A little advice please =) - Decision Made

As many of you know, my DH and I had to postpone our Disney Cruise that was scheduled for the week of April 22nd. The travel insurance company finally got back to us and rejected our claim, so DCL is issuing us a credit to use for a future cruise. We've decide to go in late October. Since its a 4-day cruise ending on a Thursday. We're thinking of heading over to WDW for one night before we catch the auto train home on Friday. So our goal is to hit Epcot for the Food & Wine Festival on Thursday. I'd like to stay somewhere within walking distance of Epcot. Since we're only going to be there for one day, I like the convenience of not having to hop on a bus. So here's where I need some advice. I'm not familiar with the Epcot area resorts. I know you can walk to Epcot from the Boardwalk, but can you also get there on foot from any other resorts like the Beach Club or the Yacht Club? If so, does anyone have any recommendations for a place they've really enjoyed staying?

Yes, you can walk to Epcot from the Beach Club, Yacht Club, and also from the Swan and Dolphin. I've only stayed one night at any of them, and that was the Swan, which is a nice hotel but not a real Disney resort.

We've stayed at both Yacht & Beach Club. LOVE THEM!!! It was a 5 min walk to get to Epcot. My fave was Beach Club. I just liked the decor better than Yacht Club (nautical theme), a more "formal" atmosphere than Beach which we felt was more "relaxed". You can't go wrong with either one. I prefered the more seaside/seashore atmosphere of Beach Club. Both have great CM's and the rooms are lovely and big. We actually just stayed at Beach Club this March for 4 nights. Had probably the best Disney trip ever! The pool is beyond amazing. Cape May's Clambake is out of this world! We spent one day just hanging out at the pool. I love the "Victorian Seaside" motif of late 1800's. Will definatley try to stay here again. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Yes! You can walk to all of the above mentioned hotels. I haven't stayed at any of those resorts yet, but I love hanging out at the Yacht Club, and my husband loves the Beach Club's more laid back feeling. I think that the Beach Club is probably the closest to Epcot. It's a really lovely area to be in.

Swan and Dolphin will likely be cheaper than Yacht/Beach/Boardwalk, and only a 5 minute further walk away. Have stayed there a few times when we couldn't get a last minute studio at BWV. They also have the best restaurants, IMHO. Great beds too!

We have stayed at the Beach Club Villas & the Boardwalk , so we can recommend the Boardwalk. We are staying there again in July. If your only staying for one night though, you can't go wrong with any of them really.

Hi Kris! We've stayed at the Beach Club before (and will again in a few months) and it is super convenient to Epcot. Probably the closest of the resorts to the International Gateway. That would be my recommendation given your plans.

Thanks everyone. Now I just have to justify the added cost in my head. I'm usually a POFQ girl, but since we're only going to be there one night, location (i.e. walking distance) might just win out.

I think I need a little extra incentive...are you and Scrappy going to pop over to Epcot to visit with us on 10/24?

Lucky girl!! Staying at either Boardwalk or Beach Club is my dream!! What about seeing if you can rent a night of DVC points?? That might make the cost a bit cheaper.

Traveling to Disney can't be part of it?

I so wish it was. One of my meetings in LA, and you'd think they'd give us time to hit Disneyland, but nope. I really want to hit WDW with you guys one of these times!

OK all of you enablers out there...I bit the bullet and booked one night at the Beach Club so we can walk to Epcot for the F&W Fest after our cruise on the Disney Dream. Its killing me that we'll only be there one day, but one day is better than no days. Plus, I think there may be an early December trip in my future. I told my parents seeing WDW decorated for Christmas is on my bucket list and they said, then lets go for a long weekend! So me, Mom & Dad will be heading down from a Thursday - Sunday in early December! I can't wait! yay
