Marty Sklar at Chicago's MSI

Anyone going to Marty Sklar's presentation at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry this Sunday?

We will be going. We won't be going through the Walt's exhibit again, which is still going on.

Sorry but Chicago is a long ways from NH so my answer is no. But it sure sounds interesting.

The past two weeks have been a mad house here, I'm afraid it's just not in the cards for me.

Too bad no one else from the forum is going. We will have a good group from the WCPT for this one. We also have a minor addition to the expected meet-and-signing later on with Marty Sklar.

We had our monthly WCPT pin trading yesterday, and Tom Tombush (author of Disneyana and Pin Trading books) was there with us. He couldn't make it to MSI today, so he gave us a copy of a signed, newest edition of the Disneyana Magazine to give to Marty Sklar. The latest edition has an article by Marty on his newest book.

So it should be fun. I expect to blog this as I go long on my Disney blog if you care to follow.

We are sitting down in the auditorium waiting for the start of the presentation. Marty Sklar had just arrived to a round of applause from the audience.

Presentation over. We are in line, a very long line, for the book signing. No fast pass here.

Finishing up on the report from the Marty Sklar event yesterday, here we were in the auditorium waiting for the start of Marty's presentation.

After that, we piled out of the auditorium to stand in line for the book signing. It was a long line, and we were in it for about 1 1/2 hours. Still, they gave those in line plenty of opportunity to shake hands and take photos with him.

Here is Marty Sklar's autograph of his book. We also had him autograph the admission ticket to the event.

They were handing out these book markers that had Mickey's 10 Commandments on them.

The gift stores still have the D23 MSI pins. But we saw something we haven't come across before. They had the cutest Jelly Belly dispenser we had ever seen! I don't recall seeing this anywhere else before. So we bought one for our Jelly Bellies. It was $29.95 each.

It was a fun day.

Here is my digital library collection at this time:

Hidden Magic - Walt Disney World by Susan Veness (slightly dated but interesting)
The Cast Member's Guide to Walt Disney World
Walt Disney World- Hidden History - by Kevin Yee
The World's Toughest Disney Quiz Book by Shaun Finn (there are three in the series)
Hidden Magic Walt Disney World Trivia - Susan Veness
Disney Tips and Secrets by Roger Wilk
Walt Disney World: The 71 Things you Need to See by William Saubier
The Independent Guide to Walt Disney World 2014 by John Coast
The Ultimate Disney World Savings Guide by Beth Haworth (meh...but might offer some saving prior to trips)
Walt Disney the Man behind the Mouse by Daniel Alef
The Hidden Magic of Disney Trivia - Ride by Ride by Susan Veness
Keys to the Kingdom Your Complete Guide - by Roger Wilks
The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2014 by Bob Sehlinger
Saving the BIG Bucks at Walt Disney World by Shannon McGilvray
Disney World Tips and Secrets by Bob Sehlinger

I can't help noticing that many share an author, but most were either free or less than $5, so I figured anything that meets the current "fix" and prepares me for the trip is worth putting away.

BTW I do have a lot of other books as I have 32G of memory on my android tablet, but these are re-read a lot. silly

I think you meant to post this in the Disney Reading thread, because what you post is off-topic to this thread.
