A Megasuperspectacular Disney opportunity just fell in my lap... What to do???

So here's my dilemma, if you would call it that... eek

I was hoping to take the family to WDW one last time (for 2016) before our Annual passes expire on 31 May 2016. I didn't know what my sea going work schedule looked like for this summer until the other day (I spend months on end aboard a research vessel as an oceanographer/geophysicist). So the schedule came out and has me basically gone most of the summer while my kids are out of school. mad So I decided to shop around on the various DVC forums to see what DVC resorts were available for early to mid May. I also posted requests for confirmed reservations for the time period from early to mid May with some flexibility in my schedule. In short order, three emails came back offering me SSR reservations (non-confirmed) during this time with 5 continuous days being the longest they could find available. All asking $12-$13 a point. SSR was definitely not at the top of my list, so I reluctantly declined the offers, although thanking each for their time and effort in letting me know what was available. So, I said, I guess it wasn't meant to be.. sad

So just when I got the idea of going to Disney out of my head, an e-mail comes in this evening with an unbelievable offer for a 1-bdrm. villa at SSR for 7 days with a confirmed reservation. The DVC member offering me the reservation has to cancel their trip and is looking just to recoup some $$$ from the already made reservation and with this tremendous opportunity I'm finding it hard to turn it down. We were looking for a studio, but are able to get this 1-bdrm. villa at a lesser cost than a studio ($12 a pt.) for the same time frame.

What to do?? Y'all chime in and give me your thoughts... Especially those that have stayed at Saratoga Springs Resort or are DVC members and this is your home resort. We've never stayed here and really never looked at staying here, although DVC point rental is new to us (started in 2014 renting pts.).

Make me feel good about "Pulling the trigger" on this deal.. banana stars gaah

Thanks y'all!!! awesome

Do It! We liked SSR when we stayed there, we had a studio and that seemed large so if you have the chance for a one bed go for it.

Ha, all we do is enable!!! DO IT!

The girls and I went down in September for a trip and stayed there. It is a big resort and spread out but we loved it. We are not an "at the resort" that much group.

The rooms were great, we were close to a bus stop and we could walk to Disney Springs!

I think it is a great resort. Then again, you are at Disney, how can you go wrong?

DO IT!!

DH and I stayed at SSR Labor Day weekend and again at the end of January. We loved the proximity to Disney Springs. Rooms were very nice, buses were plentiful and landscaping was beautiful. Turf Club was excellent and reservations were readily available. Due to previous burglaries, make sure to request a second or third floor room! eek In spite of the thefts we would stay there again because last minute room reservations are plentiful!

Go for it! SSR is a great resort. It just doesn't have the awesome park access that some of the other resorts have and it doesn't make up for it with quite as much onsite fun as AKL. The Paddock pool is pretty sweet and don't underestimate the value of being able to walk to Disney Springs during the continuing state of road construction on that section of Buena Vista Drive. We do usually prefer to have a car with us if we're at SSR, but that's just because I'm intolerant of busing in general. I used to not mind it because I took the bus to work every day, but now that I'm in drive-where-I-want-when-I-want mode, I have less patience with having to wait for a bus.

Absolutely do it! We just stayed at SSR in December in a two-bedroom and we loved it. Beautiful resort, top notch service, Turf Club is out of this world, and it's wonderful being able to walk to Disney Springs.

Do it! I've had amazing service at SSR, the food at the two restaurants is great, the lake views of Disney Springs are awesome, ample pools, easy transportations, and the spa!! Plus, $12 a point is a pretty good price.

Kristen,

Thanks!! That $12 a point is the cost if I were renting a studio from 30Apr - 07May = 108 pts. x $12 pts. eek awesome clapping

Now do the math on a 1-bedroom villa for 7-nights (30Apr - 07May) at (229 pts. X $$???) = (108 pts. X $12)

Solve for $$???... Yeah, I know!!! A Megasuperspectacular Deal!!! awesome yay yeah

Probably an RCI exchange that couldn't use it. I'm no fan of SSR but that's a score.
