I haven't found any news stories yet, however the official D23 Twitter account just posted that Annette Funicello has passed away at age 70.
I'm a little speechless...

This just makes me sad. Even with all her health problems, she was always such a class act.

Time marches on. Eventually you realize it's doing it across your face.
RIP, she will be missed.
M-I-C see you real soon! K-E-Y why? because we like you! M-O-U-S-E ............. Rest in peace Annette.
I saw an article on the Washington Post's website earlier this afternoon, and subsequently elsewhere online.
I was a baby when the original Mickey Mouse Club debuted, and according to my mother it was my favorite TV show. (Apparently two of my first words were "Mee Mouse.")
I remember Annette from the Mickey Mouse Club and many of the Disney movies she made, and as a child I was a big fan. Later, as a teenager in the late 1960s, I saw some of her silly beach party surfer movies on TV and thought she was hopelessly square and out-of-date. Once I got that stage out of my system, I respected her and what she'd accomplished. And now, after reading her obituaries, I agree that she was a class act and showed tremendous courage during her fight with multiple sclerosis. I'm sure she and Walt Disney are having a blast right now catching up on old times.
R.I.P. Annette
RIP Annette.
I am certain that the Mouse shed a tear today. R.I.P. Annette.
Rest in peace, Annette.
A class act and legendary lady. She will be missed.
Member of the 6 castle club and working to pay for my next Disney vacations: 1/5-10/18, September 2018 for my 50th and 2018 the year of Disney cruising.
While her true fame was well before my time, I remember the orginal disney channel format that featurned some classic things. They really should take some time to honor her by showing some classic highlights.
I agree with you J. That would be a fabulous tribute to a true lady.
METV Tribute to Annette on Sunday 4-14:
R.I.P. Annette, you touched so many of us during your life.
Thanks Skunk for letting us know. I'll make sure that I watch it.
