What will Disney World be like in 50 years?

Just something I was thinking about today and figured it might be a fun thread to see what everyone else thinks.

So, if we were to visit Disney World 50 years from now (okay some of us might not be around, but let's imagine anyway), what do you think we'd see?

  • People traveling around the parks on hover boards instead of walking?
  • Holographic or "Animaltronics" at AK instead of the real thing?
  • More parks and resorts?
  • Sophisticated systems that scan everyone and everything at the front entrance and know who has valid admission and security check so you can just walk right in without stopping?
  • Will Captain EO still be playing? eek
Or might it be pretty much the same as it is today?

Hmmmm....

LOL, in 50 years you might find my ashes sprinkled under a shrub somewhere.

Edited to add: Unless all of Florida is under water by 2065. Then I'd assume my ashes would've floated away or become fish food.

And NO "Animaltronics!" I want my ashes being sniffed by real critters!

Nah the hover boards will be banned by then. Smile

More advanced food ordering systems. Maybe no servers?

In 2065, Disney World will have a tiered ticket plan with 10 different levels of both regular tickets and annual passes. The least expensive AP will cost $10,000 and only let you in during September, early December, mid-January through the end of February (excluding holiday weekends), and most of May. The most expensive will cost more than your house and car combined.

I'll be sure to have my ashes sprinkled under a bush at a quiet resort somewhere so folks can afford to pay me a visit.

Captain EO - a throwback to a long lost era of '3D'...shown as an example of early tech seeing as tech 50 years from now will be ultra sensory hard light holographics and Walt will be seen wandering the park, greeting the visitors with enough AI to hold a conversation...Carousel of Progress will still be playing though...
AK - more likely to be a mix of both seeing as a lot of animals will have been made extinct by overhunting
All Disney visitors will have an implant injected just under the skin that allows them access without having to scan anything. It can detect whether you're hungry and subconsciously direct you to the nearest Casey's Corner or NeroBucks Coffee shop. It will also catalogue what you look at in the stores and effectively 'blind' you to stuff it doesn't see as a match or near-match and work out what rides you like so that it can automatically make fast passes for you. The implant will be matched to your stay, so it will expire by the time you leave...
Maybe by that time, someone will have had the nerve to actually build a version of Walt's Progress City and that it'll have established itself as a centre of technology worldwide...
