To make the most of our trip without going overboard

We're headed to Disney soon and I'm so super excited! clapping

But since I'll be there for conference, we'll (my husband and I) will only have Friday Night for parks, Saturday afternoon for a few hours and then 1 full day (Sunday) for the parks.

Friday we get our park passes and check in at 3:00pm, I have a welcome reception to attend that night (Last year it was at the Grand Floridian, which is also where we are staying this year) and then I'm thinking that maybe we can head over to MK for the fireworks.

The Saturday I'll be in classes all day until about 5. (Last year they were in Epcot) - So I've got to come up with some ideas for what my husband can do or have the option to do while I'm in classes. (He's never been to Disney so It's all brand new to him)

And then Sunday- We have the whole day to do whatever. I'm thinking of doing the Safari in the Animal Kingdom that morning but not sure of what else we should do Smile

Any tips, Ideas or whatever welcome.

Also we'll be staying at All Star Movies for Thursday Night (12 hour drive on thursday)
Friday Night and Saturday Night - Grand Floridian - Conference hotel nights
Sunday Night - Pop Resort

haha, I know, I know It's crazy. lol But the Grand Floridian nights were taken care of with the conference tickets and Thursday and Sunday nights were "find your own rooms nights" lol

For your husband's plan during your classes I would suggest Epcot, particularly World Showcase. I could easily spend a whole day in that area, plus it's a giant circle so maybe won't get as overwhelming for a first time visitor on their own (I could see myself getting overwhelmed if I was thrown into MK by myself with no prior WDW experience) and he can spend the day browsing, eating, and drinking around the world if he's into that. That way he'll be in the same park as you when you get done with your classes, too.

That said, I definitely think you need to make sure to leave some time for MK. It's not a Disney trip without at least a little time in MK, IMO!

ooo yes at some point we will have to go to MK. You're totally right, a trip to Disney isn't really a trip to Disney if you don't go to MK at least once

Also I think you're right about the World Showcase. He's also interested in the Test Track and Space ride thing (not space Mountain but the other one that make you feel like you're in space) so I think those are in Epcot too.

You're right, Test Track and Mission: Space are both in Epcot, in Future World. While in Future World, he should check out Soarin! too--it often has long waits but is one of my favorite rides, very cool and very relaxing! So I definitely think having him in Epcot while you're in your conference is a great bet!

By the way, you're so lucky to have a conference actually IN Disney World--I feel it would make it a lot more bearable! What field are you in (in other words, what will you be learning in your classes?)

For your last day, if you did want to go to Animal Kingdom in the morning, you could definitely do that and then go to Magic Kingdom for the afternoon and evening, as long as you were OK with missing out on Hollywood Studios (which a lot of people don't really like anyway, though it is my favorite park).

Sounds like you'll have an awesome time! yay

I agree with having your husband go to Epcot, it's an easy park for solo touring because you can get so involved in learning and shopping, plus the Chefs took over Flower and Garden show, so he can eat fun stuff too!

LoL... I would be so bummed heading to Pop after the Grand Floridian.
