Question? Go for 2 Weeks or 2 Week in 3 Months?

Ok. Jess and I found out yesterday that my parents are not taking their annual trip by themselves in May next year. So... it got me thinking. We are buying Annual Passes for this trip. Instead of going January of 2014 like we have planned... I suggested going the week PRIOR to our November Trip with the family. So we would be there for 2 weeks, with the first week by ourselves and the last week with our family. We would already have to buy airfare for the November trip... so that should be fine. Our tickets are taken care of. Hotel taken care of. Just food and spending money is all we would have to come up with if we do it this way.

I brought this up to Jess and she doesnt know if she could stay in Disney for 2 weeks. Me... im looking at this saving money! If we went in January... we would have to come up with park tickets, airfare, food, and spending money. Do it prior... we just have to come up with food and spending money.

So... with all of that said. If money isnt an issue. What would you do? Money isnt really much of an issue because we have it all mapped out for saving. So would you want a full 2 weeks in Disney? Or would you go 1 week... take a couple months, then go back?

My answer to this is both please! biggrin

It's a toss up for me. I could absolutly spend 2 weeks in Disney. There really is SOOO much to do. But being able to go twice in a 3 month period is pretty fabulous!! Especailly with that Limited Time Magic promotion Kristin mentioned. The two times you go would mostly likely be two different themes. That makes it even more fun...

I think I'm leaning towards twice in 3 months..... sarcastic

What are the crowd predictions for the first week? Will it be enjoyable, or a zoo?

Personally, 2 weeks in WDW would be heaven! There are always so many things we never have time to do. What about you? Do you always leave wishing you'd had a few more days? I think this could be ideal - time for yourselves, and fun with the family, and a relaxed pace to do as you please. Plus the Christmas decorations will be up, right? Add in the cost savings, and I'd vote yes! yes! yes!

My ideal Disney rotation would have me taking a trip every 3-4 months. However, I have been dying to do a really relaxing slow moving trip with lots of pool time and activities outside of the park. I think my vote right now would be for two weeks.

I'd say go for two weeks. Depending on the dates you may be able to participate in the Food & Wine festival if you go the week before.

I would love to do two week dream vacation in Disney, especially since I'd get to include a lot of extra outside of the parks stuff. Like seeing a Cirque performance and taking the Keys to the Kingdom Tour and other things that I just wouldn't be able to squeeze into the park days.

I would love to go for two weeks!!! However... if I were given the choice of two weeks once a year or go for 1 week twice a year, I would have to go for the one week twice. That to me would be twice the fun.

I too like to "spread the love" out over the year. 3 trips a year is about perfect. I will have managed that (and a little better) this year since I got my annual pass. It is easier for me to leave knowing that I will be back "in a few weeks." mickey

From my distant perch. . . Two weeks at the same time, please. The airfare is too much to do twice.

And I would love the chance to savor the trip even more than we do now!!! awesome

Hmm...I really had to think about this one...while I think it would be nice to do two weeks in a row and take my time seeing things, I think I would rather go two times in one year and spread the magic out a bit!

I'd split the weeks up by a couple of months, but I'd still like to do a 2 weeks trip, okay maybe 2 -2 week trips a year, thats even better!

Thats been our problem. The idea of saving money by doing a 2 week is starting to tempt Jess. I think we'd both like to do one trip in November then one in January.... but with everything we could save by doing this... its making it more tempting. We could do the deluxe dining plan easier if we went two weeks in a row. Could have more spending money to. But like everyone has said... this is a tough decision when I try to not make the money and issue... but everytime I try... I keep thinking about it... lol Just having that deluxe Annual Pass at the DVC discount is HUGE and to be able to take advantage of that for 3 weeks would be awesome.

I just even thought... by doing the 2 weeks... we could do a tour easier or a behind the scenes thing. When we go 6 days and parks for 5... we dont feel we have the time to do them. But with 2 weeks... itd be easier to pull off as well.

I would so do 2 weeks. It would really give you a chance to relax if you wanted, and relieve any stress of trying to fit in everything you rush to try and do in a week. There's so much to do that I would not have a problem finding new things to do. And at a really relaxing pace if I wanted.

OMG TAKE ME!!!!!!! clapping clapping clapping clapping

Mase..what a terrible dilema to have! laugh

I vote for two weeks! I think your time will be sweetened by knowing youre saving
a nice chunk of change by not doubling up air fare..etc.
plus...TWO WEEKS!

There is so much to see and do at that time of year.
How wonderful it would be to just soak it all in
and slow down the pace! date

I would check the crowd forecast and see what you can get for ADR,s that week , because your less then a month away, also see what's available for rooms.

Yeah... Jess and I talked last night and we both agreed that even though a trip in January would be really nice... saving on having to buy another plane ticket and park passes would save us around $1,200. At least... So we decided as long as my parents are definitely not goin in May, that we will go in November.

Cant do November 2013 yet on TouringPlans but I checked this years... and its anywhere between 2-5's with Saturday being like an 8 or so... so very doable when we shouldnt be rushed.

And yeah... we would have to book our trip almost when we return to be honest, and since Jess and I want to do Boardwalk... we will have to wait till we can go for that one.

That's a tough decision, but the 2 week trip you guys decided on sounds awesome! Now you can use the money you save to do a tour or go to Cirque or try something else you haven't done before! A week always seems to go by so fast for me in Disney Sad

So.... hitting a snag now and it is one of the things I was worried about. I talked to my Mom about it tonight over dinner, and she didnt have a problem with it, but said she didnt feel comfortable with bringing the kids with them. She said all that could change if my Dad was fine with it... but it is a snag that I was truly worried about. Hoping to talk to my Dad about this hopefully tomorrow... if not Friday.

Good luck, Mase and Jess! I think this is an awesome idea. It will give you time to experience Disney in a way that you never have before, and I've often heard it say that you don't really relax on a vacation until the second week anyway...so by that measure, if relaxation and rejuvenation are something that you're after, two weeks makes more sense.

Yeah as much as i was looking forward to going in January just because it would be a different time of year then we usually go....The idea of all the money that we would be saving will be worth it to go in November. Now just to convince the inlaws

Speaking of... Jess brought it up to my Dad today over lunch. We got a bit scared because my Mom brought up going a couple days instead of a full trip for their 40th. But he said he didnt want to just go for a couple days. So I texted Jess to go ahead and ask. So she did... and for the most part it looks SUPER POSITIVE. They are going to talk about it, but he understood how much it would save us to do that, and he had no problem with bringing the kids without us. We told them to think about it, but were gonna have to book around the first week or second week of December. But for the most part... the outlook looks amazing! awesome

You must of got a different impression then I did... Cause your mom refused to bring the kids by herself and your dad said he couldn't commit to going in November for sure

Jess... you always look at the glass half empty. Me... I look at it half full. Dad will go next year. He will let us go next November. If anything... what would happen if he doesnt go... he will MAKE SURE they get on the plane fine. I think the hard thing for Mom would be security. Get past that and she would be fine. Let alone... who knows... maybe your Mom will go again. I would not worry about it. From what I saw from Dad was how much we would save money, and he will be fine with this.
