Richard Petty Driving Experience -- Worth the Money?

OK, I know a lot of you are car people, so I'm wondering if you think the price list for the Driving Experience at Walt Disney World Speedway is just a little bit pricey...? I know DH would love to do this, but we'd practically have to mortgage the house!

Is this standard pricing for an experience like this? Would you recommend that it's worth the cost, based on what they're offering?

Thanks for the advice!

I've done a few experiences in the UK ranging from an hour behind the wheel of a rally car on gravel stages to 10 minutes driving an Aston Martin on a race track. Typical price here is from about £50 for a passenger ride up to £150 for a short drive and much more for extended sessions or full race schools.
We usually say take the price in £ and put a $ on it as a quick way of camparing relative costs between the US and UK. This doesn't take exchange rate fluctuations into account but gives a rough idea.
Based on this, the ride along would seem to be slightly expensive for 3 laps but it wouldn't be something you do every trip.

Did you feel like the ones you've done were worth it?

Wow. I've never actually looked at the pricing for one of those experiences. I've always known it was expensive, but it does seem pretty high for a day's activity. Maybe if you're a SUPER nascar fan or something? I don't think it would pan out in the budget in our house unless DH went without birthday and X-mas gifts for about 40 years. laugh

My Rally drive was very worth it, the Aston Martin drive wasn't long enough for the price paid (we then found out there was a cheaper way of booking it). Generally the longer the experience the more worthwhile it's seemed.

But Jeremy Clarkson tells me the DB9 is the best car in the world (for no reason he can quite explain) Certainly even setting foot in an Aston Martin is an irreplaceable activity! laugh
