Need Help Picking 4 Hotels, our Wedding is Changing!

I will update my wedding thread but we are now going with a larger wedding, and getting married in February 2014 so that we can do a Wishes wedding rather than an Escape package. With a Wishes wedding we get to choose 3-4 host hotels for our guests with discounts. We will be getting married at the Sea Breeze Point Gazebo, and our reception will be held at EPCOT. I will also be running the Disney Princess Half Marathon the morning of our wedding. That night I intend to stay at the Grand Floridian with a late check out so that my hair etc can be done after my nap. So now I need to pick 4 host hotels, and I need them to be close enough that our guests wont land on a bus for an hour + but nice. My worry is that one of the hotels I'm considering might be a haul but it has a lot of meaning to me. Here are the 4 I'm considering:

1. AKL as our delux. Its beautiful I've stayed here twice, and fiance really wants to stay here. My aunt wants to stay here too the discount will be about 25%. Its also one of the cheaper delux hotels.
2. The Carribean. We've stayed here and I really liked it. Its one of the cheaper moderates, and we like the pirate rooms. We feel our guests will enjoy the open air, and knowing it was our first Disney Trip as a couple.
3. Pop Century- Its a good Value resort. I've never stayed here but it has really great reviews from everyone on this board. I think the wild colors will be fun for our guests. The 10% discount will also make it very affordable for those with less money.
4. Art of Animation. I believe this one is right next to pop century.IT offer suites so though it is more expensive overall I feel with the 10-15% discount it maybe appealing to some who want to split a room cost.

Thoughts? Are these too far spaced? Are these diverse enough to be appealing? We will have a luxury motercade picking up our guests from the resorts. We anticipate 35-55 people with 45 our actual expectation.

Whoo hoo! Congrats! I'll be there that weekend!
Well, at least a Princess Weekend trip is is in the early talking stages at the moment.

As far as the hotels go, they're not the ones that I would pick but I don't see anything wrong with them. I do find both AKL and CBR kind of remote. I would probably offer Boardwalk, Beach or Yacht Club as an option sine they're so close to your ceremony and reception. AOA & Pop are good Value choices, close enough to each other so guests staying at either of them will be able to meet up easily just by strolling across the bridge.

Okay... eek Is 13.1 a training run for you?
Just make sure that you have enough time to get back to the hotel, shower, nap, hair & makeup, photos, and transportation. What time is your ceremony? TOTALLY get a picture in your wedding gown with that medal around your neck too! Are you going to run in a bride running costume?

I'm impressed that you're even considering doing those two things on the same day! That's pretty hard core.

Running the race on my wedding was 100% my fiance's reccomendation. He knew I'd run 5-10 miles that morning. This is typical for me before holidays, parties, social events, or other people's weddings.

13.1 though the longest distance I've raced on foot alone is a run I do once every 2 months or so as a training run. Its a common distance for me to run and my system does well with it. Even at the end of a Half Iron I can run 13.1 in about 2 hours 10 minutes, on my own under 2 hours. The run starts at 5:30 I should be done by 7:40 worst case scenario depending on coralling,if the coralling isnt a problem 7:15-7:20 is a better approximation. Which allows us to have me back at the hotel by 9 and showered by 9:30. I was planning on napping till 12:30 and getting up to have hair done at 1 Smile. I will do my own make up which takes 15 minutes due to major skin allergies. Nails will be done the day before. Running means I can eat lots of cake and no nerves!

One of my bridesmaids and my cousin will also run. We are going to get shirts. The front of hers will say Bridesmaid and the back "Chasing the Bride to the Alter" and mine will say Bride and on the back "Running to the Disney Alter 2-23-14" She should finish by 8. My male cousin and I will probably finish at the same time. My fiance he will play world's best cheerleader with a shirt that says "Cheering on my Bride" on the back.

Our reception will not have dancing and should be done by 10:30 or 11 Smile so even if my feet are a little tired I should be good. I'm definetly getting bling photos though in my wedding dress. I'm also going to get some special ones of me and my father as its his 60th birthday that day as well!

As to hotels I'd like to offer AKL despite it being remote, due to it being somewhere with specific memories of us and a good value. Which moderate would you reccomend?

Well that's just dern cool! I totally want to see the bling/dress pics. mickey I've walked 5Ks and would love to jog/run them but some health concerns are making it difficult for me, so walking it is. I have dreams of doing the Princess 1/2, but it'd be 4.5/5 hours for me to complete it. Frankly, I'm not sure I have the patience and determination to get through the training let alone complete the race. After walking for an hour I'm bored to death. DD19 and I are talking about walk the Princess 5K in 2014 again, we had a fabulous time last year.

I like Port Orleans for a moderate, either side, but honestly I haven't stayed there for about 20 years. So take that with a grain of salt. I think I saw that you're doing your welcome dinner at Splitsville, and that's only a boatride away from PO. But if you enjoy the Caribbean Beach Resort there's no real reason not to have them book there. No matter where I am at Disney it always seems to take me a little longer than I want to get where I'm going. LoL!

Hey, Pixie, before you get those T-shirts made...when referring to that thing at the front of a church, it's spelled "Altar." Alter is what's going to happen to your wedding gown to make it fit right.

Sounds like awesome wedding and race plans, I look forward to reading all the details.

Everything sounds absolutely wonderful! Can't wait to see pictures. My recommendation for a Moderate Resort is definitely POFQ. Its quaint, not too far from the parks, and the grounds are beautiful! Its my favorite "go to" resort!

I love reading about Disney weddings!! I am a SBP bride. I would pick AKL but because we love it there so that doesn't help you out. For our wedding we stayed at PORFQ. I will have to find you wedding report. Best Wishes Smile

LOVE your idea! You are awesome to be running on your wedding day! I think you have a great plan! In my opinion you can't go wrong with AKL, which is where we stayed for our honeymoon! I'm jealous you're having your wedding at disney! Where in Epcot is the reception?

I don't have other resort suggestions, sorry!
