you guys think?

OR... should I just take a pen and paper? Maybe that would be easier. I just can't seem to decide this time.

Maybe I can help you out a bit here since I do a lot of webwork out and about.

I use a combination of MacBook, iPad (New Gen), and iPhone (Now it will be the 5). For blogging it kinda depends on the board. I know there is an app for WordPress that makes blogging for me SUPER EASY. Ill blog from my iPhone because of how easy it is to use. But if im doing a lot of typing... ill use either my iPad or my MacBook. Now... if your worried about internet access. I recommend getting a Hot Spot. Like right now... im at Starbucks chillin while my daughter is at Preschool. I am using the internet here on my MacBook but using my Verizon Jetpack for my iPad. The internet here at Starbucks is fast enough for the internet, but on my iPad I want to listen to music, and Starbucks wont allow me to use that much bandwidth, so ill use my Jetpack for that. Plus... it has LTE... so I have download speeds close to what I have at home. Depending on what carrier you have and what plan... My family got the Unlimited Talk/Text/20 Gig Data plan at Verizon. Its beautiful. I added the Jetpack to it... and now have mobile internet everywhere! Kids can watch movies from Netflix in the car if they want. Lately its been that Disney Channel app.

As for work. I really could do everything on my iPhone. Especially now that I have LTE on it. LTE isnt everywhere, but when I have it... its awesome. Here below are a couple articles highlighting their favorite apps for note taking.

Pages is real nice, but its $10. To me its worth it and MUCH better than notes, but thats just me.

Im kinda scattered brained right now so not sure if I answered your question really... if I think of more... ill post more... lol

I'll have my laptop in the room for use, but I really do not want to have to lug it around the parks. Though I'm all Mac I have to write my documents in Word. I've had trouble in the past with Pages translating to Word, do you have any experience with that using the app? I think I can handle one of the blogs I work on via email, but I'm a little lost as to how incorporate pictures into it. Perhaps I should make a few trial runs before I leave.

I've also been considering doing the Instagram thing while I'm traveling, but that would be all new to me.

I'll go check out those links, thanks!

For pictures and iOS.... Apple made it a little easier now to incorporate pictures into word files. Just put your finger over the image and then select copy, then paste it to whatever you want.

As for Pages. Been ages since ive used it. Im thinking until Office comes out for iOS... the easiest may be to use My Office. Its Office online basically, and it saves the files onto your SkyDrive (An online hard drive).

I have not tried to see if it works on an iPad... but I honestly dont see why not. Say if Safari doesnt work... try Google Chrome.... but I think Safari will work. THAT may be your best solution and its all free. Just need internet.
