Marina Services - Have You Ever Rented A Boat At WDW?

Hi All - Our anniversary is coming up - quick! - and we're planning to be at WDW this weekend. Have any of you ever rented watercraft around the resort? We've talked about it, but we've never done it. Is it worth it? And I suppose novice boaters couldn't get into too much trouble?

I would highly recommend the Wishes or Illuminations cruise. We did the Wishes one and it was quite probably the best Disney experience we have ever had. It was worth every penny. Several other here will agree.

We've rented the Sea Raycer before. It was pretty fun actually. I always worried about getting hit by one of the big boats though. Also you can get a dud Sea Raycer, which is no fun. I had to switch several times before I got one comparable to DW's.

I've never rented one myself but I agree with LIFL the Illuminations Cruise is amazing!

We've done the sea raycers and the pontoon boat. Both are very fun! One of our favorite things to do is head out on Bay Lake (rent at Wilderness Lodge) in a pontoon boat. You can even bring a picnic.

When you're done eating, head over the water bridge to Seven Seas Lagoon and enjoy the music from the magic Kingdom.

It's a great way to spend an hour or so.

congrats That's so cool! I think Illuminations cruises need to be booked far in advance, but it's still a great thing to consider if you can get a reservation!

I hope you had a wonderful Anniversary!

Do they have those dumb paddle boats at WDW? I always think those are a far better idea when I am on land then when I am stuck out in the middle of the water and my legs feel like jell-o.
So don't rent that..is my point.

Good point, Bali! I'm amazed at all that I still *don't* know after all this time. There is just soooo much to do at WDW that it's true...you really never have to leave.

We are planning to have a day together on Saturday, and we'll see what we can get into. Btw, is you pic of a hammock on property? We did a getaway to CBR for our anniversary two years ago, and J insists that the hammocks are his most favorite place in the World! He could skip the parks and park it right there, he says Smile

HaHa - definitely in the category of "looks like a better idea than it is..."I don't think they have any of those. Maybe they did many moons ago at River Country? I don't know...I'll have to get my souvenir book from 1978 out and look. I don't have a scanner, but I should take pics from that w/ my phone and post. My daughter is completely fascinated by it.

As for the paddle boats...yes, now I have a mental image of being stranded in the Seven Seas Lagoon on one of them with a ferry headed right for me eek

I would choose Wishes between the two also. As it was explained to me by helpful CM's; many feel Illuminations is a better show overall but MK and Wishes is a better environment. So if the theming and those intangibles are what works for you I'd go with Wishes. That said, you can't go wrong with either. At the risk of being ostricized or flogged; I have actually never seen Illuminations. Next FW cruise we'll see that one for sure.

Wishes is such a pixie dust kind of show! It makes my heart happy mickey But Illuminations is incredible from a cruise/pontoon boat -- so powerful!
