Pixie dust and prayers for my mom

I have been absent of late due to the fact that my mom went in for what was supposed to be routine hernia surgery on Wednesday. Fast forward to today, she is in the ICU on a vent and undergoing dialysis for kidney failure. She is septic. I have no idea how we got here at this point, and being an only child, I am completely overwhelmed with things.

We had just told the LO about our upcoming trip, but I am not sure what is going to happen with that. We have talked about rescheduling for January or February. I am trying to keep things as upbeat as possible for the LO and not get her too upset about my mom by making any sudden changes, so right now we are kind of just waiting and seeing how things go.

Prayers & pixie dust being sent your way. There have been a lot of roller coasters in my life this year and I hope yours ends as favorably as mine have. My eight month old grandaughter had open heart surgery on Sept 25, and came home on October 3. ICU doctors and nurses are very special people!

Sending extra loads hugs and pixie dust, especially as I have just spent the entire day in an ICU ward, as wards goes they are very well managed, but also nerve fraying to be there.

Trust she is in the right place and have faith in the skills of those around her.

Thank you everyone! Things are about the same, but we are still being optimistic. I am back to work today because I finally figured out that I am not a nurse or a doctor, so I need to just keep my life somewhat on track for my sanity and for my family.

I hope so too! If not we will be heading down in February. This will be my first time going at that time of year.

I've been down that time of year just the once - but it was nice and cool compared to the late summer heat, and the crowds were downright manageable Smile

Either way you'll have an amazing time - now it's just a case of taking care of mum n' yourself.
