Other Convention Locations

If you were planning a convention, is there anyplace you'd consider scheduling it BESIDES WDW? Vegas? Hawaii?

Pigeon Forge, TN. Ample meeting space, breathtaking views, and more attractions than you can shake a stick at.

Not the first time I've touted the virtues of Pigeon Forge, I know. Just sprung to mind because I've walked by the convention center there many times.

That also has the advantages of WDW that it's inexpensive to get to. Hawaii is great, but an 8+ hour flight is both expensive and time consuming. Not the best way to get business done.

Yeah, I would not do Hawaii unless impressing/schmoozing is an integral part of your business model.

I've seen people do some relatively inexpensive conferences in the Caribbean islands. There are very cheap flights from the east coast, and group rates can be very low...esp during low/hurricane season.

Good point. Although you'd have to be on watch for spring breakers.

You could do some of the seasonal vacation places off-season. Places in the Northwest where you can get in just before the cold, but after the crowds.

This is a really good idea. Grab one of those old lodges right after Labor Day once all the vacationers are gone.

That kind of beauty abounds in the Smokies.
