Mother's Day with Max, Day Two

The alarm went off at 7 - way too early. But, we had decided rope drop
was important enough to drag our butts out of bed, no matter how tired
we were. We headed off to AK & were there about 8:40. At rope drop,
we headed right off to Expedition Everest, but there was still a
helluva line. So we grabbed Fast Passes & went on Pangani Forest
Trail. Our FP's weren't for very long ahead, so we were able to grab
our Kilimanjaro Fast Passes & then head over to ExEv. We were lucky
& grabbed a car 2nd to the back. I like the back.

Now, weird thing..... I think I'm having trouble with ExEv. At the
Minnie Marathon weekend, we did it first thing & I was dizzy
afterwards & then wound up getting sick few hours later. So this
time, I took dramanine in the morning just in case. I was fine with
most of it, but the backwards part really had me feeling off. I'm sad
to say, I may need to take a break from ExEv. Bummer. I went for the
opening of it & rode 3 tmes in a row before I had to stop. I have
no idea why all of a sudden it's causing me problems.

Anyways, thanks to dramanine, I was able to keep going & keep
riding. It wasn't time for our Fast Passes or our early lunch ressies
at Tusker House yet, so we went over to Dinoland. We rode Dinosaur
& Primeval Whirl. I really like PW - I crack up the whole time. It
just makes me laugh so hard when you feel like you are about to launch
over the edge & instead you whip around & spin. We were sharing
the car with another Mother & Son, only this son was about 7 &
having the time of his life. It was such great fun to see him laughing
& cheering away.

By this time, it was getting close to time for our Tusker House
reservation. I made it for 11:30 so it would be sort of a brunch for
us. One of the bus girls was cleaning off a table near ours when we sat
down. We chatted with her a moment while she worked. Then her manager
came up & asked us if we would like to hear her sing. We said yes,
of course. This young woman had a beautiful voice. She sang a bit of
Zippity Doo Dah. We were totally surprised by such a beautiful voice.
She is trying to get in one of the shows, but says it's very hard since
once a person gets in, they never leave. Anyways, I really like the new
Tusker House buffet. When they first said they were taking out the CS,
I was a bit bummed because I liked it so much. But, I have to say, the
buffet is really terrific. Sort of like a Boma thing...not your
everyday buffet. I think my favorite was the Chicken Curry & Almond
Rice. That & the killer Tabbouleh.

After lunch, we decided to cool off on Kali before we used our
Kilimanjaro fastpasses. They weren' doing FP's there & on a hot day
(it was a record breaking 95 again) there was a bit of a line. It said
60 minutes, but it moved quickly & we think it was really more like
30-40. I ziplocked our stuff again & prepared to get soaked. And
soaked we got! It felt fantastic tho, since by this time & it was
only about 12:30, I was feeling a bit roasted. After Kali, we went over
to Kilimanjaro. We had a good driver & a nice Safari. It was so hot
that by the time we got done, we were almost dry already.

Even though I had hoped to see Festival of the Lion King & Finding
Nemo, we were just too damn hot & tired to keep going. That heat
really takes it out of you. Plus we had plans to go to Epcot & try
& meet up with Diane & Dick. We waited quite awhile for the
bus. Both of us fell asleep on the bus ride back to the Dolphin. Then
we went to our nice cool rooms to rest. I was out like a light. Good
thing I set an alarm or I could have slept fo hours. As it was, it was
about 3:45 by the time we woke up from our hour nap. Diane & Dick
were exhausted, overheated & had to get ready for their dinner
ressie, so we missed them again.

We grabbed showers & wandered over to Epcot. On the way thru, we
stopped at Canada to do the Oh, Canada movie. I haven't seen it since
1999. I loved the Martin Short redo. It was really good & I'm glad
we did it. Then we went to see about Soarin' FastPasses, but they were
gone for the day already. The posted wait time said 40 minutes, but
when we got in line, we quickly realized that it was more like 60-70
minutes. We bailed out. We quickly made a dcision to change our plans
for the morning from Rope Drop at the Studios to Rope Drop at Epcot.
Epcot is our favorite Park & Soarin' is one of our favorite
attractions. We really wanted to be sure to not miss it, no matter what.

So, we wandered over to Spaceship Earth. Max hasn't been on it since it
was refurbed. I think they did a good job. We liked our little movie
clip at the end. After SE, we decided we were just too hot & too
tired to keep going. We went the long way back t the Dolphin so I could
stop at Norway & get more cologne & perfume for Gary & I.
Then we went back to the resort. Max went up to the room to shwer again
& change while I made us a ressie at BlueZoo for a halfhour later.
We went down & were quickly seated. We opted for still water
service. We ordered the Seafood Flatbread for Two for our appetizer. It
was loaded with whole baby clams, scallops & shrimp, drizzled with
olive oil & garlic.....Delish! I had a nice Cotes du Rhone to go
with. For our mains, I ordered the Dancing Fish. It was a Pompano,
rubbed with Smoked Paprika & spit roasted. It was served with a
Chorizio Fingerling Hash, Tangerine, Olives & Chives. Max had 2
appetizers, the Seared Sea Scallops with Braised Beef Shortrib and the
Tuna Tartare with Crispy Rock Shrimp. After all that, there was no way
we could even think about dessert.

Luckily, all we had to do was go up 2 floors to our room. We tried to
watch a movie, but I was just too damn tired. I quickly fell sound
asleep, dreaming of the next day in Epcot & the Studios.....

We love Primeval Whirl. I have heard the modifications after the CM got killed have made it a bit less fun, did you notice?

Sounds like a FANTASTIC day! I love the sound of that chorizo fingerling hash... . And isn't it great to finish a big meal and only have to go up a few floors to your room? We love that.

I'm glad the dramamine worked for you. Several folks have mentioned that they just can't do EE like they used to!

Haven't seen the new Oh Canada movie. Sounds like something I should get on the agenda. Everyone seems to enjoy it.

Have you seen the France movie? How recently was that updated?

What a terrific day you had! What a treat to hear the waitress sing, huh? I love cool interactions like that when I'm traveling. Tusker House sounds wonderful. I might have to give that a try next time.

I'm really enjoying your TR, Leota.

I was totally bummed that Tusker House went table-service, too. I used to LOVE going there for a quiet breakfast while everyone else was buzzing about getting fastpasses. But it sounds like it's got some good changes, so I'll have to check it out soon.

And that backwards part in EE COMPLETELY doesn't agree with me. Yuck!

Who are Diane and Dick?

It's interesting that you mention EE getting harder on you. I've sort of noticed the same thing. Each trip I seem to have a little less capacity to handle it. Do you think it's because I'm getting older, or could there be another explanation?

I haven't seen the France movie in awhile, I'm not sure.....

I thought Primeval Whirl seemed a little toned down too. It was still fun tho. I really like that attraction. It's good, cheesey fun laugh

Yeah, I'm thinking my ExEv days may be behind me, I'm sad to say. It's such a bummer. I used to do any ride I wanted till I had Max, then I couldn't for a long time. In about 2001, I started be able to do the big Coasters again & I really got into it. But then, last spring, I had that problem with ExEv & I couldn't believe it was from the ride. But after riding it last weekend, I'm sure that was it. I'm 44. I feel like I'm in the prime of life....could it be age? confused

Diane & Dick are friends of mine that were down in WDW the same time we were. I met Diane thru the DIS years & years ago. We just couldn't connect last weekend. We were always zigging when they were zagging.

The film in the France pavillion - Impressions de France, has not been changed since Epcot opened in 1982. My opinon is that it's just too good of a film for them to have a need to change it. It's by far the best film IMO, of any of the WS films. The soundtrack is still very popular too.

Another great thing about it is, unlike the other WS theatres, there are actual seats in this theatre, as opposed to leaners.

What a fun story about the CM at Tusker House! That's great that her manager was so willing to let her show off her stuff. You never know when a Disney Entertainment person will be lunching--that could have been a free audition!

Primeval Whirl is one my favorites! I always laugh hysterically on that ride, too.

Did you take dramamine before EE?
