Refunds from Disney

This years trip was going to be more than just my two friends and I. My friend is brining her niece and I was bringing mine. My mom and sister-in-law were coming too. Last month my sister-in-law called to let me know her and my niece aren't able to go. They're hoping to make it next year.

It will be three weeks tomorrow that I canceled their reservation. I haven't received my refund yet (I was paying for my niece's trip. I'm such a good aunt Smile ). What is the average turnaround for refunds? I know it wouldn't happen overnight. Plus, I know it will take a little longer than average because Disney would refund AAA and the refund would come from them. I'm looking for a gauge to know when I should start following up.

Thanks

I would follow up now. How did you pay, by credit card? If so, I would expect max time for that would be a week to see it back in your account, if not sooner. When we change our reservations because of discounts, they sometimes have to cancel reservations, refund the money and then rebook and that takes only minutes. I would get after your travel agent.

I don't have anything smart to add to think, but I agree with Mr Hub. I would call today.

My son and his girlfriend cancelled last month and it took about a week to get a refund on my credit card however tickets are not refunded Sad but they are not dated and do not expire so they can use them when they do decide to go.

The AAA agent and I played phone tag yesterday. I'll give her a call tomorrow.

I paid by check for my payments. I don't know if that would make a difference.

If they owe you a paper check, it may take a while. It has to be sent and approved through their accounting department. Someone has to sign it, mail it, etc...I would still check on it thought! Smile

Yes being you paid by check, that could take a while. But like Eeyore (wow, just caught that spellcheck change mistake, sorry Eeyore!) said, still check, they should have record of where it stands right now.

I spoke to my agent today. She received the refund from Disney on April 19 and submitted the paperwork to cut the check to me the same day. She sent a follow up to the accounting department this morning but hadn't heard back from them when I talked to her this afternoon.

thanks again
