OK, I have to get it off my chest. The motorized scooters seem to have taken over Disney parks! I guess I perceive that there are many people renting scooters at $65/day that need them about as much as Eskimos need ice cubes. I don't have a problem with people who really NEED them using them but I think the proliferation of scooters is both distracting and dangerous. Perhaps there could be a requirement for a handicapped mirror hanger or something before a scooter is rented. A driving test may also be a good idea!!! Recently, while watching one of the fireworks displays, my foot was run over no fewer than three times by people plowing through the crowd on scooters. They all seem to think that the scooter gives them the ultimate right-of-way. On another occasion, one very inept scooter driver finally had to be lifted by four guys (scooter and all) and physically turned 180 degrees to exit one of the Friendship boats. She just couldn't turn it around and wouldn't listen to the suggestions of others. Don't get me wrong, I believe everyone should have access to the parks but I'm wondering if scooters provide the ultimate answer. Perhaps some sort of tour could be offered to those with mild handicaps. The parks are a little short on short-trip transportation. The double-decker busses, for example, provided point to point transportation around the World Showcase stopping at every country's pavilion. You could hop on and hop off at the next stop. I guess that didn't work out? What other form of short-hop "taxi" service might be provided? Any ideas?? If something isn't done, there will soon be nothing but scooters - they'll have to paint lines on the pavement and put up road signs! Let's brainstorm this. FJF
