Quick Trip

Quick summary:

Bought into BLT in August, got 320 points

Use Year is Feb. so in Feb of this year, got another 320 points

Trip in April/May = 511 points

leaves 129 points

We've never been there in October and thought we'd like to check it out and let the kids experience MNSSHP but with only 129 points, no matter which DVC resort we looked at, it still only allowed for about 3 days - (we are a family of 5 so we can't stay in a studio)

We got BLT - one bedroom, standard view from Friday, Oct. 8 - Monday Oct. 11. We'll need to arrive early on Friday (even though check in isn't until 4) so that we have most of Friday, all f Saturday and all of Sunday - then leave Monday.

However, now I am wondering if I should have just banked those points and used them in 2011 so we could have a longer stay then? I like the idea of going 2 times in one year but is it really worth it for such a short stay? I know most Disney Fans will say yes - but think about family of 5 from Pa it's not a hop skip and a jump.

A time-honored question, indeed. Is it safe to put it to a family vote? "Would you rather visit Disney for three days, or stay longer next year?" Kids might skew that the wrong way... Wink

Personally, I'd say go down for the three days. MNSSHP is a wonderful even that kids your age will love. Plus, you and CJ might like to pop over to the Food and Wine Festival (there are fun things for kids there, too).

Will you be flying or driving?

Heheehe I WANT to go just wondering if I was crazy to plan it! It will be CJ, me and the kids - no one else (for the FIRST time!) My thought was that we'd try it out during that time and then in 2011 we would choose which time we liked the most for the 'normal' trip - we always go late April/early May and I didn't want to plan a big trip for another time of year without really knowing if we'd like it.

I know YOU know all about my 'hell no I am not flying' attitude but I actually planned on flying - it doesn't make sense to drive for 4 days (round trip) for a 3 day vacation BUT CJ is seriously fighting me on this one....

Well, the drive can be fun if you let it Smile

I say go for it. Why not? A double dose of Disney is best, I always say. We're hoping to get a short trip in as well as our long one this year. We'll see how the economy treats us!

That's definitely tough. YOu have to put yourself in the mindset that it's a short trip. Decide on two or three things you HAVE to do, and make it relaxing after that. Maybe even focus on the things you can ONLY do during that part of the year -- MNSSHP, Food and Wine Festival, etc.

I say if you go for 3 days the idea has to be that you're just there to relax. If you try to do everything, or even a lot of things, you'll drive yourself nuts.

Hey Brad and Annie - good points.

I think we are going to go with the intention of ONLY going to MK and Epcot.

Epcot is a good pick for a relaxing trip. There are lots of low-stress activities there.

Plus, there's lots of cool new stuff. Did you guys get to do Sum of all Thrills the last time you were there? The kids might really like that one.
