Let's get to know each other!

I've been reading posts on this board for over a year now and have come to recognize names and even faces through trip reports and general discussion... But at work today I began to wonder... What does everyone on this board do for work? Don't feel obligated to share, it's simply just my curiosity! I will start...

My name is Karli, i'm 27 years old and have been married for 1 year (as of August 3rd!), and I have a serious Disney obsession... So much so that it is a common discussion between myself and my coworkers.. I went to Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida and earned my associates degree in the science of recording arts. I went on to work at a Recording studio in Union City, NJ for 3 years as an assistant engineer, engineer, and tech. I even worked with Disney on one occasion! They brought Nick Jonas in to do a song for a Disney channel movie. After my 3 year recording studio achievement, I moved on to work as a paralegal at a law firm in Pine Brook, NJ. That lasted 2 years before the law firm decided to close it's doors and put about 100 people out of work... Including myself and my fiance (at the time).... This was only 1 month before our wedding! So we picked up and moved to Connecticut where I began working for my mother's Estate Care business, while my husband searched and brainstormed his next move.

I still currently work for my mom's Estate Care business. We do gardening... But it's not like pulling a weed here or there... It's what I like to call extreme gardening... Pushing 8 yards of mulch in a wheelbarrow up hill, and down a mudslide while it's raining...It's pretty intense... But very healthy and rewarding at the end of the day! Right now we are working on planting 2500 fern at one of our properties. Insane. I don't know how I do it!

My husband opened his own business running a mobile hot dog cart in town on a busy street... and so far it's worked out really well for us! He loves it!

So there's a little piece of my story! If anyone else feels comfortable enough to share, please do! awesome

So glad you did this! I was thinking about this too! awesome

My real name is Lyndsey and DH is Matt. We've been married for 5 years. I am 26 and he is 36. We do not have any children yet. We had a Great Dane, Isabelle, who we got when we started dating 8 years ago. She actually died last week of cancer. It was very fast and quick. So terrible. Anyway, it is just the two of us now.

Hubby is an Army Officer and recently became Commander of the 875th Engineer Company. Smile

I am a teacher and I teach 6th grade English and History. I am currently working towards my PhD.

We live in Charlotte, NC and built our dream home last year! It was nice moving in this spring after he returned from deployment. I LOVE it!

That is pretty much us in a nutshell. We love Disney too!

Ok, Ok, I HAD to add a picture of my Isabelle to this post!!!

Sorry to hear that Sad... We just had to put one of our cats to sleep because of Cancer and it was horrible. It's the worst thing ever losing a pet. We have 2 cats (Mollie and Epcot (Epcot is our new kitten)) and a dog (JD)

Congratulations!! That's so awesome!

Thanks so much for sharing! And congrats to your hubby on his accomplishment!

I'll go next. Myself and DH (KenJ) are newbies to the forum but we both are enjoying learning more about Disney and interacting with other enthusiasts.
We're 46 and 45 respectively and will be married 21 years on September 5th. We do not have children, but we do have 2 lovable cats - Callie and Casey. We live in Guelph, Ontario Canada, which is about a 50 minute drive west of Toronto. I am a Department Manager in the Credit Department of a major bank (RBC) and KenJ is a Database Administrator for an intellectual property law firm in Toronto - they deal with patents, trademarks etc. I had been to WDW 3 times growing up, but Ken had never been until we went with his family in 2010. He had been to DL when he was young. Needless to say, he was taken by how much there was to see and do and when we went back in January 2012 for 10 nights is when we realized that we loved it in the "Disney Bubble" and ended up going again last November (great time to see the Christmas lights), again this past January and we will be there again in 25 days (not that anyone is counting)! Seriously considering resale DVC at this point and since we are staying at the Boardwalk this time, we will get to experience a deluxe resort. We've always stayed at moderates. That's pretty much it.....

Sorry to hear about your dog Eeyore - pets are family so it hurts a lot when you lose one.

My turn! My name is Erica and my husband is Erik. We will be celebrating our first wedding anniversary on October 27 muchlove He had never been to Disney before he met me. I had been 7 times and am an addict wink Our trip this November will be my 13th trip and Erik's 6th (I hooked him biggrin ) Erik is a mechanic and I am a manager at Dairy Queen. I am 28, he is 29. We have no kids yet but plan to start a family in the next couple of years. We have no pets, but we do have a special little penguin named Mr Penguin (we just call him Mister. My profile pic is of him). We are a little crazy and take him everywhere. As you can see in the pic he even has his own pair of Mickey ears mickey We live in North Bay Ontario. Once we get our mortgage paid off we hope to start serioulsy considering DVC resale. We also might look into renting points for our next trip to see what it's like. We usually stay at Value resorts so it'd be cool to stay in a deluxe!

Hi all. My name is James and the red head in my profile is my partner Brett. We have been a couple for 19 years and share a strong love for All things Disney. We have no children but are the primary care givers to his parents that are in their 80's. they keep us rather busy but it's a labor of love and we are both great full to have the ability to help them enjoy there twilight years. The center of our life is our 5 year old min schnauzer named Boomer. You guessed it we are proud Okies but are a house divided. He's all about OU and I love OSU. We are proud uncles as well. We both work in the service field. He works for the Home Depot and I provide system support for the AAA insurance group. Our disney time is how we relax and find the planning and dreaming to be almost as fun as being there. Neither of us are into the drops and dips type of rides so if we say do it, you'll no it's pretty safe.

My turn!
I'm Jamie, DH is Joe. It's my second marriage (his first) and we've been going strong for 8 years, this October. I grew up in upstate NY and graduated with a degree in Economics from SUNY Geneseo. I moved to NC in 1991 and love it here. When I got here, I felt immediately at home and started working on my family. A few years later, my brother & his family moved down and eventually we got my mom & dad too. My dad passed away a few years ago, but the rest of us all live within 20 minutes of each other. I'm very happy about that. I was blessed to grow up in an awesome family and it's great to all be close.
Joe is a disabled veteran (Army) and I work in the finance department for a building supply company. I've been here 8 years. I'm assigned to the Accounts Payable department, but my main job is Corporate finance trainer. I am responsible for creating documentation and training new associates to the finance group. I also get to do lots of conference calls with our store locations to help them learn our system, etc. I absolutely love this job. I was torn between being a teacher and going after something in the business field. I settled on business, but this job lets me have the best of both worlds and it's awesome. A few years ago we outsourced part of our functions and as part of that, I've been able to travel to India a few times to help staff and train our outsourced company. What an awesome opportunity!
We have one son who will be a (second year) Senior this year and *should* graduate with his degree in computer science next May. I'm very excited for college bills to be over! It's so different for kids graduating now. I am already crossing my fingers that he'll have no trouble finding a job.

Love DISNEY! I've been to WDW several times, although this will be my first trip back in about 10 years. Joe grew up on the West Coast and had been to DL many times. We had to opportunity to go to DL last year when visiting family in California and that was great. We realized how much we loved it and had forgotten the magic. How sad! Joe started talking about wanting to go to WDW when we returned home and for his birthday in February, I surprised him with a whole package trip. He actually cried. Of course, I needed some time to pay it off, so I settled on October. We'll celebrate our anniversary while we're there and he had some matching T-shirts made for us to wear (Mickey/Minnie on the front...."The Olivers...8 magical years" on the back). It's been hard to wait so long, but I do have to say that the time has gone fast. In 52 days, we'll be there for 8 days! In addition, we've been talking about DVC. No firm plans yet, but we are definitely going to do the tour while we're there and see if it's doable. I was planning to stop working in a few years, and I might not be able to do that if we buy DVC - but that seems like a fair tradeoff to me.

I haven't been here that long, but I absolutely adore this site. Everyone is so nice here and I've learned a lot too. Plus, you all talk about food all the time and I Love that. In fact, DH and I tweeted back and forth at each other yesterday with all the food we're planning to eat. So - thanks for the warm welcome!!

Hi Everyone,

My name is Dee, I'll be 45 next month and I am a Police Officer in a suburb of Cleveland, OH. I just recently achieved my 10th year with my current department and I love most minutes of the job biggrin I was born in raised in Southern CA and consider myself a Cali girl even though I have lived in OH for nearly 18 years. I am married to a wonderful woman named Christy. Our 7 year anniversary of marriage is this Sunday 8/11, although we've been together as a happy couple for 14 years muchlove she teaches 3rd grade. We have a large pup named Koda and are currently shopping for a house.
I enjoy traveling and have been to 4 out of 5 Disney parks worldwide. We're going to Hong Kong (and back to Japan) in October and until Shanghai opens I will have completed that bucket list item. We've traveled all over the US, parts of Canada and Mexico, several caribbean islands, we've been to Tokyo, Japan(twice), and a few countries in Europe (France, England, Ireland, Belgium, and the Netherlands).
My DW first visited WDW in 2000, it was my third trip to WDW, I grew up in DLand from an infant well into my late 20's, it was my favorite place to go...now that I live closer to WDW, it's become my favorite. We go about once a year although lately it's been more DCL than parks. We've taken 5 DCL cruises in 2 years with 3 more scheduled for 2014. I've always said I work to pay for my next Disney Adventure and it really is true awesome
My DW and I have been very blessed with the love and support we receive from our families. Not only did our families show up for our wedding, many of them were in the wedding and our dads walked us down the aisle. biggrin We all did a Grand Gathering in 2008 at WDW as well. I am approaching my 18 month of being cancer free yay in 2011 I was diagnosed with stage III uterine cancer. I am lucky enough to have a great group of people both blood relatives and friends who helped me through a challenging time. Most of my family is in CA. However my in-laws here in Ohio were/are AWESOME during my chemo and radiation as was my police family.
I'm a fairly happy individual and love meeting new people. I've met a few people from this group and have enjoyed every minute of it. I'm looking forward to future meets and to enjoying my Disney addiction.
Thanks for reading mickey

Yay! Great idea!

My name is Allison and my husband is Jon. I'm 25 years old and he is 32 and we'll be celebrating our 2 year wedding anniversary on Sept 3rd. I'm an accountant at a local construction and property management company and Jon is a site manager for the Boys and Girls Club. We are both big theater junkies and met during a community theater production of West Side Story playing boyfriend and girlfriend (insert "awwwww"s here). He's been acting/singing and directing since high school and I've been acting/singing/dancing since I was a toddler. We made our first Disney trip together (his second trip ever and my....8th?) this past October as a late anniversary trip/last big trip before we started trying for a baby. And what do you know, we're expecting a baby girl in 18 days...though I'd be fine if she decided to make her appearance early! We also have a 6 year old yorkie shitzu named Isabella that we've had since she was 4 months old. She's a little princess and we're kind of worried about how she'll take to the new addition to the family. eek

Hello Everyone! My name is Angie (42yr) and my DW is Amy (44yr) or AJ as some of her friends call her. I have known since I was 5 yrs old I wanted to be a police officer, I even wrote that I wanted to grow up to be a "police girl" in my Dr. Seuss Book! I've been with the Police Department for twenty years and work just five miles from the town I grew up in. DW works as a medical biller and we've been together for ten years, married for almost eight years (although Michigan doesn't recognize our marriage).

We have no children but we do have two dogs, Bella a German Shepherd and Molly a crazy Tree Walker Coon Hound mix. We also have six cats. Yes, six. We joke that we have two cats for each floor in our house when in reality four choose not to leave our master bedroom areas and two prefer the living room/kitchen area. All our animals are rescues either from rescue organizations, friends or through my job. I teach part time at the Police Academy, volunteer as a docent with our local History Center for the Chapin Mansion and occasionally do house visits for Guardian German Shepherd Rescue which is where we adopted our dear Bella from. We both love to antique and I dabble in Ebay, mostly to earn extra money for Disney vacations!

Neither one of us went to Disney as children and we were both adults when we first went. Our first trip together to Disney was last Fall for Halloween. We are not excited about hot weather so Fall is our favorite time of year. That trip was different and we viewed it in so many different ways, as a couple, as adults, appreciating the history of Disney and all the hidden magic that we never noticed before. I'm completely hooked and DW loves it but isn't as obsessive as I am. She is afraid we will never vacation anywhere but Disney ever again ( I still don't see how that is a bad thing ) . So I just have to plan two vacations each year, one at Disney and one someplace else for DW biggrin

Hi! I'm Laura. I'm 41, single, no kids & have two cats (15yo Callie & 13yo Alfy). I've spent the majority of the last 19 years working in the home stereo/home theater industry in the manufacturing & repair parts of the industry. While I've met a lot of great people doing that I'm seriously burned out & tired of the work & am trying to decide what I want to do next. I'm considering starting an Etsy shop but haven't decided yet. Home is a 3 bedroom 2 bath condo north of Seattle & I'm one of those rare people that's a Seattle native born & raised in the Seattle area & still living here almost 42 years after being born here. I've done a lot of traveling over the years both as a child & as an adult. I like to tell people that my mom & stepdad had the travel bug & infected me with it early & well. I've been to Europe &/or Great Britain & Ireland five times, Disneyland too many times to count, Disney World six times, Washington DC & other places on the east coast three times, Yellowstone National Park, Hawaii, Oregon, Vancouver BC Canada & some places that I'm sure I'm forgetting. Even though it probably goes without saying I'll go ahead and admit that I'm a Disney addict. In fact you can find me on the Passporter forums & the easyWDW forums too.

I'll go next! I am Michelle, and my husband is Trevor. I am currently working on my undergrad degree in psychology from the University of Maryland University College. From there, I will pursue my Masters in Social Work from the University of Southern California - Fight ON! My husband is an Electrical Engineer in the U.S. Air Force, and is about halfway through his Masters program in Electrical Engineering also from USC, Fight On! =)

We don't have children, I have children from a previous marriage who are all adults, so they say lol. awesome We have 2 dogs, a shepherd/lab/unknown mix named Bishop, a cockapoo named Eva, and a very talkative cat named Dodgers. We are stationed here in the desert of California, and like so many here, I am a California native although I've lived in Ontario, Canada and Wyoming. We are avid Dodger fans, and I am a LA Kings fan, my husband tolerates my hockey obsession.

We are DVC owners and will be taking our first DVC trip in a matter of weeks to our home resort at Aulani. yay clapping yay

I LOVE these posts! It's so fun knowing things about everyone.

I'm Tara, I'm 39. I'm married to Jesse (he's 34) and we have three awesome daughters - Megan is almost 16 (from my first marriage), Ryan is 9 and Ainsley is almost 3. I'm a high school English teacher and have been teaching for 18 years. DH is a high school science teacher (earth science, mostly). We've been married for almost 7 years, together for just over 10.

Right now, I'm preparing for an interview for a new job at my school as a dean of students...scary, but fun! I love to read and nothing is more relaxing to me than sitting in a comfy chair with a glass of wine and a book. I run, as well, although the last few months I've been dealing with a nagging injury, so I haven't been at it as much. I plan on THREE Disney races in the next 6 months, though. mickey

I've always loved Disney. I lived in Florida when I was little (Dad in the Navy), but we only went like twice. As a young adult, I made many many a trip to Disneyland, but have taken 4 trips to WDW on school trips, which has been amazing. Now we're on to more family trips, although our next one will be an anniversary trip! DH just lets me do my thing and he loves WDW as well, mostly for rides and food, so that works out.

We lead a pretty quiet life for the most part - by quiet, I mean boring. Right now, DH is watching golf that he dvr'd today and the kids are outside playing. We like our little suburban existence, but try to take trips when we can. DH loves to build things and work on projects (he finished our basement and is currently building pergolas for all our friends, it seems!), which helps finance all my trip planning. The girls keep us hopping with all their activities, as well. That's about it!

(These are great posts!!)

Hello there! My name is Rebekah, I'm 37 and married my sweetheart Carlos (36) a little over 2 months ago. ( My second, his first. Maybe you read about it, I dunno.... biggrin) Before we did the deed in June, we were together for nearly 8 years so being newlyweds is pretty funny somehow. We have a teen-age son named Ian who is 15. Carlos is a native Chicagoan but I was raised in Northern California (Sacramento) and I'm still a Californian at heart. I am a registered nurse working primarily in ambulatory surgery so I do a little bit of everything - pre-op, OR and the recovery room. Carlos is a computer engineer, currently working as a contractor for a medical supply company called Hollister. Ian is going to be a sophomore in high school and currently enjoying his last gasp of summer vacation.

My parents were both raised in central Florida so we would do the occasional day trip to Disney World when we would visit our grandparents in the summers. It was fun but it was never for more than a day and then back to Grandma's house. I started "doing" Disney as an adult during my previous marriage and that was when the hook was really set! One of our first "family" dates when Carlos and I first started dating was taking Ian to see Cars. We laughed so hard I thought we were going to get thrown out of the theater and that was when I realized that Carlos was also a Disney fan. We took our first trip to Disney in 2007 and we've been back as often as we can make it ever since. We did our first ever cruise on the Dream in June and can't wait to get back on the boat. Looking forward to seeing the Magic all gussied up in February!

It is so interesting, reading all your profiles. There are so many of us that are teachers!

I was born in Liverpool, UK. I spent my childhood training as a dancer and went to college to study Performing Arts. Then I wrote to Disney asking if I could audition to be a dancer on the castle forecourt. They wrote back and said that only Americans could apply for performance roles, but sent me the information to apply for the international college program. I was a successful applicant and worked at the Rose and Crown in Epcot for a year. Then I moved to Manhattan for two months before heading to Plymouth, UK to study Personnel Management at University. I then did a Masters degree in Personnel at Manchester University. I worked in Recruitment and HR for a few companies for about four years before quitting and going back to my first love. I set up my own dance and drama school in 1999. I run workshop classes in the evening and work in schools during the day. I have done a lot of work with special-needs kids and in prisons etc. as I am also an advocate for young people's rights.
I met my husband when we were 13 at school. We dated briefly when we were 17 before I moved to Florida. Fifteen years passed and then we met up again through a mutual friend. We have been together for 7 years and married for two years (Disney Wedding of course!!!). No kids, one nephew, one niece and two fur babies! Then I had my breast cancer diagnosis last year (age 39). I have had surgery, chemotherapy and Radiotherapy. I rang Disney today to book the Magical Express for our November trip. The CM said "are you celebrating anything special?" I said "Being alive" I bet they don't have a badge for that one! laugh

I'm Sally-Ann (I am useless at thinking up cool names so just stick with my own)! I'm 49 hitting 50 this year in WDW. My DH is Graham who is 43 going on 6 most of the time and king of the one liners! He is the love of my life, the missing part of the puzzle to life and my best friend. We have been together for 4 years and married for nearly 2 now. This is his 3rd marriage and my 2nd. We live in Essex in the UK and I am a medical secretary in central London and G is a business analyst currently working for one of our major department stores on a top secret project! I originally went to WDW in 2003 with my ex but didn't really get Disney back then. I think it was the person I was with more than the place. G and I went last May and just fell in love with it and became DVC members which was totally not planned. We have no children (I have never wanted children) but G has a daughter from a previous relationship who visits alternate weekends. We have 2 cats and 5 fish. We have been to Disney Hong Kong on honeymoon which was an experience and recently to DLP. My favourite ride at DLP is ToT it is better than WDW and Crush coaster. At hong Kong I loved RC racer, Florida is harder to pick, Expedition Everest, Rock'n'Roller coaster, the fireworks all good.

I suppose outside of Disney hobbies are making cards, jewellery, cooking, archery and of course planning our next trip. I am really proud that last year I was part of the Olympic opening ceremony (as one of the dancing nurses although I would have loved to have been the flying Mary Poppins) and the opening ceremony of the Paralympics (as a protestor) and was on stage with Stephen Hawking and Sir Ian Mackellan!

I love this site as there is no bitchiness or unpleasantness ( well not that I have spotted) and you all do feel like extended family now and We are hoping to bump into some of you on our visits. My only regret is that I don't live in the US as it would be so much easier to meet you all!

Hi my name is Barbara and I am 55 . I have been in love with Disney since I watched Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday nights. I have always wanted to go to Disneyland but then WDW was born. I first traveled to WDW in 1973 with my parents and younger sister and I fell in love all over again. A little bit about myself. I am a secretary at our local hospital and I am a lifer since I have worked there for the last 33 years. I love music and am the choir director at my church. I love musical theater and try to see as many shows as I can. I have already met one great fellow WDWFGU - JoAnn. I look forward to meeting more of my great friends here on this wonderful site. I will be returning to the World in 48 days but who's counting!

Hello all and glad you are all here! You all know me as MrHub, but my real name is Mark. I am 52 years young and married to Judy, otherwise know to you all as Scrappy. She's scrappy alright, but she is also the light and love of my life and my best friend. We met when I was 17 & she was 18. A year later we married, 3 months after I graduated and we have been living happily ever after for 33 years now, 34 in Sept.

I'm from this area in SE PA, Montgomery County Area, all my life. Scrappy's family are hillbillies from the hollers of West Virginia. (she'll smack me for that, I love teasing about that!)

We went from farm country to suburbs and never moved more then a quarter mile and we are still living on land that was originally owned by my grandfather. Our carriage house sits square on top of where I proposed to Scrappy 1978 in my 68 Mustang. We put up a modular home on my dads farm in 1982, then in 2000 my dad and his wife decided to sell the farm. Scrappy had the roughest time with this, she really loved it, but after it was all said and done, we got a brand new house out of the deal, still sitting on the same property, its just got 102 other houses with it.

Had our first son 2 years after we were married and our second 2 years after that. We now also have 2 wonderful DIL's and 4 grandchildren (3 girls & 1 boy). Oh, yeah and all of you extended family members here on the forum!

I ran heavy equipment for 24 years (worked for my father who sold the business and retired) before I became a Police Dispatcher 11 years ago and I have been doing that ever since. Love doing what I do. I was a volunteer Fire fighter for 10 years ( my specialty was vehicle rescue) , but the politics got in the way when I started working for the Police, so I had to quit.

I infected Scrappy with the "Disney Virus", I took her in 1984, she thought it was going to be one of those "did that, never doing it again" things, boy was she wrong. We are both utterly and totally Disney Addicts. We joined this wonderful forum in early 2009 and have never really been active anywhere else. The people here have always been wonderful. Many have disappeared but many other wonderful new faces & friends have joined. (although I do really really really miss Brad, Admin, cdub, bali, soup, Solofriendly, Spaceace & Annie........ and the list can go on.)

WDW world is the only place we go on vacation, it's our happy place, our magical place, and thats all that needs to be said!.

I'm JoAnn. I'm 44 and currently live in CT. I was born in SW Pennsylvania in the town where Barb (pirategirl) lives in. That hospital closed and replaced by the hospital where Barb works. Ok, everyone start singing... "it's a small world after all". mickey

I moved to CT in 1995 when I accepted a position in the corporate office for Ames Department Stores. I was with Ames for 12 years when they went out of business.

I now work for a company that prints and mails things (bills, statements, etc) for other companies. If you have Direct TV, your bill is printed where I work. I manage two clients. I've been with my current company for 10 years.

I visited WDW twice in my younger years but fell in love when I visited for the first time as an adult in 2010 (after a close to 30 year absence).

Hello!! My name is Heather. I'm 35, single, with three cats. I live outside Washington, DC, in Northern Virginia (which people refer to it almost as if it's a state unto itself). I've lived here since middle school, went to high school in the area and college down at James Madison University (home of the Dukes - hence the screen name) for political science and later finished a Master's at Argosy University in Forensic Psychology. BTW, I use neither of those degrees on a daily basis, I'm in management and the experience that most prepared me for that role was being a camp counselor every summer in college (kidding, but those of you in management know what I'm talking about!). I run (duh, as you see by my tickers!), albeit very slowly. I've finished 3 full marathons, 7 or 8 half marathons (with 4 more upcoming), 3 Warrior Dashes and the Tough Mudder. I played ice hockey until last April when I tore my ACL, but hope to get back out on the ice one of these days. I'm a huge Capitals fan, season ticket holder, and the only thing I'd love more than spending a night in Cinderella's Castle is to take a picture with THE Stanley Cup.

I have no idea where my love of Disney developed. My parents took myself and one of my sisters when we were little-bitty (as in, can't-remember-it little-bitty) and once the year I graduated high school for an all out blast. As an adult, I've been to WDW several times (solo and with friends and family), DL (just DL, no CA) twice, and DLP once. I think part of the reason Disney means so much to me is because of an instructor I had my senior year of HS. He sat us down and told us the story of Peter Pan. After he finished the story, he got to the point, which was, Peter Pan never forgot how to fly. Many "grown ups" get so involved in work and bills and the trials and tribulations of life they have forgotten how to fly and just don't get the same joy out of life that little kids do. And he told us to Never forget how to fly, no matter how bad life gets. I think that sums up why I love Disney. Because at 5 or 35 or 95 you can walk down Main Street wearing mouse ears eating a Mickey ice cream bar and see that castle, and man, you suddenly remember what it means to FLY just like Peter Pan!!

I think a lot of you already know our story but I will repeat it anyway. I also know that Mark aka Mrhub is writing a post for this thread. You will get the he said she said from us.

My name is Judy. Both Mark and I are 52. I am sure he will make it known that I am older though. We have been married 33 years. He is still the love of my life and my best friend. We raised two boys. They are both now married and have children. We are Nanny and Poppy to 3 beautiful princesses and and one handsome little prince.

Mark works for our local police department as a dispatcher. I work for a local gas company. We work right across the street from each other about 2.5 miles from our home. We have lived on the same property for 30 years although not in the same house. ( that is a long story).

Mark took me to Disney for my first trip in 1984. I loved it. We took our boys every few years as they were growing up. Then, the day came when they were both in college and it was time for us to go on a vacation. Honestly, I was thinking what would we do in Disney without the boys. Well, did I find out!!!

We started staying on property which was a whole new world. We first stayed at the Beach Club, followed by the All Stars, did several stays at the Caribbean then decided to give the Polynesian a try. We both instantly fell in love with it and still prefer to stay there. In 2008 we decided to take the plunge and bought DVC. That we use mostly to treat our friends and family to trips.

We learned to take the time to stop and smell the roses. We still discover little details that we have never noticed before. We have also learned that it is okay to do nothing at all. Sitting along Main Street and watching the world go by is such a fun thing to do.

One of the biggest changes in our trips is we now do a lot more dining instead of eating lol. I am a picky eater but I am slowly branching out a bit. Victoria and Alberts was a big stretch for me. I will admit that I am sure Mark enjoyed it far more than I did but I did enjoy it. Mark is the foodie. He loves almost all food. I still have a long way to go.

More than anything else though is we love just being together in Disney. The Magic is all around us and for one week we are free to be that young carefree couple we were when we were first married. We also avoid the real world as much as possible while on vacation. No TV, radio and very very limited phone calls home. We know the real world is out there but most things can keep for a week.

So there you have our little story and I'm sticking to it!

Fun thread! My turn yay

My name is Jeff! Really! I'm turning 50 in a little over a month - boy did that sneak up on me!

My hubby is Joe, and while we've been together for almost 15 years now, we just got married in June in San Francisco. He's the absolutely love of my life.

We met in Minneapolis - an honest to goodness love at first sight story. It really does happen!

I'm a project manager for a large financial services company. I've been with them for 25 years now, though I have had about 3,568 different jobs. My claim to fame at work is having relocated with the company 11 times. Some say I have adult ADD. Most of the moves have been my choice and they have taken us all over the county. We've lived in Maryland, Connecticut, New Jersey, Minnesota, Phoenix, North Carolina and California. We hit Maryland and Minnesota 3 different times each. I guess one of the benefits of working for a big company is there are plenty of opportunities to move around if you like! And I'm really fortunate to be able to work from home full time.

Joe's a recipe tester and developer, and a food blogger. Which makes me doubly lucky! He can cook and bake like nobody's business. Christmas is the most amazing time of year, as he goes all out to make care packages for friends and family. It's quite the production event.

We just moved to Minnesota (for the third time!) 2 weeks ago, so we could be closer to family and help out with the family farm.

We live on a small 7 1/2 acre hobby farm and are looking to raise some chickens and cows. How's that for a big change from living in San Francisco? Haha. Joe was raised on a farm, but I'm a city slicker, having been raised in western Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh. I have a lot to learn, and am looking forward to it all. We've always talked about and dreamed of having a small farm and getting closer to self-sustainability.

My Disney obsession/addiction is well documented as being all Joe's fault. Completely. I went as a kid and never thought twice about it after that. Then in 2001 Joe surprised me with a trip to Disney. At the time I thought it might be fun once, if I can just survive all the damn kids. eek silly

It took all of .0247 seconds on site to catch the bug, and we've been going back just about every other year since.

It's the destination of choice for my 50th. I can't imagine being any where else to celebrate. We did look at a number of other options - Joe even offered to take me to Scotland with allears Deb and the Destinations by Disney tour. Or Hawaii. Or anywhere I wanted to go. But in the end, my heart chose WDW.

We have 2 dogs - both longhaired dachshunds - named Gus and Dora. And apparently in a few days will have 6 chickens thanks to Joe's Mom! This should be interesting.....

I'm Diana, and I have loved Disney since I was a kid. I grew up in Northwestern Ontario, about 4 hours north of Duluth, MN. My Dad started his own business when my sister and I were young, and didn't get to see us much for a few years. He decided that despite not having a ton of money, he would somehow take us to Disneyland, and see all the sights on the drive down and back. I was 8, my sister was 12, and it was 1960. It was the start of a long love affair with Disney. Over the years, we returned 5 more times, and loved it every time. We were the envy of all our friends - this was a very big deal then!

Fast forward a few years, and I had a family of my own. My husband Peter was born in Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic), and escaped with his family to Canada in 1967. It was a harrowing trip, with him travelling alone and waiting in Vienna to see if everyone else made it. It was two weeks before he saw his family, and knew they were going to succeed in starting a new life. No one except his Dad spoke English, but all of them learned quickly, and all the kids went on to university degrees. Peter is a pharmacist, and I was a pharmacy technician early in my working life. We worked briefly together, he liked me, I didn't like him, and was glad when he was transferred. We met up a couple of years later, I still wasn't sure about him, but he kept showing up, and finally we started dating. I tease him that he just wore me down. We've been married for 34 years now, and have a son who is 31. Over the years, in addition to being a certified pharmacy tech, I was the Information Officer for the Canadian Medical Association, an executive assistant to the principal of a private girl's school, and also worked for a home care agency. I am "retired" now, and Peter unexpectedly retired in January. He drove both of us crazy, so he has gone back to work doing short term contract relief.

Peter had never been anywhere like Disneyland or WDW, so when I suggested (OK, insisted!) that we take our son when he was 12, he reluctantly gave in. When we walked down Main Street and saw the castle, both their mouths dropped, and I knew I had made some new converts. After that first trip, we went 4 more times as a family, staying in All Star Music twice, and Dixie Landings 3 times, before it became Port Orleans Riverside. POR is still our favourite resort. Life got in the way, and it was 14 years before we got back to WDW in 2012. Since that trip, we have been twice more, and love it every time. It is great to do it as grownups - we go where we want, when we want, and our favourites change each time we go. I don't have a ticker up right now, and that totally bums me out. We have a trip to California booked for mid-September, and I'm really looking forward to that. I get to introduce Peter to San Francisco, Yosemite, the coast highway down to L.A., etc. I think he's going to love it! I'm hoping to see the Osborne Lights in 2014, and there will be dancing bananas when I get to add that ticker! laugh
