Lightning show at the castle

Even Disney can't touch Mother Nature when it comes to this kind of show...

It was doing that when we were down there. That is pretty wicked!

I saw some guy on FB had his picture snapped at the perfect time right in front of the castle with a big bolt of lightning right behind him. That's a keeper.

This is my 9 year old's worst nightmare come true. She is already not exactly keen on the fireworks and gets herself all worked up. If there is something she hates worse than the fireworks, it is thunderstorms. I can only imagine the screaming that this scene would have elicited. eek

I've been seeing a ton of the pics on Facebook. They are all amazing and beautiful!

I would of ran inside somewhere because I am deathly afraid of lightning. I do believe this was the same storm that also caused a fire at a apartment complex right behind MK and causing cast members to lose everything and be relocated somewhere else until they figure out what to do.

Yes it is awesome and beautiful but people forget the dangers that come along with lightning.

I've been visiting WDW since the mid 70's and I have never witness such a lightning storm. The photos look amazing but extremely dangerous.

I think its nature's way of reminding everyone that Disney World isn't really a bubble after all. wink

The lightning storms here are beautiful but they are definitely dangerous. For the last 3 weeks my husband and I have watched these same lightning storms almost every night from our lanai. The Lightning is sometimes so close to our home it's really scary. We hear fire truck sirens all night long during these lightning storms and several houses, trees and lots of land are set on fire every night.

It is amazing though to be driving during a lightning storm and it looks like you are driving right into the lightning. It is really cool. Scary but cool.

Are you inland, Annie? We live 10 minutes from the beach and can usually enjoy them from a safe distance. They can be absolutely mesmerizing.

Oh Mandy that is awful. I hope they are all ok and on the road to figuring out what to do!

We are inland. We live about 30 miles from our closest beach. We also have overgrown empty lots on both sides of our house and behind us is just trees and brush. Our house is basically right in the middle of kindling laugh

It also doesn't help that my best friend is a 911 dispatcher in our county and she tells us each time she's on duty and there was a fire from a lightning strike right around our house.

But I also have a "flair for the dramatic" and terrible depth perception, so I doubt the lightning is always as close to our house as I think it is wink
