Recent Rope Drops

This is something I have never done. sarcastic I really want to do this a couple times for this trip. BUT, I have a couple of questions.

1. Other than Magic Kingdom, which park is really worth it for getting up early? Do they all do something really special?

2. Anyone who has been recently and made Rope Drop at MK, is the Frozen Frenzy still there? eek I know they have the CM's "controlling" it now but for the 2 of us who are not going to see the sisters first thing, are the "others" running you over?

3. What is the best time to arrive at each park to get a good view of the activities and best viewing locations? We are staying at Pop Century and driving our car to the parks.

Thanks for any and all input!

Well we always do Rope Drops for every park except AK...This year I have five drops marked out..I love MK with all the razzmatazz and Epcot is cool with all the CM's riding little buggies and waving different countries flags..D.H.S. used to let you in so far up the boulevard before some dude would invite a family up to open the park..

Just went to MK rope drop this morning. It is the only park we go to for rope drop. I love the characters and singing. Plus we are early risers so it's no problem getting there. Has become tradition for us.

We were running a little late for rope drop because of switching resorts in the morning, so the frozen frenzy would have been ahead of us and we headed straight for adventureland. MK is the only park that really makes a big splash, but DHS does sometimes open a little bit early, so if you're hanging out at the turnstiles by 8ish, you can sometimes be on and off TSM before 9am. We do rope drop everywhere just because that first hour or two is so valuable. That's usually the lowest the crowd level is going to be all day (unless it rains), so we make a point to take advantage of it!

We're very accustomed to touring this way and when we visited Hersheypark earlier in the summer, I insisted that we had to be there for rope drop because I wanted to make the same use of our early morning riding time. What a joke. We only waiting longer than 5 minutes for one ride the entire day! Completely different experience than WDW!!

The rush to Fantasyland is still there. Most of the crowds go to Seven Dwarfs and some go to Princess Fairytale Hall. Its not as bad now.

Thanks Mandy! I plan on going the opposite way! I secured out 7DMT FP+ stars so I won't need to deal with all of the rush!!!

Could not get Anna and Elsa, I had a friend to tell me to keep trying as it gets closer and it may open up and I can switch, you think there is a good chance of that happening??

None of the other parks do anything special for rope drop, only the MK. I do like being at the parks first thing though because it makes it a lot easier to get on the rides you want with minimal wait times.

Does the MK do a special rope drop when it's EMH? Or do they wait until the regular opening time?

We were at AK for rope drop in June and nothing really happened, a song played through the speakers. That was it.

I was going to ask the same. A couple years ago I made the family get up and go to three rope drops (we only do a partial at DS the day we arrive), and i was frankly a bit disappointed. Epcot had many characters there and at AK, there were many of the same characters just dressed different, but they were basically serving as an additional rope line. A "magical announcement welcomes you" and the cms take the rope down and start packing them in.

We now only do MK. This year our plans weren't able to use the EMH (AM - no PM) so everyone promised I could see MK the first day we go there.
Maybe our friends will be so blown away they will want to go back for more!!!!

The only morning we were at MK at rope drop when we were there last week we were already in the park for our KTTKT. They took us down a little side street on Main Street though and we watched the people coming in and it looked pretty orderly and calm with the CM's leading the trek with ropes so that no one could run ahead. We also made rope drop at Epcot and DHS and there was nothing special done at either park when we were there.

Yep..EMH as well...

Just be aware that on EMH mornings, rope drop is at the beginning of EMH only. We got caught with that a couple years ago. We assumed it would be at regular park open but when we got there, we were told it happened an hour ago sad

Keep trying...I managed to get four different FPP 60 days out, but they were all for four different times. I keep checking several times every day (I use the app on my phone so it's always with me) and withing a couple of days was able to move three of those times so they overlapped. Just trying to get the fourth one to overlap now with the previous three. Every couple of days I see time slots coming available (unfortunatly not a time slot that overlaps with what I need!), but they are truly there only for a short time.

Keep trying and it should happen!

I don't know if it was because I was by myself but I loved EPCOT rope drop. They play a song and all the countries say good morning in their language. I thought it was nice.

We were there for the opening of AK once and they played Circle of Life pretty loud upon entering... Which I thought was cool..

Only park i've never been to for rope drop is HS...

Bottom line, no park does rope drop like MK does rope drop. They have the best morning celebration!

My daughter Katie mentioned yesterday that she was watching a video of Magic Kingdom Rope Drop online and there were no confetti cannons. Have they done away with this on a regular basis, or maybe was the video taken on an off day? Anyone know?

Kristen the past few times we have done rope drop they didn't have any confetti cannons. That was about 3 or 4 times in the past year and a half.

I ended up missing the rope drop. Our bus was running 20 minutes late, and was on the ferry over to MK when it happened. I did see them shoot something off from the ferry with a big poof of white smoke, but I don't know what it was.
