Pin Trading--Disney pin value?

Just saw this fun article in Orlando Sentinel's blog Orlando Sentinel Pin Trading Article and thought some of the pin traders around here would enjoy.

Speaking of, where can I find out how much all of my old pins are worth? I was a big Annual Passholder/Ride Opening/Special Event pin collector for a while.

Thanks mickey

Woah, I totally missed this thread. Where's ZapperZ when you need him!

Ha ha! I know we have some avid pin traders around here, so I'm hoping for an answer. I don't want to do the "pin collection" bulk sales on ebay. I think some of these are really worth something.

There are two separate and unconnected sources in terms of trying to figure out the value of the pins that you have. The first one is obvious - ebay. If you can browse through pages and pages and pages of Disney pins, there's a chance that you can find your pin, or something in the same category as your pin (i.e same theme, released same year, and same LE number) to give you want people are willing to pay for. Note however that the demand can fluctuate.

The second source would be Tomart's guide to Disney Pins. However, I would use this source simply as a guide and not as definitive, because they can't anticipate what is in demand, simply what they THINK is in demand, unless something has been out for a while and clearly worth something.

In the end, you have to do a bit of a homework and talk to people who know about pins, and that you can trust. Luckily, I know of at least a couple that will give really straight and accurate answer if something is worth more than I think.

Oh, if you have old passholder pins, i.e. pre 2003, for example, those could be worth a bit more than what you paid for them.

Zz.

SO helpful, Zz. Thanks! Is there a web link for the Tomart guide? (I guess I could google, eh?)
