Which Disney hotel has the best pool?

Some may say this is a no-brainer, others may disagree. Which Disney resort do you think has the best swimming pool?

Your right Brad it is a no brainer, Yacht and Beach Club with STORMALONG BAY!!! There are a lot of nice pools in WDW but none of the caliber of Stormalong Bay.

Jess Stormalong Bay is the name of the Yacht & Beach Clubs pool situated on the Boardwalk and near Beaches and Cream. It is ultra themed and is HUGE. It is the only WDW pool that has guards stationed at the pool entrances, and they are armed with assault rifles and grenade launchers, (Just kidding, Just kidding) but they actually have guards to check resort ID's most of the time. Words can not do justice in describing this pool, in fact it is the only pool that I know of in WDW that has a sandy bottom, a small lazy river type ride and a pirate ship for kids to play on. I once read the area that it covers and though I forget how big, it is VERY big.

Hmmmm might have to look into this for the kiddos...Is it like all the other Disney Resorto pools. As long as you are staying at a Disney Resort you can go there or do you specifically have to be staying and the Yacht Club?

Jess You HAVE to be staying at the Yacht & Beach Club to use that pool, there is no pool hopping allowed at Stormalong bay. and at busier times they really do have attendants at the entrances to check resort IDs.

What VL said - we stayed there in Sept 2009 and that pool is AWESOME! The sandy bottom, the lazy river and the pirate slide are killer (and yes, I did the slide! Fun!). And they did have lifeguards at each entrance checking our ID each time we went there.

The also have pool activities and music for the kids, with prizes! It's my all-time favorite of all the places we've stayed so far.

Um, k...that's worth a stay, then. I've heard it's wonderful, but I had never seen a description. WOW. (But CBR is pretty cute, and should get some kinda honorable mention.)

What about at least busy times? And what are these resort ID's? The only thing we get is our keycard and it looks generic as possible. Is this something they get specifically at that resort?

When we go its the week before Thanksgiving, and no one is there.

The rule is that you have to be staying there. Why are you trying to break the rules? If you want to go so much, stay at the resort for one night so you can check out the pool, then go do your DVC the rest of the stay. Even if it isn't crowded, i hope they keep the rule that you have to stay there. It is something specifically for the people staying at that resort who have paid the money for that resort. If that is the rule in place, no one else should get to go in ever. Rules are rules. Trying to find your way around them is just rude when you have a chance, just like everyone else, to use the pool if you stay there. What kind of lesson are you teaching your children by trying to break the rules in place for everyone else?

/end rant

We are not trying to break any rules...we were just wondering cause we know you can pool hop at the other resorts just wondering if it was the same here.....

Please allow me to step in here and try to correct a wrong idea that pool hopping is allowed at other resorts, see jess's quote above ^and Mase's statement that "what about least busy times" and "when we go the week before Thanksgiving, and no one is there". The fact of the matter is that NO POOL HOPPING is allowed at all, and in support of that I am including an article from the ALLEARS website in reference to that matter.

Can guests at Disney make use of the swimming pools at other resorts other than their own?

Hi Bonnie!

It's that time of year again. I'm getting a number of questions about using other resorts' pools, so once again, here is the official policy on pool hopping:

Disney resort pools are for the use of that resort's guests only, with the following exceptions:

- Disney Vacation Club Members staying at a DVC resort on points may hop to any other Disney resort's pool with the exception of the Uzima Pool at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and Stormalong Bay at the Yacht and Beach Club (unless they're staying at the Animal Kingdom Villas or the Beach Club Villas, of course!). When Kidani Village opens at Animal Kingdom Lodge, the Samawadi Springs Pool will very likely be restricted as well. At certain busy times of the year, all pool hopping is suspended at all resorts.

- Guests of any of the All Star Resorts may use any other All Star Resort's pool.

NOTE: The Pop Century Resort is not included in this agreement, as it is not one of the All Star Resorts.

- Guests of Port Orleans Riverside may use Port Orleans French Quarter's pool and vice versa.

The only time you may see an exception to the above rules is when a pool is undergoing a refurbishment and is closed for a long period of time. When you check into your resort, the front desk will advise you on which pools are available for you to use.

An important note about Stormalong Bay: Valid Yacht and Beach Club ID will be required to enter the pool area, and the cast members at this pool are very strict about this policy. After showing your ID, you are given a bracelet to wear to identify you as a Yacht or Beach Club guest. Attempting to sneak in is not advised.

So Mase through your statements NOT your actions it gave the idea that you were trying to "circumvent" the rules about going into the Stormalong Bay Pool. Also I read Caitiesus statement three times and I did not see the word lieing used at all.
Also another post by Jess, namely "We are not trying to break any rules...we were just wondering cause we know you can pool hop at the other resorts just wondering if it was the same here....." just shows that you were unfortunately misinformed so just trying to rectify that and possibly prevent you from being enbarassed some time in the future.
I really hope you do not take offense at this post but I am just trying to explain a few things. Vettelover

Well... here is the thing. We are DVC members and with AKL. So we can pool hop. We had just never heard of this one and didnt know if at non-peak times it would be fine. But the thing I take offense to is her saying we are teaching our kids to lie. I think im allowed to take offense to that. All I was doing was asking a question.

And as for her saying about the lieing. She did say that inplace of breaking the rules. She edited it afterwards. Either way... its offensive for her to even suggest that because we are DVC members, and we can pool hop.

Um first of all I edited nothing in the post. At all. And your statement did say you were trying to circumnavigate the rules "but can we do this. What about this?" That is trying to get around what is there.

And seriously? It is LYING. Lieing is not a word.

To be fair, I will say that Caitie definitely didn't edit anything -- she posted and then we went out - she didn't change a thing in her post.

I read it as trying to break the rules as well. As a teacher, if I tell a kid "no" about something, and they come back with "what about this?" "How about that?," it's a sure sign they're trying to get around what I told them no to in the first place. It was pretty clear early in the thread that the answer is "no pool hopping." Mase, your subsequent post said:

"What about at least busy times? And what are these resort ID's? The only thing we get is our keycard and it looks generic as possible. Is this something they get specifically at that resort?

When we go its the week before Thanksgiving, and no one is there."

This is akin to my students saying "Well, you said I can't go the water fountain, but can I go to the bathroom?" The answer is no, you're just trying to get out of class.

Having a DVC membership allows you to pool hop - great, but as Vettelover posted (and was said earlier) there are exceptions. The Y&B pool is one. Once that's been stated, any further questions about it reads like trying to skirt the rules.

They question has been answered and we ARE allowed to pool hop because we are Disney Vacation Club members...just not to Stormalong Bay and that's fine....so now we can drop it. We weren't trying to cause any drama...just asking a question....and for some reason it turned into un necessary drama. Let's just all go back to being happy Smile

well at the very least you can go SEE Stormalong Bay .. because I've done that and I've NEVER been asked for an ID to walk around in the area. Also, it's where Beaches and Cream is so you can have a tasty ice cream treat (the Orange Creamsicle drinky things are to die for) and watch everyone at the pool.

First off. Take how ever you want to take as my post. Its obvious no matter what anyone says... you shall have your own opinions. In that post Vette posted it has been said there are special circumstances. I cant believe people want to argue about something like this? Its unbelievable.

I asked a perfect sensible question. It was stated that they have these ID's... I wanted to know about them. I didnt realize this ment I was turning into 007 and trying to bypass terrorist actions to gain access to this super secret pool. Also asking if at times of low attendance to the parks and/or resorts that maybe then you could go. Because again... WE ARE ALLOWED TO POOL HOP. Let alone... like DD said. Why cant we go and check it out?

Last point... I thought this was a friendly place. This may be a little out of order but I was asking a serious question and didnt think it warranted a response like that. Im fine with opinions, but dont tell me how to parent or question my parenting.

Again... it seems like we have to shout this from the roof tops... WE ARE DVC MEMBERS. WE ARE ALLOWED TO POOL HOP.

And this is the internet, and could careless about correct spelling, punctuation, run on sentences.......................................... And im going to be honest... I honestly dont know if ill be back if this is how people get treated on here. Especially with questions someone is trying to ask. I also know what I saw, and wouldnt had wrote what I did if I didnt see it.

Out

Getting us back on track here I would have to go with Nanea Volcano Pool. Although I do have to say that Stormalong Bay is really cool.

Honestly, I'm rarely in the resort long enough to think about going to the pool so it doesn't make much difference to me. If I did find myself with 1/2 a day spare then I'd go to one of the water parks.

Well Ya finally did it. Turned the board. It was just a matter of time. I have been around a long time and understand human nature. Just being over 21 doesn't make you grown up and certainly not mature.
Have at it.
Too bad.
