Wanyama Safari

JHugo- thank you for your guest article on the Wanyama Safari!

I am thinking of cancelling Boma & not doing the wine tasting and throw all that cash towards this tour.

I was wondering if you have any further thoughts on this tour?
It seems amazing to have 2 hours on the grounds just hanging out with the animals!
How was the dinner part? Is there some food choices? Did it feel like you were rushed to finish?

Any more insight you have on it will probably influence my decision! biggrin

We did this and enjoyed it, the time out in the grounds was great and the truck stopped directly in line with our room so we ended up taking photos of the balcony. I didn't enjoy the food but I know the menu has changed since then. I would give them a call to check it. I remember the chicken tasted like drain cleaner but G liked it. It is a lot of money for the privilege to drive around the Savannas but worth it if you are interested in how things are done and the animals. I probably enjoyed dine with an animal expert more (not by much) there is a fair amount of food and I felt a little bit rushed to finish before the next course came out.

So dinner started out with a cocktail and bread service. You get a glass of wine then with each coarse. You get your own appetizer after that and then dinner is family style. There was fish, short ribs, chicken, lots of vegetables, mac and cheese, and a corn spoon bread. They will also ask if you have any dietary issues and since my sister and I are vegetarians they made a few extras for us. Lots of food and everyone left very full and happy. Dessert was individual and was three small desserts. We all lingered for awhile talking and didn't feel rushed. Were given a gift bag with a pin and some chocolate at the end. Tip is not included in the cost of the tour. Loved the tour and you will have plenty of time to take pictures and ask questions. I know the cost is a little high but we would actually do the tour again and felt like we got our moneys worth.
