RUMOR: Second Bay Lake Tower in the Plans

Huh - I can't say I'm at all excited about the thought of a second Bay Lake Tower in the works. I really want to see Disney create another full resort rather than just add additional building to existing ones. I feel like that while the DVC prices keep going up and up and up they're really offering a lot less value for your bucks. It was nice that the Polynesian got some major refurbishment because of the DVC money, but I'm concerned that a second Bay Lake Tower addition would be like the Grand Floridian which offered a new building but little in the way of new facilities.

What are you thoughts?

I would much prefer a new concept. There are so many stories Disney can play off of for an entire new resort. I mean, I would be ok with a new Star Wars resort laugh laugh laugh

I'm surprised they haven't announced a Frozen resort laugh

I'd like to see new resorts too. If they do add another Bay Lake Tower, I hope they put additional eateries in it. As it is, both BLT and the Contemporary share restaurants so I can imagine how busy Contempo Cafe will be hosting 3 resorts eek

Right? And the walk to get to them would be a PITA.

I have to think Lucas did not grant the rights to a resort, otherwise they would be building it already, I'm positive of that. They could charge whatever they wanted and the fans would pay it.

It's odd how they claim they want to control attendance, yet instead of building new park areas, they just keep building more guest rooms.

I think they're building more Park areas. I mean we have new Fantasyland, and a new additional attraction in Epcot (Royal Sommerhaus), plus expanded capacity on two new rides (Soarin' and Toy Story Mania). Longer hours at Animal Kingdom withe new shows, a new restaurant, and expanded ride hours, with Pandora opening next year. Plus demolition has begun for two new lands in Disney's Hollywood Studios, and a new ride at Typhoon Lagoon.

All of that has happened or has begun to happen in the past two years. How does all that that not equal expanding the Parks?

It's all built on existing park space, all replacing existing rides. SW Land expands DHS a little. That's pretty much it. Point is this baloney about controlling attendance is just that, baloney. Some rationalization for raising prices and more upcharges events.
