Orlando climate in September

I've never been to Orlando in September before (I'm going in the first 2 weeks). So far I've only been there June-end of August. I thought I was on to a bit of a winner, because of crowds apparently being low after labor day and me being fine with hot sticky heat (and the daily mini-thunderstorms), but I've since read elsewhere that once it gets to September as it's the end of hurricane season it will be hot, but cloudy and rainy.

How have other people's Orlando September experiences been?

Hi Pego -

We were there last year for 2 weeks in September (starting on the 19th), and we found it to be a bit hot and really humid. I thought it would have been a bit less humid by then, and many of the locals were saying that it sure seemed to stay hotter and more humid longer than usual.

We had mini-thunderstorms maybe twice, but they did not last long.

I had read alot about the weather in September prior to our trip, and in the end, it really just seems to be a crap-shot.

Early September is basically the same as late August..hot & humid..but the lack occasional afternoon shower does help the weather a little bit. Overall with the lower crowds September can be a nice time to go!

I like September, but later is better from a weather perspective. It's surprisingly warm, particularly in the early part of the month. It can rain a bit, but crowds are usually pretty good.

I'm sorry to say that it is a bit of a crap shoot. It can be a very rainy month, but not always. And it is usually miserably sticky and hot, made moreso by the fact that we Floridians are SO OVER THE HEAT by that time, and just wish for a break. BUT - the crowds being so light really does make it a pleasurable time to visit. And if you combine your Disney trip with a stay at the beach, you can also take advantage of light crowds there, while it's still warm enough to swim (cooler nites in Oct cause the unheated pools to start cooling off, and many hotels don't turn their pool heaters on until around Nov 1.)

Bella - I'm not sure about the WDW pools. They might be a little less stingy with their heat than the beach resorts! Gosh, we froze though one year in Ormond in late Oct everytime we tried to swim, even though the days were still quite warm.

Since we have totally hijacked this thread...I remember we went once in December and it was freeeeeezing! We didn't even bring four bathing suits but we got back to the resort and saw some fools swimming so we decided to give it a try..I mean we were 21 and invincible then..and the pool was so warm. I was so surprised. Getting out was awful though!
