Koussina by Cat Cora

I wanted to start a new thread about this upcoming restaurant Koussina (Kouzzina?) (thanks to Zapperz for the link here) to get people's take and also to see if anyone has any links/news about menu, exact date of opening, etc.

I'm shocked that Spoodles is being replaced--I thought everyone loved that place.

So many great new places to try on the next trip--Sanaa, Koussina, (and I have to go back to Artist's Palette, I've been told...)

Yes, you do!

Back to the subject, I'm really excited by Koussina. I love Greek food and can't wait to check it out. However, we love Tangierine Café in Morocco, which is a mix of Mediterranean food...so it has a tough act to follow.

As far as Spoodles goes, I've never had an interest. I guess I'm just spoiled in the Italian food I eat, but even the rave reviews that I did hear didn't interest me.

I've never been to Tangerine Cafe, do they have good baba ganoush?

Mmmm....love baba ganoush! We got an amazing platter, but it didn't have baba ganoush. It had a mix of lamb and chicken, hummus, Tabouleh, CousCous Salad and bread. We also got a side of marinated olives, which were fabulous! I don't remember seeing baba ganoush on the menu, but a CM also told us that Tangierine Cafe is a mix of Mediterranean food, while Restaurant Marrakesh is true Moroccan food.

I think it'll be great. I always like what Cat Cora makes on Iron Chef, so it will be interesting to see how her style translates into a restaurant.

Hummus is made with ground chick peas and baba ganoush is ground eggplant. Both are equally delicious!

Both delicious, yes. Equally, no way! Baba Ganoush is like 100x better, though hummus is still good.

I wouldn't say 100 times but I do prefer baba ganoush to hummus. Although I'd be happy to have either right now.
