OK, so I was looking at some pics of my hotel room views recently and am just shocked at how FLAT everything is out there!!! You guys know I love hiking, but there's just no way to do that in Orlando Wink All you planners out there -- what's that kind of landscape good for?

Bali, You're so right about the "flatness" of Orlando. It was one of the hardest things to get used to when we lived there. When we moved to NC...and not even in the mountains...it took a little time to get used to the rolling hills again...some of the roads felt a little like a roller coaster!

That said, if you're in Orlando and really looking for a bit of change, drive up toward Clermont and Mt. Dora, there are actually REAL hills up there!! Mt. Dora is a really nice little town...great flea markets up that way too!

I've heard so many great things about Mt. Dora; I really need to check that out!

Does anyone have pics?

Here is a nice website from Mt. Dora

If you want hills you don't have to go as high as Mt. Dora, just north of Downtown Orlando are some hills in Altamonte Springs and Wekiva. Also south of Orlando in Lake Wales there are also some hills. Check out Spook Hill.

Being so flat mean you can see a really long way as soon as you get up in the air. I've not done the DTD balloon yet, but the view from the top of summit plummit extends well beyond the Magic Kingdom. From the top of the Seaworld Tower, you can see all the way across Disney in one direction and to downtown Orlando in the other direction. Aparently there is a tower at Clermont that's even better.

I wonder how high you would have to go to see the ocean on both sides?
