Re imagineering or re theming- your ideas

So, last week I posted on a thread about 'least favourite lands' the ideas I have had for changes to Hollywood studios a park that is real need of an upgrade.

But where else in wdw needs a change?

There has been talk of Malestrom changing to a frozen attrition, in my opinion thats an awful idea

1) the location of Frozen is fictional and based on Norway, this has no place in the world showcase
2) although in need of an update Malestrom is a great ride that just needs a little love.

Where would I put frozen well its a strange choice but one that would be finically cheap and rewarding for disney, why not change Blizzard beach to a Frozen themed park...

cons
blizzard beach has a great back story and is a lot of fun

pros
making the most out of Olafs character.
not really a lot of re theming needed.

so what or where would you re theme? splash mountain could become a princess an the frog attraction with the hillbillies chasing the frogs? wall-e could make an appearance through space ship earth? the dream finder could make his way back to figment?

the floor is yours

OMG, no, leave Splash Mountain alone. I don't care if I never see that movie, I love the ride. Besides, there are no mountains in New Orleans.

I would love to see all of Dinoland redone. I know you like it, Phil, but it does nothing at all for me.

I like Blizzard Beach as-is and would rather see a Frozen dark ride somewhere in Fantasyland, if there's room for one.

The next time they renovate Spaceship Earth I would like to see the story become even less Euro-centric, but stay true to life with no characters.

They could do something new with Captain EO. Heck, they could do something new with the whole Imagination pavilion.

The Indiana Jones stunt show needs a major overhaul.

Stitch's Great Escape needs to go.

Wow, I could have fun all day thinking of reimagining certain parts of WDW. I think the areas I would like to change the most would be:

1. Dinoland in AK. I know some people like Dinoland for the backstory, but this is DISNEY!, everything has a backstory. I, and an overwhelming majority of people, greatly dislike Dinoland in AK because it doesn't represent anything "Disney."
This space would be so much better served if they changed it to a "Finding Nemo" area, since it is very close to the "Finding Nemo" live stage show. I think they could move "The seas with Nemo" and "turtle talk with crush" to this area. They could even keep the PT and Dinosaur rides, but just change them to Nemo themed rides. For example, Dinosaur could remain a dark ride, but just change it to the darker parts of Nemo~ Nemo being captured by the dentist, Marlon & Dory being chased by sharks and almost being eaten by an Anglerfish, M&D being inside a whale's stomach, Darla!, etc..... There are a lot of possibilities for a dark, but kid friendly, ride. This also would free up some space at Future world, which is the next area that I think needs a huge overhaul.

2.Future world in Epcot. There are so many things that I don't like about FW, that I almost hate walking through this part of Epcot. It seems like such a waste of a huge area of the park. Soarin' and Test Track are great and I like mission space and spaceship earth. However, FW is SO outdated that I can't believe they still call it future world. Captain EO, Journey into imagination with Figment, and Ellen's energy adventure are so dated in the 80's(EO) and 90's. I like the ride of EEA, but I can't go on it anymore because I can't stand to watch the LONG video even one more time! Even Innoventions, W & E, feel dated.
IMO, this would be a perfect place to make a very large Frozen section. Take out EO and Figment and make use of this whole area for Frozen. Also, if my first scenario happened, there would be extra space from "Seas w/ Nemo" and Turtle talk w/ Crush. I know Figment has sentimental value to many people who visited WDW as kids and fell in love w/ Figment, but it's time to "Let it go." wink sorry, I couldn't resist

Well, I will be glad when the "Frozen" hype is all over. Good movie? Yes. Enough to merit an attraction? Um, No.

Please, God...NO Frozen attractions and it is blasphemy to even think of replacing anything in the World Showcase with something from Frozen!!

I think Dino-land needs to go....already discussed my hate for that "land" so I won't beat a dead horse.

Backlot Express needs something...I don't know what, but it needs updating.

Beauty and the Beast show needs to go...at least for a while....replace with a different show or rotate something in.

Of course, I will always love the beloved "River Country" water park and I know it will never come back because of sanitation laws, but seriously it was the most fun water park and I am glad we visited each time. I have wonderful memories of that place! I would like to see something done with that area. It seems like such a waste!

I actually love a lot of the classic rides and get all teary eyed thinking about losing them. Delta Dream Flight and Horizons were hard for me. I understand updating, but I also love the classics. This is why I shall never want Carousel of Progress to change. It is Disney history!

I agree with everyone saying something should be done with Captain EO and Figment. I saw each of them once for the experience but will never go again. Its so incredibly outdated it would be so cool to see a really good new science themed attraction.

I'm actually surprised they haven't already re-imagined Tomorrowland Speedway to a Cars theme. Why not drive through Radiator Springs instead?

And there's no way that Frozen won't find a prominent spot in Fantasyland at some point. Just a matter of time. There's an awful lot of Beauty and the Beast there - I'd expect some of it to freeze over.

Also, where do you think Marvel characters will land once their licensing with Universal Studios expires? They'll have to find a home somewhere...

I would like to see the tomorrowland speedway turned into radiator springs. I would LOVE to see the Marvel comics come to Disney too.

I doubt we will see anything significant until Disney Springs and Avatarland is completed. I am sure those are major projects that will be completed first.

YES!!! I know a lot of people aren't excited about Journey Into the Imagination, but it used the be the absolute BEST! (IMHO of course) I really wish they would showcase Figment in a better way because he is the coolest little guy! I don't really think Frozen will/should be showcased a whole lot in EPCOT....fantasy already has a home in Fantasyland! Isn't FW supposed to be about learning/experimentation? (about science, ecosystems, imagination, etc) I would love it if they would bring the innovation back to this area as I agree it is dated. I grew up coming here in the 90's and I thought EPCOT was the coolest park...I was having fun while learning! Bring back the joy of exploration please Smile

Also I am not totally ready to jump on the Frozen bandwagon, although I did really like the movie...but Olaf is so much fun and I think his character could be a great addition somewhere. Blizzard Beach is a perfect spot for him!

I agree that Tomorrowland Speedway needs an overhaul, but I'm not sure how you'd fit Radiator Springs into Tomorrowland. Granted, the current ride also doesn't really belong in Tomorrowland.

We can't have cars in tomorrowland, sorry.
Figment needs to go back to his original state, eo needs to go again. We can't have frozen in future world, Epcot isn't really a place for disney characters.

I'm not sold they'll do a Frozen attraction in the near future just yet. I mean, look at the Renaissance films for reference. Lion King set all types of records way back when but it didn't get a single ride, just two stage shows. (One in the MK for a few years and now FOTLK which will have a new theater soon.), Little Mermaid got a ride in WDW 24 years after its release. Aladdin got a ride 9 years later but in the form of notorious spinner. As for BATB, 22 years later after its release, it got an attraction and restaurant. Imagineering from what I've seen is not going rush things but then again, some may raise eyebrows if a subpar attraction was made taking 4 years to complete when other theme parks can make superior ones in a fraction of that time. That is the vibe I get from the critics who are not fans of New Fantasyland.

Anyway, as for my ideal re-imagineering. I'm thinking Star Wars land in HS. So I'd focus on Echo Lake. We don't need American Idol so I'd think a Star Wars attraction could fit there. Indiana Jones, I love you, but it's time for a Star Wars themed stunt show. Jedi Training Academy doesn't do justice. I'd re-theme Backlot Express as a Star Wars themed QS, put a huge Star Wars shop replacing Hollywood and Vine, re-theme the Tune Inn Lounge and 50s Prime Time Cafe to Mos Eisley Cantina but I would want to re-locate 50s Prime Time Cafe and Tune Inn Lounge to where Sci-Fi and the Commissary are at if it's possible.

well if they start building it now , judging on how long its taken to build the mine train, i'm sure it will be ready for the release of......

'from the vault for a limited time' Disney's Frozen's 20th anniversary 'un-frozen addition' super mega 3 disc hyper blu-hi res set

so summer 2034, more likely for cast members only though at that point.

Frozen "could" be used as part of saving the planet theme just like they do with characters from Lion King, so it could be used, say where Capt EO and such are now located. Just a thought. I love the little movie with the three LK characters, so something could be done.

this is another point I wanted to make too. it'll be a while before they do something, and who knows how big it really will be when they do it. does it really merit a ride? I saw a chart that disney movies adjusted for inflation and Frozen hardly cracked the top 10. then again, it is a princess movie, so maybe it will get something sooner? who knows. but it's going to take time if something as big as an attraction is going to come.

I have been judging this insane hype about the movie based on Frozen merchandise flying off the shelves just about everywhere Disney merchandise is sold. On another forum where people sell their gently used Disney stuff, there are Olaf's going for hundreds of dollars, multiple times per day. This normally cost around $40. It is just all very puzzling to me...but that's my little opinion.
