May Weather?

Has anyone been to WDW in May recently? What should I expect weather wise. I mean I know it will be HOT, but will it be humid already? Should I pack for constant thunder storms or just the quick afternoon shower?

I've been wondering this too! We've only ever gone in fall or winter.

I've been in June, and that was intense. Not as hot as September but still steamy. We had a tropical storm on that trip though so I don't know if that is the norm or not. I'm hoping not but I want to be prepared.

I'm surprised people don't have spontaneous combustion in August in WDW.

We were just there yesterday so that's pretty close to May laugh

It was hot - in the upper 80s / low 90s. It's humid but not unbearably so like July August September. Do bring rain gear but if I recall from last year when we went in May of was just occassional and sporadic.

I think what is going to be less attractive is the parking lot construction and changes to the tram drop offs and longer walks to security and the park entrances (except for AK).

Luckily I won't have to deal with the Park transportation mess, no Parks for me this trip. My daughter on the other hand is young and can handle the hike. laugh

I will pack my rain jacket and a shower cap for my camera just in case biggrin

Me too! It's adorable! There was also a disney snacks raincoat I saw pictures of before. Hopefully they have one of them when we go!

We had a really good lizard-drowner on Thursday afternoon (5/9) but the rest was clear. Every day was hot, humid and mostly sunny; no way around it!

We had absolutely beautiful weather while we were there May 21-24th. Every day it was about 90 degrees with light breezes and sunny skies. While it was humid, it was not as bad as in June, and nowhere near as bad as September. I did feel the need to get out of the heat for a couple hours each afternoon, but really it was beautiful.

That being said there was torrential rain the week before. So take that all with a grain of salt.

I did learn that when the weather is hot and the sky is cloudless, chances are they have to cancel the torch lighting ceremony at the Polynesian. When the weather is too beautiful the black concrete gets too hot for the dancer to perform barefoot. Disappointing but makes total sense.
