Thanks for that....
Yeah when you do the online check-in you can put in what you want for your PIN. I just did my online check-in.

Just an input from a UK visitor we were testing the bands last year on our trip and true to what everyone else says when you check in you do have the option to choose a pin number however if my memory serves me right for some reason online check in wouldn't accept my credit card therefore wouldn't let me choose a pin number as this is the whole point of having the pin number so you can charge things back to your room, however I wouldn't worry if it doesn't let you because it literally takes 30 seconds at the desk to sort out
maybe this was just an issue in testing phases but I just thought this might be a British visitor thing as it still doesn't recognise my mobile number no matter which way I put it in!!!

I found the same with the UK phone number, MDE will not accept ours and I have tried putting it in every which way I can think of

Our last trip (2012) I forgot to input my Visa card details so on the first night at Fultons shop at PORS my Key of the World card wouldn't work.. ...A quick visit to the concierge and all was put right..
I feel your pain I would be devastated if mine wouldn't work!however the concierge are all very helpful so it makes life a little easier!
Can some please explain the online check in to me?
Well from here in UK..I go onto My Disney Experience and you can do it on that...We done it online in 2012 before My Disney Experience ...
But like what is it?
It allows you to go in ahead of time (60 days, I believe) and put in your preferences (i.e. floor level, view, etc) and also link up a CC for incidentals. When you arrive, you go to the online check in line, which should be shorter than the regular check in line, and since everything has been done in advance, it's a few minutes of information for you to listen to, and then you get your welcome folder and Key to the World. You access it on mydisneyexperience.com and it's very painless (look for the "bell" icon on the right hand side). You put in your anticipated arrival time and I'm 3 for 3 for my room being ready when I check in (hope I didn't jinx it for February!!). Also, by checking in early for AKL, I was able to request a savannah view (I booked a standard view) and when we arrived, we learned that we'd gotten the savannah view!!
Overall, I haven't found any downside. I'm not sure it's a vacation make or break moment, but I would HIGHLY encourage you to check in online in advance.
And I hope this is what you were asking about, or I'm a big dork.
