Is this overdone?

What do you all think of Nightmare Before Christmas weddings? This would be in October at Disney World with purple and orange colors. Discuss:

I don't think it would be overdone as long as you don't seriously overdo it. I mean, use the colors, have a little fun with it, but don't have 3-foot tall Skellington centerpieces on every table or do your makeup as if someone had sewn you together. And don't scare the kiddies.

I say no, but that's your choice to make. I figure if your getting married in Disney World, nothing other then Princess and Prince Charming would do. The carriage with white horses, flare of the trumpets, the Castle off in the distance................if only a dream! But we've been happily married for 33 years.......hum, maybe a vow renewal?

We will probably be getting married in either epcot or the gazebo, with a reception at epcot with fireworks. I'm thinking of doing lanterns down the aisles and possibly pumpkins/jack-o-lanterns around the alter rather than flowers. I have two special lanterns for the alter that have dragonflies and are mosaic. The groom will have a pinstripe tux provided we can find one. The ladies purple dresses with purple and orange flowers with fiddle back ferns. My dress is ivory I am going to get a purple and orange brooch bouquet. The flower girl will drop petals, dragonfly cutouts, and plastic spiders Smile. The cake will have Sally and Jack, the guest book, and the invitations. Otherwise it will be pretty much purple and orange. So no scary make-up or scaring little kids. Our original theme was purple and green masquerade ball with beauty and the beast undertones. Since we are probably not going to be dancing FI suggested the NBC instead.

There will be photos, and I'll start a trip report/wedding prep report once we make a final decision.

Mr. Hub they do offer vow renewels too Smile. They do the memories collection, and escape packages that are smaller than what we are looking at.

Yeah I know, I just think they are way to overpriced!

Aw yeah! I just love aesthetics of Nightmare. muchlove

I'm sure you've already looked on the internet and have seen so many gorgeous photos from other weddings that people have done with the theme. Out of the ones I've seen, my favorites have used color schemes similar to yours with orange or yellow and purple or midnight blue. Basically any colors that you can draw from a dark, moonlight autumn night.

Love your idea of using jack o'lanterns, that is probably one of the best ways to use the orange color because it's a very natural glow. Have you thought of using the Nightmare font on the invites? It can be downloaded for free if you're making them yourself, and plenty of people on Etsy already use it for stationary so they wouldn't be hard to have custom designed.

Yes we will probably do NBC invites Smile. The funny thing is unbeknownst to FI I was going to have his ring engraved with "We are simply meant to be".

I think if the Nightmare theme is your thing, then it doesn't really matter if other people do it or not. That you should do what makes you happy, and if that's it you should go for it!

Thank you everyone!

Now another question. How would you feel about a build your own Sandwich welcome party with jack-o-lantern carving? We would do this at lunch before the rehersal and rehersal dinner with anyone in town. I'd give away little halloween bags with candy and disney maps. The jack-o-lanterns would be used as decorations for our wedding and reception.
