Rental Car in WDW-- advice?

For the first time, I'll be renting a car for our WDW trip. We got a good deal, so it was cheaper to rent a car than to pay for the shuttle to Universal for 3 people.

We will be staying at AKL for a few days and then hopping to OKW, so it'll be nice to have the car for that. We're going to Universal for our first day and then spending the rest in the bubble. Which resorts should I bus to and which should I drive to? Should I drive to Disney Springs?

Also, will the Google Maps app get me around reliably?

Thank you!

Okay, well no gps app is 100% reliable but if you don't know the area, Google should work fine for you, but study the maps and area ahead of time in case you get a "turn left here" and you're on a bridge or something.

Which resorts are you planning to visit? We drive our car down and we drive everywhere. It is so much faster and less time wasted traveling back and forth. Some resorts you will have a hard time getting into unless you have a reservation to eat or you are a DVC member like the Poly. They have very limited parking.

welcome rinnaroo!

We always drive down too. We take the car to all of the parks, resorts and Disney Springs.

Disney also has great signage on property! I love the parking garage at Disney Springs, it tells you what floors have available parking and then how many spots on each row. Each empty spot has a green light above it!

While Mr Hub is right about limited parking at some resorts, we have been fortunate enough to never have a problem parking at any of them.
