Mickey Monthly Boxes

I apologize if this got posted already. I recently saw an advertisement for Mickey Monthly Boxes, which look fun (though unfortunately a bit too expensive for my budget):

https://www.mickeymonthly.com
https://www.facebook.com/MickeyMonthly

Monthly combo of both souvenirs and snacks from Disney World, automatically delivered directly to your door, every month. We hand-pick each package from a large selection of WDW souvenirs and treats you can only get from your favorite vacation destination (until now). Choose from one of three magical subscription boxes ranging from individual, to family sized.

The concept of monthly surprise boxes seem to be very popular right now, and it's interesting that someone thought to make one with all Disney things! If anyone has signed up for this, let us know how it is.

PS I don't post often (I'm more of a reader than a talker), but I love reading all of your discussions/trip reports!

Cool. Sounds like the Marvel one my friend got for her husband for Christmas or may be it was his birthday.

This is something I am also curious about and skeptical. I'd like to know more.

I've had the first Marvel crate, some Loot Crates and a Star Wars surprise box...If things are of a high quality then the boxes will be quite good value, but it depends on if they're saying 'spend $x and receive a box worth $X'

For example, all three of the crates I've purchased say 'spend $35 and get a box worth more than $50-60 in return'. Some of the items are exclusive to the suppliers or are 'rare' finds.

The first Marvel crate included two Funko vinyls - the Hulkbuster and Ultron as well as a t-shirt and an exclusive limited run cover of an Avengers comic. My Loot crates have seen exclusives like a Shield bunker pass, limited run comics, books and t-shirts. The Star Wars surprise box was less of a hit but included two t-shirts and a Death Star tin tray.

I'd imagine that being run by Disney directly, they'll control the quality of the items sent more tightly than the other companies. the option to get bigger boxes is different to the other types where they just tell you that a box will be worth more than $X.

I'm tempted to try one box to see how it goes.

That sounds so neat! I'd really be interested in seeing reviews from people who have ordered and received the boxes.

I'm torn between the basic 2+2 or the middle Mickey sized box...shipping to the UK means I'm potentially paying up to $82 per Mickey box per month which I can't really justify but this is where the good stuff is with t-shirts and stuff...! I might get a 2+2 to see what it's like first.

Well, I've bitten the bullet and gone for a 2+2 box...will let you all know what this looks like once I receive it in about a month's time.

In the meantime, for those who are curious but don't want to click on the link, I've attached a screenshot of sample contents...it might be quite good.

Ok, so it arrived today...here's my report on what's in the box, etc.

I went for the cheapest option - 2+2 @ $30+$15 posting international. The customs label says the contents are valued at $50

More pictures may follow if I remember them later!!

So, in the box were my 2+2 items - 2 souvenirs and 2 snack items.

Souvenir 1: Donald Maul 3D effect plastic tumbler (complete with 2 Goofy chews)
Souvenir 2: Mystery Pin (unfortunately with the price tag still stuck on! $6.99)
Snack 1: Mickey rice snack with chocolate ears. This came wrapped in its own silver blanket and had a cool bag with it to keep it in shape!
Snack 2: Popcorn

Nicely wrapped in red tissue paper sitting on a bed of packing stuff. Comes with a nice little thank you card.

Will post pics of the tumbler and the mystery pin and the Mickey rice snack when I get home...I think I weirded my colleague out talking about this stuff in office hours although he was almost tempted to try it.

I'll let you know whether I think it's worth the money shortly (I'm not entirely sure the box total is $50, but will have a closer look later and these things are always subjective - it's whether you perceive it to be of value more than anything else and I'm sure I'll be collecting some of this stuff for my nephews...!)

That's pretty exciting... Can't wait to try it. I'm trying to remember how much the Mickey rice crispy treats are. We buy a crap ton of them everytime we go. Between $4-5 each I think.

I just signed up about a week and a half ago, I'm hoping it brings a bit of Disney magic in between vacations!

Disney had their own version of this, but it sold out already. I put myself on the waiting list for it.

Today's box is a little bit of a bonus...

So it's a Toys Tsum Tsum - the martians, a Disney mini metal carry case, a packet of sour jellies and a mysterious foil wrapped goodie which turned out to be a packet of cookies from Minnie's Bakery AND a packet of Chip and Dale's mountain nut mix, so 5 items all in all this month instead of the usual 4!

Hi there! Had a quick question for you about your August box. Do you mind sharing what you had in it and what your subscription box size was, pretty please? I'm trying to figure out if we were mis-shipped the wrong box, it seemed a bit lite for the Mother Load Monthly Combo Box.

Thanks for your help! Smile It's appreciated! mickey

My first box was a large shoebox size, the last one was slightly smaller but squarer. This month, as I only have a 2+2 sub, the box was probably the same size as two old VCR cassettes stacked. I guess it depends on what items they managed to get and how big they are.

My August box was a box of evergreen mints, a package of Goofy's jelly beans, a Pluto pen and the dole whip freshener, so I couldn't expect a massive box - a waste of shipping, especially to the UK!

Gotcha, thanks for sharing! Do you get the Mickey Sized Monthly Combo subscription? We signed up for the Mother Load Monthly Combo, and we were a little disappointed - so I was curious if we were accidentally mis-shipped another box instead.

Thanks again! Smile

Hey mandyandkeith, I only signed up for the 2 and 2 combo - it's a bit pricey getting stuff shipped to England and I wasn't sure how good the boxes would be. I've had various sized boxes shipped to me, but this month was the smallest so far. They were probably able to get items that didn't need big boxes this month.

I was wondering if anyone else has received their shipments and what they received?
Thanks for sharing Sid!

Received my new box this morning...it's a very small box today and I'm guessing the two snacks have been combined into one as I only have the one snack today - a Mickey shaped cereal lollipop thing plus two keyrings - one is a Donald covered hand sanitiser, the other is an M-I-C-K-E-Y one.

Mildly underwhelmed today, but can appreciate that it's a difficult job to buy a ton of snacks and souvenirs and distribute them evenly and fairly and ship them all over the place. The two keyrings are quite useful gifts to give out in any case and my belly will appreciate the Mickey shaped snack...

If there is anyone from the Mickey Monthly boxes reading, please make sure the December box has loads of Star Wars stuff please...!! Laughing out loud

The packages have now changed on the website and are no longer as originally described above. There are distinct US and International lines now...I may well have a think about whether it's worth keeping the sub going on this as the values appear to be getting less and less. This is not a slight on the organisers of the scheme as it's difficult to please everyone all of the time, but most other loot crate-type subscriptions guarantee a certain amount of value per box, no matter how small or big it is and it seems they're not able to guarantee a value...Sad

The top selection is the domestic line. The lower one is international...
