Salutations!

Greetings and Salutations, All,

My nickname is Lyssa, but I'm also known as Melissa. I currently hail from Tallahassee, Florida. I am originally (a long time ago) from southwest Michigan (currently known as "the frozen tundra".) I am a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

My Disney history: when I was 12-ish, my mother took me to Epcot. In August, 2001, went to Epcot with Mom, brother-in-law and my husband. In 2006-ish, went to Epcot with "DH" as y'all call the spouse. I'm pretty certain I've been there again, between the -ish and January 2014, but my memory is a wee bit shot (military related.)

Anyway, the big "to-do"...for Christmas, 2013, my DH asked me what I wanted for presents (we write-up "wish lists") and I asked for a book...and Disney. I was really wanting to do A Very Mickey Christmas, but scheduling just didn't allow it for 2013...so DH went the extra mile and got us both Annual Passes.

So, on 18 Jan 14, we went to Epcot. We had an unfortunate encounter with this new FastPass+ deal...and our cards. It actually turned out far worse at Hollywood Studios, on the 20th...but that aside...

20 Jan 14, second best day of my life, ever. It was the first time I'd ever been to Magic Kingdom. If I could picture Heaven, it'd be Magic Kingdom (but without kids...heh wink ) I still get goose-bumps just thinking about it. It should be on everyone's bucket list.

Anyway, we did Animal Kingdom and Downtown Disney too, but those were like "meh, okay"...and we'll tackle HS again, after they get the kinks out.

So, all this being said (written), I want to thank all of you who have and are writing in the Forums, as I hope to get the most out of our APs, and y'all have already taught me so much, just in a few hours of reading. I really, really appreciate everyone's perspective.

I'm thankful for the site's provider and all the knowledge they are sharing, as this resource will help me maximize the most of our WDW time and funding.

I look forward to getting to know fellow WDW enthusiasts, as it's always nice to find someplace acceptable to "geek out" on similar interests Big smile

~Lyss

welcome Am sure you will find this very informative and a lot of helpful Disney nuts. Nuts being a very good thing. yay
And whenever I go to Disney I always have to go to MK first...have to just walk down Main Street and see the Castle.

We're actually going this coming Wednesday, 19 Feb yay

DH is a contractor with the state and we aren't certain what the rest of his springtime looks like, vacation-wise, so we're traveling before there's a turn-over in staffing at his site.

I haven't stayed at a WDW resort since 2012, so it was cool to receive a booklet in the mail today...gets me psyched for the trip Big smile OH! annnd, now we'll get MagicBands...very, very happy about that!

Thanks to all, for the warm welcome Smile I'm learning *so much* and am truly thankful!

We'll be staying at Coronado Springs and although it's a bit of a haul to MK and Epcot, I'm looking forward to (hopefully) grabbing a Kobe burger that I've read about throughout the forums.

Although I'm excited about our trip, we're and odd couple in that we don't really "plan" things out...other than us making reservations at the SciFi Diner prior to the trip we took in January. During that trip, we went to Mecum Auto Auction and got my husband his "mid-life crises on a budget" car laugh Can't beat getting a Mercedes Benz for USD6400 wink

Because we live in Tallahassee, "only" a five-hour drive, max, plus DH got us APs for this year...we'll be making multiple trips. So, that being said, with our next trip coming up this Wednesday, we'll only be staying Wednesday through Saturday...well, departure day is Saturday and because we aren't "spring chickens" we won't be hitting any parks that day.

Our main focus this trip is Epcot and Magic Kingdom...but, because of all the neato-keen things I've been reading about all the other DWRs, I think we might make an evening of cruising through them, to see where else we might want to stay in the future. I really, really enjoyed reading King Fergus's discussions about Wilderness Lodge...and also threads I've seen about PORS versus POFQ.

Because we're meat eaters, I'm trying to get DH to seriously consider Ohana, especially for viewing MK's fireworks. If anyone has other suggestions, I'm all ears mickey biggrin

DH told me that the forecast for DW next week is temps in the 80s, which I'm *so thankful* for, especially after the brutal cold winds there were in January. Okay, "brutal cold" is a relative term, but I've lived in Tha South for so long, I now have "thin blood" wink I was never keen on snow even though I grew up in Michigan. I only tolerated it in Germany because I was stationed there. OH! but that reminds me...has anyone ever dined in the actual sit-down restaurant in Epcot's Germany? I haven't found that thread yet, so I ask here. Funny thing, while we were stationed in Germany, we were in Bitburg...and we never made it to Munich for Oktoberfest ~sad chuckle~. I was too much of a workaholic. :/

As I read more and more of people's trip reports, it really makes me reconsider journaling and photo taking. I enjoy reading everyone's adventures and seeing things through their eyes Smile Reckon I should check into that Photo Bucket site as well ~lame chuckle~. While I can take pictures of people with their own cameras, I tend to be lacking in photo taking for myself.

Yeahhh...I'm "really sad" about leaving LOL! I joined the AF to get out wink When I call friends back home, they're telling me it's definitely like the winters in the late 70s (I don't think you were born yet...so you might not know about those.) This winter has been freaky in Florida too, though...I even had to wrap one the one outside pipe we have, due to all the freeze warnings. It even snowed here!! Craziness, but I really don't want to move to south Florida 'cause that's just asking for a hurricane to come knock on our door ~sad chuckle~.
