Sewing for Disney

Yesterday I finally finished sewing our Phineas and Ferb themed shirts for our trip. Having fun things to sew makes sewing lessons easier for me although the sleeveless part of my shirt and the sleeve part of my husbands shirt was very frustrating. Whatcha think? Please excuse my swollen allergy face, we had a pretty hard cold snap in Georgia over the weekend. The fabric came from JoAnne's.

Those are awesome! I'm always in awe of people with sewing skills. On a scale from 1-10 mine are about a 2.

Great shirts! My sewing skills rank right up there with Kristen's, about a 2. I can sew on a button or repair a rip at a seam, but that's about it. If I tried to sew a shirt, it would probably look more like a pair of pants. laugh

I am blessed to have a VERY Patient teacher. I started out with laptop cover, then made several pairs of pants, now I have made shirts and skirts. Next I will make some PJs and sweats. muchlove

Thanks for letting me share my weirdness.

Great job! The word sew is a four letter word to me. My skills would would rate about -1. Odds are a button coming off of something I own results in me not wearing it any more.

What I found out the hard way is that the sizing for patterns does not match the sizing of clothes in the store. Make sure you take your measurements and buy the pattern by those measurements. Clothing stores use vanity sizing and I cried and cried in the sewing store buying a pattern I thought was HUGE. Don't be like me.

Also the more time you spend pinning the pattern to the fabric and cutting the better your sewing will be. Also embrace the pinking shears.

I have to use a ruler and a cutter ( like a pizza cutter. I can't think of the name of it) because I cut VERY uneven laugh

That sums it up for me. A missing button would result in me going shopping. Smile

I would never survive without my rotary cutter! So much so that in classes or patterns that require regular scissors I think 'huh do what now?!'

I can sew buttons on and I will hem slacks and skirts when necessary.
