FuFu, just because of the name.

JEFF! Why do you always pick EXACTLY what I pick but BEFORE me!! UGH! hahahaha...

but yes I was going to put FuFu - sweet and white potatoes mashed with coriander and cinnamon because cinnamon and white potatoes just dont sound like they go together very well..

so instead, my vote is for the Coconut Currey Seafood Soup... sounds rather interesting!

It's not very exotic, but I just had to say that the spit roasted corned beef at BOMA is the best corned beef I've ever had in my life. Total win in the meat department!

So for those who dont know... Mr. Hubb and Scrappy wanted me to take a video of Jess on Tower of Terror for the first time. Well... I did and it was a documentary! lol. Right now its being converted to 1080p and its a whopping 6 and a half minutes long. I did a bit of it on the plane, and finished when I got home. So its been converting for about an hour now. So tomorrow... I should have Boma up, AND this video to share! But the video will go on Facebook first... then ill link it from here to there after that. Sorry its taking so long... just been a long 48 hours... lol. I need a vacation from my vacation... lol

See ya tomorrow!

Alright.... after sleeping most of the day and eating in between, I can finally finish this! lol

Aright... so with that picture the curried coconut seafood stew is the top most. The Watermelon Rind Salad is to the right. The Couscous Marrakesh is on the plate middle right. The Bobtie is top left, and the FuFu is top right. And yes... there is some extra on there... beef with bbq sauce on top and mash potatoes.

The way ill write this is what I was expecting, the note I took right after I ate it, then ill go into it more in detail.

So.... we shall go right in order of what I ate since thats how my notes were. Also... the way I went was the least I wanted to try to most. So... with that...

Curried Coconut Seafood Stew
After looking at the list you guys gave me... this one was the one I didn't want to eat at all! Well... for one... I'm not much for soup. Two... I do like seafood... but in water form (I know that sounds odd since all seafood comes from the water), it doesn't sound right as in soup. So yeah... I was not looking forward to this AT ALL.

Note: 1st curried coconut seafood stew - kris
Very good! Has a slight kick that doesn't burn.

I was SUPER surprised about this. Like I said... I'm not one for soups. I eat/drink soup when I feel sick, so this was a super treat for me. It had a slight bite to it. It wasn't the type of bite that was spicy, but it was hard to describe the bite. I just know to me it wasn't spicy. But I do have a high tolerance when it comes to spicy foods. The only thing I didn't like were the lemons in it. They put slices of lemon in it, and it got in the way of some of the other goodies that were in it. SMALL, MINOR thing... but it did prevent me from having a clean bowl.

Kris! Amazing pick!

-------------------------------------------------

Watermelon Rind Salad
This was another one on paper that I wasn't looking forward to. Why? Up until a couple days ago... I had never had salad. Was never a leaf eater. But when I saw it, I thought... hmmm... doesn't look as bad as I thought.

Note: 2nd Watermelon Rind Salad - Scrappy
Wow! Wasn't expecting this taste! Very sweet and crunchy! Very good!

Just like the note said. It was a super sweet, and crunchy experience! I couldn't believe how good it was. I felt like I should had eaten this last because of how sweet it was. It was like a dessert salad! I highly recommend this, but either eat it at the VERY beginning, or at the VERY end. It was tough going from the soup to this. But thats my recommendations on this one.

Scrappy! Loved it!

-------------------------------------------------

Couscous Marrakesh
This is when I started to feel safe with the choices. Now... when I found it on the bar, I'm not a 100% sure it was the correct one. It was couscous, but it had berries in it I believe and I couldn't find exactly Couscous Marrakesh. So went with this one.

Note: 3rd Couscous Marrakesh - reflections
Reminded me if a grounded rice. Wasn't to bad. Liked it best with the mashed potatoes mixed in

It wasn't too bad. I was hoping for a little more flavor, but wasn't too bad. I ended up liking it the most when mixed with the potatoes or the FuFu.

Thank ya reflections!

-------------------------------------------------

Bobtie
This one didn't bug me at all, and even the look of it didn't bug me. So this one seemed easy peasy to me... lol

Note: 4th bobtie - lizzy
Ehhhhhh..... Lol

Sorry Lizzy. Really wanted to like this, but I took two bites, and couldn't go anymore. It just had no flavor. The bread part was good, but I didn't want to keep eating it when I had other stuff to eat to.

-------------------------------------------------

FuFu

Gonna drop the ball on this one...

Note: FuFu - Jeff
FYI. I make this at home and love it. Lol

Yup... I came back last year from it wanting to make FuFu. Did all the research of it, and came up with my own recipe for it. I love this stuff! I don't make it a lot because its a pain to make, but I LOVE IT! SOOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-------------------------------------------------

That was the desserts I chose. Going from top left, and then clockwise it was a Apple Crisp, Chocolate Cake, Peanutbutter Cheesecake, Butterscotch Cheesecake, Zebra thing (lol... having a hard time remember the names... lol), and a brownie.

Next picture will show what I liked and what I didn't like... lol

So there ya have it! The winner for all of this is going to go to Kris. Reason being... not a soup person, and that soup floored me. I couldn't believe how good it was. I highly recommend everyone trying it if you guys visit Boma! I recommend you try them all really because even if I didn't like it, it is still worth trying by far for the experience! Just make sure you go in there with an appetite. I went in with eating a couple hours before, but I didn't have much choice and didn't want to lose a lunch credit.

Ok... so there you have it! Thank you all for your participation. I have pins for everyone who picked something for me and ill PM you all probably tomorrow so I can ship them too you! So please be on the look out for the PM's. I also plan on rating which places I liked and didn't like this week to after this post to let you guys know my opinions on each place and what to expect from each restaurant.

So there ya go! Thanks again everyone... and for those waiting on the Tower of Terror video... it is currently on my Facebook page, and will post a link to it right now!

Hi Mase...I'm glad the couscous was at least palatable! The Morrocan CousCous that I've had in my life had little berry-like things, so I think you got the CousCous Marrakesh.

I've heard SO MUCH about Zebra Domes being great. I'm spending a couple hours at Animal Kingdom Lodge just to explore, get a drink, and maybe a Zebra Dome. How was it??

Glad you had a great trip!

That was the second time I've had the Zebra Dome. Only reason I didn't finish it was a couple things. I was pretty full and wanted at the brownie, and it was SUPER RICH. Just couldn't finish it... lol

It was very good.

Hooray! I'm so glad you liked the curried coconut seafood stew. I had no idea when I picked it that you weren't much of a soup guys, but there is something about curry/coconut and seafood that screams try me! I'm thrilled it was a hit. I'll have to get to Boma on my next trip and give it a try myself!

Sounds like a very interesting meal. I will have to live it through you though because I do not think I would ever be brave enough to try Boma for dinner. I did really like it for breakfast though when we tried it on our last trip.

In all honesty... the first time I went there I was scared as well. Didn't think I would find anything. But they have this shredded beef. The one I put bbq sauce on... IT IS AMAZING. I just didn't talk about it because you guys didn't say anything about it, which is my bad. They also have a great pork tenderloin as well. But the reason I went for the suggestions on here was to get me out of my comfy zone because all I would had eaten were the tenderloin and beef, fufu, and mash potatoes... lol

I have to say it Kris.... it was amazing! The biggest surprise of the trip. You should ask Jess... once she saw the list she asked if I was actually going to try it all, and I said yeah. She then asked if I was going to eat it all, and said not if I hate it... lol. And I pretty much devoured the soup, except for the lemons at the bottom... lol

As for a buffet... it was very nice. Jess LOVES Boma. The variety of food is amazing. There really is something for everyone on the buffet. See... now that this is over... I'm thinking... I should had taken a video of the whole thing showing off what all they had and how they do it. Grrrrrrrr... ok... send me back. Thats fine. I know the parks will be busy this week... just give me a Savannah view and some internet and I'm good and ill correct this. biggrin

Boma is on our "must visit" restaurant list. There are so many different things to try - exotic for the daring, safe for those who aren't. Pretty much anybody can find something they like at Boma.

Yeah the durbin spiced chicken with the Boma mustard is my favorite there...Love the boma mustard...and I love all the different salads and side dish choices that they have there. But we have done it two years in a row and I think I have my fill for awhile...and next year I think we are going to have to cut down on the amount of ADR's we have so I think it will be one that can be skipped next year.

To be perfectly honest. I loved each place we went to this year. Last year, our ADR's were very much a hit and miss for me. I think I only enjoyed 2 out of all of them, and we only returned to 2 from last year, and one of them I didn't care for (Teppan was the one I enjoyed, and Boma was the one I didn't care to much for). So this year we entrusted in you guys to help us out, and all of the places we went to were awesome! Now... I do have ones I liked more than others for certain reasons so I'm going to start with my least favorite to my favorite. So lets start this off with #5!

#6 - Night #3 - Captain's Grill - Yacht Club Resort

Reservations: 5:30 pm

Even though this place had the BEST steak on the whole trip... the one thing that turned this from being top 2 to dead last was the wait. My Dad timed from when we were done with our entree to receiving our desserts was 45 minutes. And they had our dessert order AT THE SAME TIME as our entree order. I think the whole time we were there was close to 2 and a half hours. I do not recommend this place if you have children. Ours didn't last, and I felt bad for them. So don't get me wrong... the food was fanastic... but service wise... it was the worst one out of the 5.... hands down.

#5 - Night #2 - Mama Melrose's - Hollywood Studios

Reservations: 6:10pm

This place was real good. I enjoyed it a lot, but compared to what is left... it just has to go #4. The biggest reason is, while I loved the 5 Cheese Pasta and Steak, I ended up liking the pasta more, but to me it didn't offer anything more than something I could get at the Olive Garden. Kinda hard to explain... guess if I'm going to Disney, I want a Disney experience, and especially with the food. We also waited a bit to get in, but we did try to get in early.

#4 - Night #Not Enough - Boma - Our DVC Home AKL!

Reservations: 7:15pm

Boma was good. They got us in early with no issues. All you can eat buffet style. Its a solid place to go. While this time was MUCH better than the previous, its not one of those places where I need to eat there every time I go to WDW. This one its just short and sweet because there is nothing wrong with the place. I recommend this if you want to be challenged with your food like I did.

#3 - Night #1 - Whispering Canyon Cafe - Wilderness Lodge

Reservations: 6:30pm

This would had been my #2 if it wasn't for the fact we waited OVER an hour to get seated WITH reservations. Luckily... we had plenty to do to kill the time. Went outside, and checked the pool. Pin traded. Stuff like that. But just because of that one fact I dropped it. The reason it didn't drop farther were a couple reasons. The waiter we had... Gepetto... was amazing. He made the wait worth it. Even though we didn't get to sit in the big room... we were as far back as possible... actually right beside the pin trading cart, so we didn't get to see all the shenanigans that was going on, but we had enough happen to us like Gepetto forgetting to get my son water, so he brought Evan to the back, and gave him this HUGE JAR filled with water and two straws put together so he could drink out of it! The food was AMAZING. I highly recommend the Skillet and the Skillet is more fun the more people at the table order it! All of this is what kept this from becoming a #4 or a #5, but the waiting did drop it from a #2 to a #3 though. I know this was probably an isolated incident, but your first day in WDW shouldn't start out this way in my opinion.

#2 - Night #2 - Teppan Edo - Epcot

Reservations: 7:10pm

I love Teppan. I love Teppan. I love Teppan. Seriously... lol! This place has it all. Great food cooked right in front of you. Entertainment. Its just a great experience. You don't have to wait long. Your almost in and out. I just highly recommend this place because its the whole deal. My only one minor complaint is the location of it. Its literally almost the farthest point from the entrance to Epcot... all the way back there. Luckily we were coming from HS, so we just hopped on the boat, and then we were a bit closer. But thats my only complaint. Its minor. But I do wanna list it because if you do book this place, either already be planning to chill back in the countries or in Epcot in general. We got there to head right over there and didn't have much time later that night because the park was closing. So I recommend an earlier reservation than 7:10 because you will get our of there roughly in an hour and a half. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! Awesome foooooooooood!

#1 - Night #4 - Ohana - Polynesian

Reservations: 6:45pm

This was my favorite out of all of the places we went to. Hands down. I will go there again come November 2012. We tried to time it so we could see the fireworks, but we ended up not having a window seat that was toward MK. BUT... we finished early enough to when we got on the monorail, it started, so we got off at MK and watch it at the entrance. It was a magical night. As for the food. Seriously... all you can eat! AND YOU DONT HAVE TO GET OUT OF YOUR CHAIR! It was brought to you! I finally felt like my dog Colby when he see's me with his favorite treat. I would see those metal lines of delight, and just wanna start jumping up and down! "Yes! Yes! I want that! And that! Oooooohhhhhh yeah! That!" The noodles were amazing. The salad was awesome. The meats were fantastic! And let me tell you... I am not a fan of banana bread pudding... but that was amazing! I so highly recommend this place. HIGHLY! Was just a magical time!

Thanks for the great detailed write ups and rankings! I give you and the kids credit for some of those wait times and dining times. Holy smokes!

That's so true about Mama Melrose's in my opinion. I still remember the first time we went there in 2001 and really were blown away. But sadly, never felt the same again. Now we just don't bother.

Thanks again.

I think you're being very reasonable in accounting for wait times. We've noticed the same thing during some of our Disney dining experiences. I suspect that it has something to do with the number of large parties they accommodate. When you are serving multiple large parties, it can chew up the kitchens ability to handle crowds.

I also applaud your willingness to try some new foods, and to re-try a restaurant that didn't thrill you the first time. I'm curious though. Was there anything new you wished you had tried?

We were basically a party of 6. So I truly understand that it takes time to get food out. The best places were the ones that managed the time right. Our problem was... the Captains Grill is not really a place for kids, BUT if they have our dessert order, and its mostly pies and cakes. There really is no reason that it should take 45 minutes for 6 people. 15 tops. But yeah... with Whispering Canyon... we were there for a long time... but our waiter made it enjoyable, and the atmosphere as well.

As for things I wish I would had tried? I would like to had tried the steak at Whispering Canyon, the one Jeff suggested. It just sounded soooooooo good. But my problem is... if I go there again... I think ill still choose skillet again because of all the different food you receive.

The other one was Boma. They had a bunch of different soups that I would liked to have tried, but I was about filled with just the suggestions I had gotten! lol

With Teppan... it probably would had been good to get the steak and shrimp, but I really love steak. But if I go next time... ill probably go with the steak and shrimp. BTW... the white sauce ROCKS!

With Mama Melrose.... I probably would had gone more italian and got the Oven-baked Chicken alla Parmigiana
over Spaghetti.

And Captains... snow crab.

Hope that helps or if that was what you were really asking about? lol

Yeah.... don't get me wrong. I loved my meal. It was VERY good. But I didn't get that Disney Magic from it. I mean its stuck behind Pizza Planet almost. For YEARS I never even knew there was a restaurant there! It just seemed like an Olive Garden that was being silly Italian? If that makes sense?
