Port Orleans Riverside - Room Refurbishments

Here's an article with a ton of pictures at PO-R. It looks fantastic. Those of you who have stayed here in the past (because of you guys it's on my bucket list), how much better does it look to you?

Love love love those fold down beds! My 13 year old slept on one in our room at Disneyland and it was fantastic. So easy to fold up and put away in the morning.

The refurbishments look fantastic!

I love what they did! Riverside is my favorite moderate resort. The "Mansion" section "Magnolia Bend" is my fave place there to stay. Very peaceful for such a large resort. Gardens are lush and gorgeous. It really did need to be updated and the new decor is beautiful! Cannot wait to stay here again.

We stayed in the AB section and loved it! Like Poppet said, it is very peaceful and lush. The new decor just adds to the magic for me. Hoping to get to see it sometime next year!

The refurbishment to Riverside's sister resort French Quarter is gorgeous too! First time we ever stayed at POFQ last May, right after refurbishment completed, my husband fell in love with that resort. He definately wants to stay there again after going back to Wilderness Lodge on our next trip.

I'm hoping to stay here next year when my husband and I go. Port Orleans Riverside has been on my list of places to stay. This trip will be my husband's first trip to WDW since approx 1984.

We love POFQ but are considering MB this Febuary. Anyone stayed at both? Pros? Cons? Also, I'm not thrilled with the decor of AB - can you request mansion?

We've stayed in the Mansions several times. Yes, you can definitely request that. They say of course that they can't guarantee it, but we've never had a problem getting rooms there.

Hi Mars! welcome to our forums!

You can make a room request for what area you want to be in, however it's important to remember that requests are just that, they can not be guaranteed. Though on the surface it seems like an easy request you need to take into consideration that there are 10 different room categories of rooms at Port Orleans. So the type of room that you want also makes a big difference in where your room is located.

Preferred rooms are ONLY located in Alligator Bayou 14, 15, 18 and 27.

Riverside's Oak Manor and Parterre Place Mansions are entirely Royal Guest Rooms now, so if you were hoping for one of those buildings, you need to make that upgrade. There are also no King room in the Royal Guest Section

I hope that helps a little bit. Check out this page for expansive information on the location and types of Guest Rooms that PO has to offer!

Everytime we've stayed at Riverside, we've requested the Mansion section (our fave). Never had a problem.

Thanks everyone!
We do always want a king bed.
I'm always leery or changing up what we already love!

Me too! However I try to keep an open mind and remember that even a bad day at Disney is better than the best day at home. LoL... I love the decor of the Royal Guest Rooms, but I think that all of the refurbishments have made every room there much more charming and new!
